| A cute, touching series that takes the dilemma of being a God(dess) and a kid, making it fun.
In Western culture, the concept of 'God' is taken ever so seriously. The idea that there is one almighty being out there that created everything and controls everything. Depsite similarities between religions in this concept between most Western and Eastern countries, people just can't agree. They are convinced theirs is the one and true God and that everyone else is damned, wrong or take it to fatalistic extremes. Something that I have never understood. Frankly, I don't want to.
What is presented in Kamichu is a reflection of the concept of God in Japan. 'A God? Hah, we have over eight million of these!' Yes they do. A god for just about anything. 'God' isn't a powerful deity worthy of fear. A god is simply a being that will provide good fortune and blessings in return for being good in general.
This is what happens to Yurie, a girl in middle school in the inland sea area of Japan. Her days were normally spent trying to pass exams and trying to get the attention of Kenji, the local nice boy, handy at physical work and completely clueless. Then one fateful night, spirits come to Yurie and make her a local god. Once she announces her new self to her friend Mitsue, their classmate Matsuri convinces Yurie to be the new shrine goddess to bring more interest and fortune back to the shrine and the coastal town of Onomichi. From that moment, Yurie becomes fondly loved by the community and has her hands full granting wishes, locating lost friends, re-invoking long lost memories in others, raising battleships from the middle of the ocean, attending god conferences. All that while balancing her new duties with school and gathering the courage to confess to Kenji.
I think the description of Kamichu being ' what a series would be if Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki did a TV series' has been done to death and is not accurate. That really is a label this series doesn't need. Brains Base may be a relatively young studio, but with Kurenai, Baccano and this series under their belt already, I think it's proven it can stand on its own two feet and doesn't need comparisons to Miyazaki to be worthy of recognition. If anything, Kamichu is even more soothing and innocent than a Miyazaki movie because it is free of his one major flaw - preaching. Kamichu doesn't try to enforce any values or any morals on you. It simply presents Yurie and her unique, amusing, cute life. That's all you need to have a good time. It's more than enough.
The comparison to Ghibli may be warranted on one level though. The animation is simply outstanding. It is fluent, crisp, cute and beautiful all the time. Line thickness, skin tonality, colour tones, backgrounds, moving objects, water and light effects - they're all spot on and heaven on the eyes. Brains Base are consistently good with the animation quality and they were good once again. Well done.
Music is done well overall. The opener is a cutesy, warbling tune that showcases that bundle of cuteness that is Yurie without being corny. Say it as it is and let the natural goodness of Yurie and her friends shine through. In-episode music is generally relaxing and very reminiscent of a lazy day in the summer. Appropriate for a coastal town. The ending is reasonable but depends on your ability to be enthralled by middle-school students trying to be J-idol like. It's not bad but not one I watch that much. The voice acting gets a good workover. Yurie's voice works the moe magic with sheer ease. Her friends, fellow gods and parents come across as natural and believable. It's not exceptional but it is done appropriately.
Story....well, as seems to be the standard case for series Brains Base take on, Kamichu's is simple, perhaps even moreso than Kurenai. Yurie manages to pull off being responsible with her new powers and the duties in brings while maintaining the life of a person her age. And what is probably the most daunting task of all - confessing to Kenji. (Seriously, he is so utterly clueless it's painful!) With such a simple story requires the characters to be solid enough to maintain interest. Yurie alone is enough to pull of that, thankfully. But where Brains Base didn't get the balance quite right is the pacing. This is a very 'slow' series. Not every individual story of this almost episodic-like series will grab most people. Occasionally episodes will split between several scenes and have little happen, not to mention keeping Yurie to minimal screen time for those episodes, which weakens the dream-like effect in those episodes. But for the greater part, it's on the mark. This is a series designed around being fun and innocent, so don't go looking for any morals or deep meanings. It may be too simple and innocent for some. Occasionally it was for me. But only occasionally. For the majority, it was easy to slip into Yurie's world and be amused with the little incidents that end up being quite a mountain. The true final episodes (Episode 12) is the best of the series as Yurie manages to draw on her experiences and pull off an insanely cute moment.
So, how about those characters? Well, this series revolves around Yurie. It is her series. She is such an adorable young girl. There isn't a single bad/rebellious bone in her body. She is as pure and innocent as freshly fallen snow. She definitely has the moe vibe going, but for once, it isn't done in a twisted or immoral way. Yurie is allowed to life the dilemmas and highlights of someone her age, which makes her a very unique type of character. But with her ever-glowing cheeks, soft short brown hair and hypnotic/puppy eyes, she works her magic very well.
I can't quite say the same for the rest of the cast. Yurie does carry the series fairly well, but it just felt like the series needed another person to take on more of a frontal role in the moments when Yurie wasn't the centre of attention. That's not to say the rest of the cast is bad, because they're not. Mitsue and Matsuri are very reliable friends that offer generous support, genuine friendship and admiration of Yurie and the odd laugh. But they don't quite possess the spark. Yurie's parents are a cute, honest pair - the kind of parents most people would dream of. But again, they lack the spark. Kenji's clueless nature coupled with his knack for construction makes for some amusing moments. The fellow cat god provides constant laughs for maintaining the ruse of 'a cat that looks like a cat but really isn't a cat' as well as managing to carry an episode. But again, it reveals the same problem. Only Yurie has the constant spark. If Yurie is away from the action for long enough, an episode tends to grow a bit dreary. This probably is a result of the slow pacing. Another character with enough charisma/spark may have been able to compensate, but there isn't one that does it throughout the series. Yurie is the life of the show. This is sometimes a weakness, but not too often.
Overall, I did enjoy Kamichu and would watch it again, but not at a great pace. It definitely is a series that is hard to watch back-to-back. Like the atmosphere of the series itself, slow and steady is the best approach.
Kamichu is a cute, innocent series about a girl who is a bit different than your average young girl. What you see is what you get. You either get drawn in by Yurie or you don't. Despite some pacing issues and being maybe a bit too reliant on Yurie, it was a good series for a young studio like Brains Base, serving as a good building block for Kurenai. Don't believe the Ghibli comparisons - it's better.

| If Ghibli were to make a television series, it will be very much like Kamichu. Kamichu has the signature quality of the standard Ghibli film; that is, there are nondescript characters that sporadically emit incredible charm…yet there is a draining tedium that is equally incredible. This is unfortunate because the main character is just loveable enough and the episodic plot is just quirky enough (I found it amusing that, in this show, being a god is not that big a deal); but in the end, my boredom reminded me that perhaps I’m a bit too old for this show.

| Kamichu is a slice of life looking fantasy anime centering around an unusually timid middle school girl who in the first minute of the series, reveals to her friend in her self conscious way that she became a god out of the blue. Apparently, this occurance is not nearly as freakish as one might think. In the world of Kamichu, gods are everywhere, wreaking havoc or helping out in large or small scales. While they are invisible to most, the world accepts and understands the existance of these creatures. Kamichu is indeed similar to a couple of Ghibli works but there are a few key differences.
The biggest of which is our main character. Yurie is like honey in a jar. She is much cuter than any Ghibli lead, and I don't mean this in the most positive way possible. If you do have enough of a sweet tooth, she may not be too much of a bother, but I quickly got tired of her constantly pouty voice. Luckily, her cuteness comes from her obscene shyness, and not some fetishicized anime lolita thing we too often see(thank the anime god), so i doubt there will be any puking going on. As an alternative though, the dub on Kamichu is actually very watchable, and not only does it give Yurie a slightly more regular, neutral voice, it also inserts some American colloquialisms that make the characters just a little bit more transparent for native english speakers. The dubbers really did the best they could, and I see no real mistakes, even if there are some awkward parts due to the untranslatable nature of certain japanese phrases ("gan bate" always comes out awkward on the english side).
Kamichu takes an episodic approach to story telling, and given this approach, each episode may be hit or miss. Most of the episodes are paced well with a mellow, amusing, slice of life paced set up, and a dramatic, Ghibli miraclesque climax. The world of Kamichu is definitely its greatest masterpiece though. It combines fantastical elements not unlike those in Spirited Away with something very normal, even homey, like the Tokyo suburb in Whisper of the Heart. What you get is a sense of magic and adventure, but in an environment that feels familiar, perhaps nostalgic.
The characters in Kamichu aren't moody, so you won't see multiple layers in any character's personality, but like any good slice of life anime, the characters are pretty collected so you won't be bombarded with the incesant cheese and crying of a regular drama. Kamichu is really light hearted fun, not only devoid of melodrama and angst, but even of punchline jokes. Kamichu's humor seems to be more character innate than punch line oriented (the scrubby local god who dreams of being a rockstar is one such innately funny character).
The animation and sound are top notch. The BGM's are feature film quality orchestrated pieces, and they suit all the moods in the show. The animation is not film level of course, but for a TV series, especially one with such a weird concept, it is quite spectacular. All the small, simple animations look beautifully slick, and that will be apparent from episode 1. The character designs are plain, in a nice way (they are regular middle school kids afterall) but the god creature designs are inspired, and very amusing.
It's a little hard for me to watch too much of Kamichu at a time, but in small doses, it is a charming title unlike any TV series I have seen.

| Kamichu is a cute, primarily comedic series that I would recommend for most anime fans for its creativity.
Unfortunately, while Kamichu is great at parts, it is very disappointing at others. The final episodes, especially, are quite bad, so expect disappointment.
But, the show is still well worth watching if you are looking for a light comedy.

| i like this anime,,, the main character is yurie, who suddenly became a god, but she is totally clueless about what to do about it. the animation of this anime is really great, its somewhat like the animation of spirited away, if you've seen that movie, there are wierd creatures or spirit in the town and only gods and some other gifted people can see them.. yurie's friends help her in her god business and also in middle school work and love affairs cause she really is clueless about everything,, but i'm sure you'll turn to love her.. so i really recommend this anime and you'll enjoy how yurie deals with being a god and a middle schooler at the same time...

| "Mitsue-chan! Today, I became a god!"
Yet another story about a child god, but this time with a Ghibli-style backup and picturesque animation to boot. One day, Yurie, a second-year junior high student, suddenly becomes a god and an overnight sensation! With the magical words "Kamichu!" she creates miracles and messes for all sorts of fun and wacky adventures, spicing up life in a quiet town on the edge of an inland sea!
From simple problems of love to a complication of a national scale, Kamichu! brings tons of magic and fun into the small world of a trio of charismatic girls, in which they fully exploit their friend's newfound power for the sake of the better. Episodic and summeresque are the perfect words to describe each of the 16 wonderful episodes to take leisurely time with. The trio of girls, along with the rest of the cast, are simply irresistable - cute and shy Yurie, outgoing and crazy Matsuri, and objective and 'Kyonish' Mitsue brings out the best of the Kamichu! powers and the simpler problems they must solve. The world of the gods, as fugly as most of them are, is a charming fantasy of Japanese culture. The romance throughout the year also grows between an unlikely couple as one strives to get the other to notice her. Cliche elements are scripted to throw away all the cheesiness and just let it play out in the breathtaking small-town feel, never once falling into the hole that most other anime series do. From the fantastic fantasy setting to the rural atmosphere, Kamichu! will make you smile in every episode.
This is simply a masterpiece everyone missed out on and should be watched by everyone who has watched and liked a Ghibli movie.

| Yurie becomes a Kami (spiritualist) and gains the ability to perceive and interact with the spirits that exist all around her. Animation looks to be done in HD and is generally quality and detailed. Sound is the usual fare, good voices and memorable music. Story is episodic, and the theme is heavily shinto. Characters are well-developed and varied. Value is okay, but I find the translation to be hit-and-miss (they translated Kami as God) and there isn't a lot of additional meteriel. Many of the places and some of the things featured in this anime are real, even if one doesn't believe in the shinto aspect.

| The best word to describe this anime would be cute. The main character is a 13 year old girl who becomes a god overnight and is experiencing her first love with a boy in her school.
The story is very simplistic: most of the anime is episodic in nature, as Yurie, the main character, goes through her daily life as a god with her two friends, Mitsue and Matsuri. Most of the story revolves around Yurie learning more things about being a god and using her powers to grant peoples'/things' wishes, and participating in her friend Matsuri's schemes (these schemes mostly involve promoting her shrine and the Shinto religion; one episode even has her creating a holiday to compete with Christmas). Also, throughout the story Yurie's crush on Kenji Ninomiya grows and their "relationship" develops.
Don't expect anything too complex out of this anime in terms of the story: most of the story is feel-good cutenness, with little drama, greif, or negative emotions of any kind.
One episode even has the Prime Minister of Japan call on Yurie to solve a problem with a martian which landed on earth (an utterly cute pink martian, of course).
The world itself is interesting, but we are left with many questions by the end of the anime. We never find out how or why Yurie became a god, what exactly she is the god of (most of the gods in the Kamichu world are gods of specific things: like the god of fried soba noodles, the god of rubber tires, the god of wind, and a local god.), and why, even though most people cannot see the gods, everyone believes that Yurie is a god and doesn't question how or why she became one.
Because of the simple and predictable story, it is the characters which carry the anime. Yurie is a likeable and cute main character and it is enjoyable to watch her forays into godhood as she struggles with her crush on Kenji. Mitsue and Matsuri are good supporting characters, with Matsuri's schemes and her enthusiasm for the Shinto religion and her shrine carrying the story at times. Mitsue is the level-headed friend, always supporting Yurie and questioning Matsuri's crazy schemes.
Other characters include Yurie's parents, who are both a little airheaded; Yurie's younger brother, who is probably the one person in the anime who acts like a normal person; Yashima-sama, the local god of Matsuri's shrine; and Matsuri's sister, a shy Miko.
The animation is pretty good; the entire atmosphere of the anime gives the impression of "cute and carefree", even the design of the gods themselves, who are all colorful and vibrant. My only problem with the animation of this anime was the attempt to make the character's mouths move along with the dialogue, which at times was very awkward because it didn't line up perfectly. Also, the world of the gods wasn't as interesting or original as it could have been, though it did fit the cute aspect of the anime.
The soundtrack isn't anything special; a few cute songs here and there, like the OP/ED songs, but not much during the anime. The voice actors did a good job, however.
I would reccomend this anime to those looking for a tranquil, carefree, and cute anime without conflict or tragedy. However, I probably will not rewatch it, as the anime feels a bit incomplete to me, and I was hoping for more information on the world of the gods and Yurie's place in that world. Also, at times the anime's predictability and simplicity caused me to get a bit bored, especially once I figured out about 5-6 episodes into the anime that the story wasn't really going anywhere and was going to be pretty episodic.

| After seeing Aria some 9 months a ago, I had no idea I could so quickly say I watched a series that made me feel even more warm and fuzzy.
There are two aspects of Kamichu that make it very enjoyable: the characters and the world. Every character can be described being adorable. Especially the main character Yurie blows every cute scale in the world. The story starts as she announces that she became a god previous night. The world shows it strength immeadiately. Nobody really thinks it's that strange a person becoming a god. Sure the prime minister calls her to help with visitors from outer space, she gets her own festival and her friend makes her keep a divine counceling booth at the school. But the point is that everyone thinks it's natural to have her do these things because she's god. Being a god is not that extraordinary. In addition to these duties as god she has her own love, school and family problems that make her do all kinds of cute pouting faces. Actually everything she does is cute. The kind of clumsy, good-hearted, exploitable, little selfish character she is, it's impossible not to like her. Okay, I'm waving hands here. It's hard to explain the natural, relaxed charm that every character of Kamichu emits. I just got this feeling of hugging everybody in the series.
Apart from the human characters, the world is populated by diverse amount different gods. Simply said everything has a god and Yurie encounters quite many of these as she gains to access to gods' world. And to their convention. Yes, gods have conventions like your average otaku. I can't but to love this kind rationalizing of godhood. Additionally these gods are designed with great imaginitive appearance. It creates a wonderful magical feeling to the series.
The stories handle as varied subjects as you can imagine. In one episode Yurie is having a very wacky adventure with a martian against the goverment, in the next you have a very touching story of sibling love. I enjoyed almost everyone of them because of the great mood. There's really no big plot to Yurie's adventures like finding out why she became god. The continuing themes are how Yurie can adapt to her role as a god (her nature definitely isn't suited for one!) and her one-sided love with a classmate. There isn't much character development involved but after the series is over you can say you understand the characters a bit better.
Production-wise there isn't much more to ask. As I said, the different gods have great desings and the humans look very pleasant and cute. The small and cozy feeling of Yurie's hometown is nicely mediated from the backgrounds. The animation itself is very lively with expressive faces and a lot of details in each scene. Voice actors do a terrific job, especially Yurie's acctress nails her down perfectly. Opening and ending songs are nice brisky songs and background music creates a good atmosphere with the pictures.
Kamichu practically breathes good attitude and joys of life and friendship. It's fun and bright with lovable characters. Simply said, it's the feel-good anime of all times.

| (based on all 16 episodes by....Chuchuchu fansubs in high quality H264 format that my relatively old PC was able to handle)
As many reviewers mentioned, sometimes while I was watching this anime, I thought that if Studio Ghibili decided to make a 13 episode series it would look a lot like Kamichu. Similarities with many Ghibili films like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart were apparent in some episodes. It managed to make me feel the sort of magic only Ghibili movies are able to produce. Unfortunately not all episodes were that good and 4-5 episodes were boring. But all the rest were from magical to funny.
I've also read some chapters of the first two manga volumes and I have to say that the anime is much better than the manga overall, thanks to the animation and the great characters. It shows how a manga adaptation should be made.
Now to describe the world of Kamichu would be much easier if the viewers have seen the abovementioned Ghibili films. World of magic and strange looking creatures from Japanese folk-tales, gods and demons, talking cats, jellyfish looking pink aliens and 4 middle-school girls in their daily life and their small adventures.
Yurie, a shy middle-school studentm becomes a god and whenever she spells ''Ka-mi-chu'' every wish of hers is granted at the cost of growing long hair and falling asleep from exhaustion. Her friends try to use that ability to their advantage, while Yurie herself seeks a way to approach the love of her life, like in Whisper of the Heart.
Not only that, all her environment learns about her abilities, she even becomes her own shrine, is revered and is called even by the government and the evil Prime Minister. While she must also attend some god convention in places taken right out of Spirited Away, while in another episode she turns into a cat, trying to save her kitty in the most funny episode (influences from The Cat Returns- no this Ghibili masterpiece is irrelevant to Black Cat)
Animation is simply Ghibilesque, though it has its own style and doesnt copy that popular studio. Colours and backgrounds are perfect and character's animation as well. The animals and the folk-tale creatures are very funny too. But any description is pointless. You have to see for yourselves. Also it has one of the best intros.
Since I'm no music expert, suffice it to say that the music fits to the magical mood and is calm overall, while it turns also funny at some points and tragic as well in the very few sad moments.
The characters are simple and adorable, especially the talking cat, thanks to the great design and animation. The voice actors did also a good job, but with such good animation they had a great help obviously. All the characters were memorable for that matter.
The story is pretty simplistic as well with an abrupt ending. Obviously the manga was still going on, but I'm not interested in reading it since it isnt as good as Someday's Dreamers manga, though in the anime adaptation Kamichu anime is much better. But if you like Ghibili movies you will not mind.
Most of the episodes are worth rewatching and I'd recommend this anime at your collection whenever the licensed DVDs come out. For Ghibili fans this is a must watch, since no other series comes so close to their magic.

| Kamichu is one of these very simple anime which paradoxically manages to be very close to perfection.
While its main character -Yurie, middleschoolgirl - is a god whose powers can create a typhoon or revive the past, the keyword to describe Kamichu! would be simplicity. Simple stories, simple events, simple feelings...and yet, when mixed together, an incredible anime comes out of the whole.
It is also a perfect example of how an excellent animation can transform an anime.
If you love fantastic worlds you should not miss the one of Kamichu!.
P.S. : The graphical design of Kamichu! has NOTHING to do with the picture displayed.

| I just see this strange name
"Kamichu! ~ Kamisama wa Chugakusei ~" somewhere and was quite curious, so I give it a try. It was definetly a good idea. But it's quite hard to review it, so good it is.
The simplicity and the naivety of everything (animation, musics, story, characters, humour, ...) in Kamichu is so touching. I am amazed how animation of Yurie can convey so many feelings. For instance the way she blushes.
Animation have good colors, somehow fascinating. I feel quite captivated by Kamichu.
The universe is perfectly enchanting. All these "kami", the shrine life, the simple highschool life of Yurie (who is by the way a god)...a peacefull town.
I suppose also it could be a good way to learn about a few japanese manners in shrine, but that's not the main point, just another fairy component of the universe.
No outstanding plot, no mysterious organisation. Just the enchanting universe of kamis.

| A middleschool god, an inspiring rockstar god, a talking cat, supernatural stuffs.. What more can you asked from Kamichu? Coupled with it's picturesque and scenic drawings and pale water tone colours. It has captivated me.
Initially, I checked out this anime, halfheartedly,as my friend was all giving kudos to its quality animation. I was thinking how interesting can a "highschool magic" theme anime be?*God knows how common that sort of theme is* But I am pleasantly surprised.
Even though there isn't any fluid fighting action, suspensful plot or evil villains, Kamichu has captured viewers' hearts. The story is told and presented with such simplicity that(I feel) it makes complex-storylines anime pales so much in comparison.
This anime tells me that 'hey an anime with a simple plot can make it out on its own too!'

| Unbelievable... Thats the only thing I can come up with after having seen the first episode. From the first minute already I fell in love with the animation! It reminded me a bit of Miyazaki (not in terms of style, but in terms of animating characters). Never have I seen a regular anime which portrayed non-verbal language (with talking and emotions) so well.
As for the rest, the theme and setting also reminded me of Miyazakis works like Spirited away. The spirits and all are exactly like that. So far, I think of the story as promising. It doesnt need to get epic, but at this moment, as a lighthearted comedy/romance, it does its job extremely well, and the soundtrack only strengtens that big time.
The only thing I thought of as strange were the characters. Not the main characters, but the characters from the environment at the last bits of the first episode. Immediately everyone saw the main character as a god, without questioning it. It doesnt matter anyway, this just saves some useless banter.
I think I am going to enjoy this big time. Maybe I will redo the review when I have seen everything.

| When watching Kamichu, you will immediatly think, Hayou Miyazaki?
I have never seen an anime more deserving of a perfect score. If I could put one word down on here without getting deleted, I would put the word amazing. One of the most brilliant things I have ever seen in my life. I don't see how ANYONE could not give the animation less than a 10. It's like, all of Miyazaki's animations combined into one. It's that great. This is like, created by the same people who made ROD TV. It's pretty much five gazillion times better in story, character, and animation quality. And I'm sure anyone who has watched ROD TV noticed Yumiko in the background of episode one. :D
I've only seen 2 episodes, but Kamichu's story is moving at rapid speed and episode 1 made a great first impression. Sadly, I'm not particurally interested in seeing the rest of Kamichu! after watching episode 2. All I know, is that episode one is a must watch. Rather you want to watch the rest of the series or not, just the first episode of Kamichu! is an spectacular treat to any one who enjoys films made by Hayou Miyazaki.
I'm almost ashamed that I thought Kamichu would be a cliche ecchi magic type show by looking at the picture. But now I know that I was completely wrong. A must watch!

| This is amazing, I can't stress it enough. It's like Miyazaki's influence finally hit television in a really good way, and it's in HDTV too! The animation's fluidity isn't exactly great, as you could probably use ~14.98 fps and still see almost the same exact thing--rating it a 7. However, the detail, story, and the characters make up for that in a blink.
It's too early to tell how good the story will get, but as an overall impression, the only other thing I shall rate is the enjoyment factor and give it a 9. It certainly has raised my expectations for this season. Good watching!

| The first scene of the first episode hooked me big time. Its been a long time since a show has attracted my attention so quickly. So far, this show is the reason why I waste time watching so many anime, looking for those gems that make it all worth while.
The replay value of the first episode for me is very high.
Episode 3 had a bad moment with the cat, but hopefully that is an anomaly.
This show has major potential, hopefully the writers can live up to what they started.

| Kamichu is very refreshing for me, as someone who has always had a close affinity for nature in much the same way that Yurie can see the shark and aluminum can spirits. The animation is very fluid, and the large amount of solid colors in the god's refuge helps to accentuate the very lively, surreal colors.
Although the series touches on a bit of the frustration of granting people's wishes, as a whole, it stays low-scale, proposing that solving everyday problems is the key to solving the large-scale conflicts. It helps keep the episodes simple, but also dodges some of the more difficult problems associated with being a god. I do hope that later story arcs will take this plot one step further.
So far, the pace is very good, but I'm only on episode 3, so I'll update this review periodically. Meanwhile, I have partially filled out the optional fields on this one.
Give it a try - it's probably not for everyone.

| Based on 3 eps ...
So far this is a really lovely anime. The setup "middle schooler becomes a god" makes it seem like it could be an over the top comedy, but it's very low key and even slow-moving.
It's quite reminiscent of Miyazaki in it's depiction of the world, with lots of spirit creatures, gods, and other forces around the humans.
So far the storyline has only touched on Yurie's powers, but I think one of the main themes will be that having supernatural powers doesn't magically make one's life perfect. Yurie is a bit of a Peter Parker, insecure and uncomfortable with her newfound powers and status, and this is quite charming.
Definitely worth checking out, and I'm hoping that it lives up to the promise its showing.
