| Kino no Tabi ~Life Goes On~ is basically a prequel to the original series, it's not so much a complete prequel, as it happens within the midst of the series as Kino reflects on her past. That said, this movie is not intended to stand alone, and I'd advise against watching this before the actual series, otherwise, you'll be completely lost and it doesn't give a fair view of how great the series (and the complmenting movie) really are.
This movie chronicles Kino's stay with her teacher in the country, while she's still a little girl and it is between the time she leaves her hometown and the time she ventures off on her own as a true traveler. The movie does provide a nice little side story, yet there isn't anything that's groundbreaking as far as character development on a stand alone value, but again, I stress that this movie isn't meant to stand alone.
Animation and sound values are consistent with the series: well done overall. The story was appropriate considering it happens in Kino's past and shows her rather stark confusion with her identity (hence why she has the confusion between the male and female forms of I in one scene within the movie).
I would almost say this movie is more like an extra episode to the series than one intended to stand by itself-it's not so much as jarring as the collective TV series, but it does present an interesting side story in terms of Kino's past. I'd definitely recommend it to those who saw and loved the TV series.

| (Live-evil, Anime-Eternal, Anime-Kingdom fansub. 3 fansub groups involved so instead of a mess the translation was very good)
You could watch this OVA right after episode 4, since it is connected only with that episode of the series.
The OVA explains further Kino's relations with her female Master and focuses on Kino's training and her Master's perseverance not to leave her home. Until one day Kino encounter's a guy with a yellow coat that belonged to an old friend and she decides to pay the mother of that old friend a visit.
The fansub had blurry visuals, probably due to bad encoding (30 minutes only 245 MB) but the translation compensates for this. It features the OP of the series and an independent nice ED song. It has some action in the end and it is recommended only if you've watched the series up to ep4 or read the novels and the illustrated books. Dont watch this independently since you'll dislike this magnificent series

| Average just about sums it up for this movie.
But it does provide insight into certain aspects that I felt were left unresolved in the series. for one we get to see the "master", also we get to see why kino starts to travel and provides background into the life of the original kino. I would still recommend this short movie to those planning on watching the series, but with the advice, to watch it AFTER the series in one go, in other words watch it as if you're watching episode 14 of the series. If done so, this movie blends with the series without detracting from it, and at the same enhancing the enjoyment of this movie.

| I must mention that i haven't seen the series.
I've just finished the viewing of this movie and I've remained with no impression - good or bad, it's already fading. Except for the duality of "I" as a she and of "I" as a he (mystery witch is not resolved - in the TV series maybe?), there is nothing to see about this.
The animation is so stingy :P - absolutely nothing impressive about it.
Sound.... don't remember anything about it, except for the fire guns ( :P too)
Story ... boring
I really thing that is better to see the TV series first, to give to this movie a chance (just for a little bit). Even so, it really haven't give me the desire to see the TV series too.

| I've seen this when i was released and hoped that it had a lot. Sadly there is not alot in it. It offers a preqeul to the anime, which is good but thats just about it. The episode itself is short, its not a normal movie length.

| A nice little addition that allows us to learn more about how Kino came to be what she is and about her elusive (in the series) teacher who obviously taught her so well. All in all, I wouldn't watch it again, and it's not the greatest thing I've ever seen, but, it makes a nice complement to the series.
Note, even though the story takes place before all of the anime but the short history, it's really meant to be viewed after and is best that you do so. I think it wouldn't really hurt anything not to, it's just better and more enjoyable.

| The movie for Kino no Tabi, if you wish to call it that, is a glimpse as to what firmed Kino's resolve. Its brief and animated no better than the 13 episode television run.
