Okay japanese people DO make good anime for children, they just happpen license all the bad ones to air on tv for kids in the US (all shonens right?).

And this is one of them.

Awful animation, it's very generic - typical shonen, it looks really cheap and it's below average. I was floored when I found out it was actually from 2005.

Sound - the dub is awful, no one sounds like that (none of the voices fit) and the voice acting is atrocious. The editing of the text is awkward and lame, the way no one talks like. The BGM is annoying.

the plot is very typical shonen and it has that plot that's usually pulled off crapppily many times which is ____ travels to another world (NG Lamune, is so awesome at that but unfortunately not fansubbed)

The main character is annoying and cliche, annoying shonen carbon copy. There is a ridiculous character which is some sort talking object, I mean I'ev seen animes that have some of the most ridicdulous characters on paper, from a picture but when i saw; it was pulled off well that I didn't feel stupid watching a talking dog, etc. But this anime makes me feel stupid watching a talking object, I mean it can be done but this anime cannot.

for actual good shows for children watch akazukin cha cha, gakuen alice, saint tail, or watch NG Lamune (1990) RAW which is far more enjoyable then watching this with every line translated perfectly.

There are many kids’ anime out there, and only a lucky few come off as being good. Unfortunately, MAR is not one of them. Combining unbelievably cheap animation; pathetic music; a wannabe-original story and entertaining but flat characters, MAR succeeds in being a big mess. The story is generic and predictable right from the start and it doesn’t look like its going to “get better later on”.

However, even though MAR is terrible in almost every aspect, it isn’t as boring as one would expect. The comedy is extremely silly. It relies on crazy facial expressions and the near puke-inducing artwork makes these scenes even funnier!

The ridiculously exaggerated facial expressions aside, the humor of the show works pretty well. Although the show isn’t funny enough to be considered a comedy, it’s still entertaining to watch. If anything, like Appleseed (2004), MAR manages to be funny even when humor isn’t intended.

Overall, MAR is one of the worst titles of 2005, and possibly one of the worst anime of all time. But it’s good for a laugh, even if it has absolutely no collectable/ re-watch value.

This anime is like flame of recca (since its by the same author) but better as its not some stupid fighting anime most of the time, which is still is but in this anime, its quite light hearted, though you still get that DBZ competition fighiting in this anime. This anime is meant for boys who are around 8 years old. The anime is very easy to understand, and its really looking at the fighting scenes.

By the same author as Recca, I read the manga and was extremely looking forward to it being animated. When the anime came out, it was a mix feeling.

Story wise, the anime remains faithful to the manga thus far, and makes good use of the episodes' time to move along with the story.

The animation was fine, but it could have done better WITHOUT the use of CG. It kills the spirit of the anime.

While this is a simple adventure into a new world type of anime, the animes of 2005 are lacking in this kind of simplistic unique series that were so common in the 90s.

Since only few episodes have been released, not much can be said. However, this does look promising.

This anime has a very typical plot. It reminds me too much of the Hunter x Hunter OVA's... but not in a good way.

The basic idea of this anime: throw some loser into a big dream world where he's the STRONGEST IN TEH WORLD. Been done a million times, and it's boring. Why they haven't realised this is beyond me.

This anime overall is pretty good. Though it may not be for everyone it still rox. The worst eps of this anime was the first one. Though i know it is the intro, they should have been more creative. The other eps are getting better.

*based on first episode, will update in time*

The first half of this episode was all about saying how much of a loser the main character (Ginta) is , not done the keitaro way but really explicitly, too explicitly in fact. I really havn't related to him.

Then, at some point they throw him in an awkward fantasy world with rings called arms that can be summoned into monsters, realy cheesy, and to top it all, out of place CG animation for some reason.

Only watch this show if you can endure insane ammounts of cheesyness, or if you're a kid.

The episode 2 will have to be nothing short of spectacular to make up for this inherent lack of "subtilitée" (don't know the exact english word, sorry.)

Hey, it's MÄR. Since I liked the manga so much, I've even started to fansub this series.

CG does feel out of place, but like the other dude said, it's really good quality - far from Gonzo though.

The story will not revolve around collecting stupid ärm-weapons, either. It's gonna kick ass.

Perfect voice-actors, too. Yay~

Just watched the first episode. It seems like many of the 2005 animes are about the main character going into parallel universes. (Mar Heaven, Izumo, Bleach - going into shinigami world) It sounds similar to Law of Ueki in a way. (the way that there's going to be lots of tournament between magic users) The music used the show is pretty entertaining. For those of you who played "Maple Story", a 2d adventure game similar to RO. It has sounds similar to it.

The CG used are pretty kewl, above average to those in 2005. As the reviewer said below, the CG used seems to get out of place some times. However, it adds a new feel to the show.

I think this show will get interesting.

The story seems fairly generic so far -- a kid who is a geek in middle school gets sucked into an alternate world, where he's suddenly super strong, and he embarks on adventure. It feels very much like it's based on a video game; the plot seems like in the future, it will revolve mostly about collecting magical items that summon creatures.

The quality of animation is fairly good, although if I didn't know better, I would think the show is several years old; the style isn't slick and polished like a lot of new shows that are coming out. The music decent; I didn't mind any of it, but nothing really stuck out, either.

Despite all that, I really enjoyed the first episode. The show just seems to have some inexplicable, earnest quality about it that you don't see very much anymore. If you like oldschool fantasy adventure anime, you'll probably like this. I intend to continue watching it.
