For animation, characters seemed to be drawn better. Background looks cheaply done. The color, or painting, looks blotchy. It has a little computer generated graphics, but that's it.

Sounds are nice, but it didn't seem spectacular. Music has that soft lovely tone. All the sounds are clear, but doesn't have that awe taste to it.

Story isn't too great. Basicly, this OVA is just a rehash of the series, but in a different perspective. Nothing truely new happens to Chise, and Shu-chan never appeared. This OVA doesn't have anything to advance the story or to clarify the story.

In the Saikano OVA, there's one new character that is introduced that went easily unnoticed, Mizuki. There's some development for her, but nothing serious. Her history and feelings was the backbone of this OVA.

In the end, I felt this OVA was no good at all. Since this is just a recap, I already knew what happened, and thus nothing interesting occurred. Studio Fantasia introduced a new character, but just introducing a new character isn't enough to make this OVA good. There wasn't anything else new. So I recommend all viewers to just skip this OVA.

I can understand the feelings of those people who watched the anime and that this ova wasn't what they'd expected. However, I must say that I really enjoyed this. Why? Well, that's because I didn't watch the anime but READ the manga. In my opinion, this OVA was made to explain some things that werent explained in the manga. I think that accounts for such low ratings on this OVA since many people just watched the anime.

The animation was superb, many action scenes and explosions. Everything was beautifully drawn, extrememly well done.

The sound wasn't bad, just 1 song in the OVA though, sound effects and voice acting were both good as well.

Well, not much story in this, only that it filled in gaps that Saikano left out. However, it was enjoyable.

Not many new characters in this one, only 1 major new character. However, simply her existance just astonished me (as there was no mention of her in the manga)

Value, for me, this OVA was very good. For those people who really didn't like this, go try reading the manga. It will make more sense afterwards. For Saikano fans, the manga is really worth reading.

I really enjoyed this short 2 ep OVA.

Saikano is an anime that in my opinion has a real ending. That means, I doubt there will be a sequel or any other additional story to the original story. Also, the manga ended as well. So for all you people waiting for new Saikano stuff, I really doubt there will be more. However, that is not bad. Numerous other anime really doesn't have an ending. It just simply stops. And I really hate that. Saikano has a proper ending, and that beats out many anime series out there.

This time round, the focus shifts on the military side of the story, most new material, although the reason for the war is still left unexplained.

Which could be a problem for many, but I never cared for an explanation anyway, the love story going on was enough to keep me interested. However, in this OVA, though there’s a lot of talk about love, there wasn’t many scenes to back it up. If anything , this OVA fills some of the gaps that existed in many of the audiences’ mind about what happened to Chise when she was gone from Shuji.

Expect almost the same quality of animation as the series. Music wasn’t used too much in the anime itself but the ending theme was very heart-warming – summing up the OVA quite nicely.

There wasn’t too much excitement in the OVA, it’s just gap filling, having said that, I’m still really glad they made this. Just don’t expect the same impact as the original series.

Saikano Another Love Story is hardly a love story.. but it certainly is another part of Saikano. It mostly focuses on Chise losing her humanity as she is becoming more and more of an ultimate weapon, and various underlying reasoning of Chise's behavirs in the series.

However, I found this to be a little boring, slow and uneventful... and I wonder what made me finish watching Saikano in the first place (this also doesn't contain as much melodramatic tearful totally depressing events)

... I guess it is a good supplement to watch immediately after watching the middle few episodes of Saikano, but otherwise if Saikano is long in your past or you didn't think much of it, this is a complete waste of time.

Being a follow up to Saikano (duh!) this was probably doomed before it even began. With just 2 episodes, it would have been hard to turn around the bad impression that the series left me.

Not surprisingly, I couldn't really get into the anime, but what did surprise me was the vast improvement on the series. Not only did the animation go up a notch, but also it didn't repeat its predecessor's mistake of trying too hard and cramming in too many tragic events. The feelings in this one felt a lot more realistic, though that's not saying much. Some of the changes in the characters feels too sudden to be natural, but I guess it's hard to produce quality character development in just an hour. And, not surprising they managed to cram in YET ANOTHER love triangle. What's more, this additional one almost feels as if it's thrown in just because of the anime's intended "love story" nature.

It served its purpose well of filling the viewer in with a few badly needed patches of details that wasn't there in the series. Not all holes were filled... but then again, you wouldn't expect it to manage to fill the ocean size holes left by the series with just 2 episodes. The sci fi aspect is still mostly muddled, and the war aspect unexplained, however, the addition of the ova gives answers to questions such as why the Chise's seems to be the only weapon, and what was happening to her towards the end.

Anyway, it's a decent ova that's done what's it's supposed to do pretty well. Maybe we'll see more of these once the producers figure out what is supposed to be going on with the rest of the story ;)

This OAV of Saikano answers some of the questions that were not answered from the TV series like how and why Chise was chosen as the ultimate weapon. The OAV is told from the military's point of view who seemed very desperate at using the high school girl in what Chise later calls their "little game of war" not caring much for the psychological trauma it caused Chise.

The animation quality is definitely up a notch seeing as this is an OAV which puts more emphasis on the war. Sound wise, music was great for the drama of this OAV and the seiyuu were actting very well, especially with the addition of Lt. Mizuki, an excellently developed character. Being one who has dedicated her entire life to the military, she is a contrast to the normal life that Chise had lived before being chosen as the ultimate weapon. She puts her life before others shown through her interactions with Chise and Tetsu who still have concerns beyond the battlefront thus continuing Saikano's great emphasis on character development. However, this OAV still has some issues with its plot, especially with the big plot hole of what the big issue is in fighting the war. I also noticed that there were some events of the TV series that were not properly portrayed with the OAV, especially with how the ending was portrayed. But, the OAV gave more realism than the TV series so this is forgiveable.

Overall, I'd say this OAV is a must-see to Saikano fans who want an answer to some of the show's major plot holes. While it won't provide all the answers everyone seeks, Saikano: Another Love Song provides more depth to Chise's character and puts more emphasis on the action in the war being fought, a treat for those who crave action in their anime.

I truely enjoy this ovas more than the original tv series. This one might be shorter but it deliver the part where tv one fail to.

The Romance which focus on Lt. Mizuki is touching story fill with sadness of the warzone. It remind us that the story is in the setting where war are over the place and everyone are dying and fighting for the country they respect(lives) for. Good things you already seen some of these char on tv series making this ovas complete without having to go all and show the whole plot again.

Lt. Mizuki might not be cute(or beautiful no offend) as Chise but she got her part right. Start off with her feeling and developed into a great lovly story. On the male part Mizuki's lover(Tetsu?) are going great except the ending kinda left it short~ but if you remember(I don't really..) the tv series ,there's something into the guy dead which make this ova completed.

Overall this one had more touching feeling to it and make it more real than tv-series. This one get the sad feeling that both Mizuki & Chise had to the audien than tv series. Another word OVA done it right this time. :D

OVA episodes of very polarized-opinioned anime Saikano, we would expect this anime to fill in some plot holes which made this anime very unreal, but this anime resudes to explain them in any detail. But in it I think lies the point of this whole anime, and this OVA makes it even more clear: The maker want us to feel sympathy for Chise for fighting a reasonless war.

This premise and intent is supported by the Mizuki Lt. At first she is dedicated to the military, but she discovers that in this nonsense of an debacle called war, Chise does not belong there. Mizuki believes that Chise deserves to have a life that she desires. That is the feeling maker tries to convery to us in this OVA and to that extent it is done very well.

But it all really comes down to, "what else do we have?" We are left with no real new information, just little bit more war scenes and more angst. We see a stronger and focus message here which accompliments the anime well, but I was left saying "so what?"

One of the mjor reason why I think this happened tome was because The emotional content of the series already very powerful and overblown. We've already seen the same message, and I wasn't really expecting the same thing in a different context.

This anime does not answer some key questions that I think would enhance the understanding of this anime... like I said. they just refuse to do it.

Animation and music is along he same line of the first. All the characters are still pretty ugly and very simple (yea I don't like the character design). The sketchy style works well in Manga, but not in anime.

If you liked Saikano, however, you have no reason to Not watch this anime. You will enjoy it. this anime have nothing new, but it isn't as emotional overblown as the other one, and Mizuki is a interesting addition to this series. I say watch this even if you didn't like saikano all that much. It's only a hour anyways.
