| FMP TSR is very good, when it refers to action. A lot of combats, great robots, a good story (better than the first, because it íncludes few comic parts, and when creators try to, they don't do it succesfully. Sound is great, in the soundtracks and in the field (battles).
But I think that the characters weren't worked well, like in FMP! When they try to be comic, they are almost stupid (like in Fumoffu!). In FMP! characters weren't so weird in comic situations, and they always were more complex and more interesting in the way that they communicated each other:
For example, when Kaname meets Sousuke almost in the end, the meeting is so weird and stupid...they always fall when they try to make comic or romantic scenes! It was not in that way in FMP! In the last episode of FMP, we can watch a mature Sousuke sharing time with Kaname, fishing and being together very comprenetrated after a lot of fights! Beautiful scene! I missed the characters in their human aspects. But when it came to action scenes, the characters looked great!
If I had to talk about the value of the series, this is one of the most rewatchable series I have seen, and FMP! too. But mecha animes are not very popular, and the story is not very original, so I will put just an 8 on this point.

| eing the second in the series to the highly acclaimed Full Metal Panic, this anime has quite a lot to live up to. I have watched all the episodes, let me give you an overview of what i think. Bear in mind the fact that I am quite fond of Full Metal Panic in the whole, so i may sound kind of biased.
Animation- They seemed to have really stepped up the quality of animation in this one. It is much better than the first series and quite better then Fumoffu. It has incredibly smooth animations and its not just in fight scenes, every scene has an amazingly smooth look to it. The mech battles in this one have improved a lot with better angles and faster-paced action. The backgrounds have a lot of detail in them rendering every little thing down to the smallest detail. In one episode I even noticed a background that had characters from the manga Death Note subtly doing their thing. The violence in this one has been tuned up 2 notches at least. Blood splatters realistically and brain matter explodes from headshots. The level of detail in certain violent scenes has given me chills it looks so real sometimes. The violence feels so realistic and adds to the depth of the more serious tone of this series.
Sound- The original actors for the first series return to lend their voices once again. The other series always had really good music and it shines through into this one as well. The theme song will remind many of the style of the first. It is interesting how they made americans speak english and the chinese speak fluent chinese. This level of detail is awesome, with the military feel of the anime being boosted by it. I always felt that the sound-effects in FMP were top-notch and this series is no different. In particular note, the voice-actor for Sousuke does an amazing job in this one, at one particular point he has a breakdown and you can really feel his emphasis and hatred at the moment.
Story- The Story is awesome with many twists and turns I didnt expect. It has the mix of romance, school fun, mecha action, and military tricks that the other series contained. The series continues on after the other and has a similar terrorism feel to it, but it seperates itself from the other in numerous ways. The main terrorist is betrayed by his cronies, because of their hatred for Mythril anda Sousuke`s team. This makes for another interesting conflict. Also I won`t ruin it, but an order to Sousuke makes him lose control and it is very interesting to see Sousuke in that circumstance because he is usually holds his emotions under perfect control. So far I don`t have a real big idea of the plot and whats goin on, so I wont eleborate too much on it, but that`s bound to change as the series continues past the 7 episodes that are out.
Character- Okay I was waiting for this section because in my opinion this is where this series really shines. The new characters in the show are amazingly deep and very different. The head terrorist acts insane all the time, killing his subordinates then screaming at their lifeless corpses. At one point he was sitting naked in a dark room watching a movie theater size screen with a puppy and sunflowers on it. If thats not crazy weird then I dont know what is. Other new characters of note are the lesbian sisters who pilot their mechs with an amazing flair. One of the girls at one point is dressed in a Chun-li-esque outfit, with buns and all. She then proceeds to go about chopping people to bits. The characters that came from the other series continue their excellent depth and design as well, but the newcomers are sure to take your attention and make you wonder.
Value and Enjoyment- This is a very very well done series. It has more of the stuff that made the first so great: panty shots galore, amazing mech action, cool plots and characters, and sweet, if not better animation. The only reason I can see for some to not watch this is if you did not like the first series. If you liked the first one, then this is sure to be right up your alley. The humor and action in this kick the enjoyment up a notch. In conclusion I will say that I am very glad that FMP is back.

| And the panic keeps going, it seems. I was not too fond of the first series, nor the Fumoffu comedy, but this actually was quite ok.

| TSR is a wonderful action adventure that anyone (who can tolerate a bit of mech) will love. Despite being a sequel series, I believe that the execution was done in a manner that far surpasses the original. You can't help but enjoy it.

| Indeed FMP second raid is a whole different anime. You could definitely see the difference between the first series...
THE GOOD:
>Better story line.
>Better fights, and better choreography pf the fight.
>Improvements on character development.
>Alot of story twist and unexpected turns.
>The twins are really sexy(UhHmm u know what I mean!!!) :D
The Bad:
>Too few episodes.5 or more episodes should more fun.
>Fights are over quickly especially the final battle.the fight should have been extended for at least another episode.
>some question that hang on the first series still left unanswered.
Over all this series is worth watching. The only thing is, you have to watch the first one to understand what's going on.

| There are two things Full Metal Panic is famous for. One, for continuously placing its socially inept main character into situations that never cease to be hilarious (it just doesn’t get old, man); and two, making Gonzo look completely incompetent. Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid is a pleasant surprise; not only is it actually GOOD, but it expounds upon what we already know about the characters. Sousuke is no longer just some maniac that will shoot a hamburger if it looks suspicious enough. Chidori is no longer just some high school chick with a power no one (including the audience) knows anything about. Whereas the first season was a mediocre and mindless action series, The Second Raid is an excellent mindless action series.
…the anime begins smack dab in the middle of….well…..stuff involving bullets and hostages. If there’s one thing that The Second Raid has aplenty it’s its awesome action scenes. In fact, every scene with the “killer twins” were not only fantastic, but genuinely scary, as well. Every scene with one of them had me saying either “oh shit!” or “man, your ass better run!” It’s also worth mentioning that the series is gorier than the original ever was; at least two scenes are downright graphic. With that aside, the series opts for a little comedy in the first few episodes. Any FMP fan knows what to expect by this: Sousuke has a hilarious misunderstanding of a completely innocent situation. This is actually done very well (as it still manages to be funny even after Fumoffu), but sometimes the comedy is a bit awkward (i.e., episode two)….but not nearly so much as the first installment. Even with its short thirteen episode length, The Second Raid manages to wrap up in a satisfying (albeit slightly corny) way. Here’s hoping for The Third Raid.
I’m no squealing fan-girl (very very far from it), but even I must begrudgingly admit that a big part of FMP is the relationship between Sousuke and Chidori. ….and, on the surface, there’s very little of it here. Heck, Chidori may as well have been a minor character in the first half of the series. However, their relationship is actually portrayed very well here, and this is because they’re apart and not in spite of that. Chidori earned a spot on my best anime female list from episode nine alone. She decides to stop waiting for her knight in shining armor to rescue her from the big bad wolf and fend for herself. And boy does she. That’s what I’m talkin’ bout. And she does this all while revealing how vulnerable she really is. You don’t see that much anymore. As for Sousuke-student number 41, in charge of garbage and umbrella duty- well, he starts to question, uh, what’s really important to him and his future. His little epiphanies are also well-done. Now there’s the villain, Mr. Gates. Not since Hamdo from Now and Then, Here and There have I seen a villain so delightfully over-the-top. The dude has some serious issues (there’s a scene with him singing “Ave Maria” while there’s men being slaughtered around him), but he’s just about the comic relief in the series. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but it doesn’t take away from the anime. It adds to the whole, you know, "damn, this is kind of senseless, but damn! I can't help watching it anyway" thing.
I can never resist taking shots at Gonzo, and I think I’ll have one now. They should be embarrassed. The Second Raid is a vast improvement from the original series (and its sequel which was also created by Kyoto); Gonzo used this exact material and messed it up and another studio took the reins and created something worthwhile. I’m no FMP fan, but if future series turn out like this, I could easily become converted.

| I really like the direction Kyoto Animation has taken Full Metal Panic with Fumoffu and The Second Raid. They have done a fabulous job in blending comedy with drama and making it work. Just looking at how many anime have tried to do this and fallen flat on their face, I've got to give my commendations; excellent work.
The animation, I felt, was a slight step down from Fumoffu. Though still impressive, it lacked the detail and polish in quite a few scenes; the last episode comes to mind. There are a few exceptional bouts of animation, however, which are definitely worth noting. Kyoto Animation has certainly begun to build a positive image in my mind, as production quality such as this seems standard.
We have a beautiful new opening theme to go along with The Second Raid as well as a nice ending theme. Background music and placement were alright, nothing all that special, though. Again the Seiyuu is exceptional for Sousuke and Chidori. Really not all that much new to say; what you saw in Fumoffu you'll see again here.
The Second Raid takes a more serious twist than the original, however. Though the first half of the series maintains its humor, it gradually shifts to a darker tone. There is a lot of violence, gore, and nudity present, though all serve their purpose. I was impressed with how perverted, sadistic, and disgusting they made the main villain to be; you really started to hate his guts after the first minute. The mixture of the two assassin girls is also interesting but not really explored as well as it could have been. In addition, the fact that every AS in The Second Raid has a Lambda Driver is a bit annoying, as it makes no sense logically to the story. In the end, it's a typical action plot with above-average execution, but like its predecessor has a few too many plot holes to be considered anything great.
I particularily like how Sousuke and Chidori grow as characters with each installment while at the same time maintaining their humorous charm. There is a nice bout of emphasis put on their growing romance, and it's interesting to see how Sousuke responds. The Second Raid adds some more serious layers of depth under Sousuke's skin, all of which are quite beneficial. The more you get to know the characters the funnier FMP becomes. My only gripe here is that there are a few important scenes with Chidori earlier on in the series, followed by her thrust into oblivion for a few episodes. As such, the emotional impact of the last episode was substantially lessened and didn't achieve the "umph" to the Sousuke-Chidori relationship that I thought it could have possibly done.
The ending of The Second Raid segues nicely into a future installment as well, however, which we hopefully will be seeing fairly soon. They leave room to fill in the gaps that The Second Raid had upon conclusion so I'm not completely disappointed. Kyoto Animation is now 2/2 in their FMP successes and I have no doubt they can do it again in a third. We shall see.
Highly recommended.

| I watched this after FMP Season 1 expecting a bit less, but I found this series the best of its kind for good. A most enjoyable series, successfully covering all parts of its themes equally, for anyone interested in any of its genre for action, romance, comedy, enigma et cetera.

| I can't believe that this stuff keeps getting better. The lastest edition to FMP proves to be just as good as the other.
Animation: 10
The action sequences are really hard to do, but this show does them to perfection. Also, the shading and the complexity of the images show the true magnitude of the show.
Sound: 9
The only weak point in the show. the opening and ending were good but not the best i heard.
Story: 10 Character: 10
Finally the characters get a little more depth. The show is a little darker than the others, but keeps the comedy that it became famous for. The bonus is the development of Sagara and Chodori (sp?). They truely find their way through the series and get closer to each other.
Value: 10
A great edition to FMP family. A must own series for any anime fan. I say i will watch atleast another 4 times.
Enjoyment: 10
As i always say to FMP, the perfect combination of comedy, romance, action, and mecha.
the latest great of Full Metal Panic Family.

| If you liked Full Metal Panic! then there is absolutely no reason not to like Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. The type of story is basically the same: secret organization + giant robots + world conflicts + explosions. Add to that, the cliche of an unknown enemy that seems to be almost as strong as the good guys... and that's The Second Raid in a nutshell.
There is a more dark edge in this sequel. While you have the usual mecha fights, you also have a better development of one of the main characters, Sagara. In the Second Raid, he doesn't seem as much of a clown and you actually see him take responsability and carry the weight of his work.
Gone too (with much pity) is almost all of the genial humor which was the mark of Fumoffu! and the first episodes of the original FMP. They left the blondies stupid jokes/playboy behavior which was the worse they could have done.
Overall, the changes aren't that significant. Of the three series, Fumoffu! is definitely the winner, but The Second Raid has a lot of improvements over the original series, in terms of plot, even if it's missing other important things (like humor).

| The gods of KyoAni have... is there a need for a repeat of what I've already said? And this time, they've put nearly all my feelings of GONZO's production out and amaze me with their pro-production skills.
Capitalizing after the temporary break from action that was Fumoffu!, The Second Raid starts with a bang, climaxes at a bang, and ends with a bang, all while having a perfectly executed weaving plotline between the situations of Sousuke and Kaname and bringing out the best of both characters in their situations. Oh, and making changes to the character cast was an AWESOME decision as well. I don't know how they do it!
Continuing the franchise, the opening action-packed episode reintroduced us to the world of Full Metal Panic!: Arm Slaves, military involvement, blood and guns and more. Though none of the Whispered stuff is expanded, it still provides ample entertainment that makes you forget about those mysteries to just enjoy the well wrought out story, characters, and villains.
This time, the villains get a HUGE spotlight on them that makes them very likeable in a strange way. Insane and barbaric, Gates is one of those rare villains that freaks you out but charming at the same time. Whenever he kills someone, it is just too funny. Whenever he gets behind a lambda driver, he's believeable to be nearly invincible. Whenever he jacks off to squirrel pr0n... Well at least the scene lasts no longer than 30 seconds or so. The other main villains this time around are the twincestous Chinese assassins. Originally twin boys in the novel, KyoAni decides to spice things up with a little fanservice by changing their gender and cruelly plays with them (or the author is cruel, KyoAni is just following the plot). I felt a great loss when they get killed off, especially when the death scenes can make you rip your heart out from the sadness (both the feelings and the fanservice).
Sousuke and Chidori are still the same awesome pair as they were, but upgraded with life and emotion. Though nowhere complete, the development between the two was a major influence on the war against the villains, and thankfully made the ending barely believeable. Some may say there's too much angst and 'emo' involved, but hey it works!
Though it's the same-old must-kill-new-villain recycling, The Second Raid takes it to another level with KyoAni's help. I'll predict that the novels could be read the same way as any other recycled material, but the way the story is handled in animation form gets a lot of vibes and credibility.
The only element bad about TSR is the return of Gauron. I could not believe he could survive from the last episode of the first season, but then again the season made the statement that he is pretty much invincible. Though the only scene with him was excellent (in addition to him getting shot multiple times), I only hope that he doesn't return as a freaking cyborg next season. Rest in silence, please.
Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid! is a great pain reliever of the first season, a great continuation of the FMP franchise, a great story, and a hopeful for the release of a third season. Go KyoAni Go!

| Sleek animation, adrinalin pumping action, and a decent plot containing many twists and turns, I really should have enjoyed this more than I did. I lay the blame on one of my friends, who hyped it up way too much. I mean, it was great, but it could have been better if I wasn't expecting more - there is no way I can say that this was the best anime ever, or even one of the best, like my friend had claimed.
A generally good overall anime that succeeds in almost everything it attempts, it nevertheless contains some flaws, and lacks that certain I-don't-know-what that makes the differentiation between a great anime and one of the greats, the kind that makes you love it even when it's uber hyped. Berserk had it, even though the ending ruined it, FMA had it enough to overcome my general hate for anime comedy. FMP TSR however, doesn't have "it".
Presentation wise, TSR is virtually impeccable. Wonderfully rich colours and clear animation combined with the great CG makes this an absolute treat for the eyes. The only thing is, the characters look so great for the most part that Chidori's slightly exaggerated style that reflects her rather loud personality seems out of place when everything else looks so perfect.
This is reflected in the content of the anime too. TSR is mostly serious, and when it is serious, it was, for the most part, really good, but occasionally they tried slip in some comedy, and it just didn't work.
The story is well executed, and contain enough twists in the story to keep you on the edge of your seat, but there's probably nothing that extraordinary about it, nothing you've not seen a couple of times before from somewhere. However, there still doesn't seem to be much information on the whispered etc that was left unexplained in the first season - I guess Kyoto Animation studios didn't feel like wiping Gonzo's ass after they took over from them following season 1 of FMP.
In many ways, the characters made and broke the show. My friend was especially liked the way developed Souseke out of his box personality in TSR, and though it didn't quite have the same effect for me, I can see what he is getting at. But possibly this was the only good bit of character development in TSR.
Like with the first season of FMP, I really feel the need to let off some steam with a "Tessa rant". "Watch TSR, then you'll see why Tessa makes such a good captain." My friend told me, when I said that a character like Tessa being captain is absurd. It's true that in this one Tessa shows some backbone, but it's also true that previous to the incident she acted like the little girl that she is. It also speaks volumns when her subordinate were all so surprised that she could show such backbone... such faith they place in their commanding officer :P Conversation between Tessa and her superior also indicated that her superior also had doubts about her ability to be captain, but that she had insisted. So let me get this straight, her superior didn't think she was suitable, and yet let her be captain anyway just cos that is what she wanted?? Just what kind of a jackass military organisation is this?!
Then we have the villain. Clearly they're trying to make the most crazy villain ever here. Perhaps they succeeded, but for me they've gone a bit overboard with it. The effort of making him crazy just for the sake of craziness just made him seem waaay too artificial for my liking.
Don't forget the fanservicing characters. In addition to Tessa, they've now added a pair of chinese twins. In case being lesbians ain't servicing the fans enough, they've also thrown in some incest action for good measure. The fact that they were originally male in the source material speaks for itself, really.
I was prepared to give it a higher rating towards end actually, as I was quite enthralled by the turns of events, but the last episode was very weak. Souseke's conversation with his AS was just so... cheesey... there's just no other term for it, and that's coming from someone who hardly ever use that term. The attempt at light humour totally fell flat on its face. I did rather like the ending, but I do suspect what one reviewer said about Souseke and Chidori will most likely go back to their static relationship to be true. After all, that is the main attraction of the whole FMP franchise ;)

| This continuation of the original Full Metal Panic! solves many of the issues that I had with the original series, and addressed some problems that the first series had.
The animation is by far better than the original series. The Mecha battles are fluid and well done, the Lambda Driver fights are much better done, and the character models are still fantasticly rendered. The backgrounds are also very detailed and realistic, especially in the Hong Kong scenes.
The soundtrack is fairly good, but not great, same with the opening and ending songs.
The storyline is where the series most improves over its predeccesor. Focusing mainly on the exploration of Chidori's and Sosuke's relationship, specifically with Sosuke's character, this story is very fulfilling and riveting. The villians are also much more complex in this series, especially with the addition of the two sister villians. This story is rife with conflict which makes the story more interesting.
However, just as in the first series, Second Raid leaves us hanging and, while Sosuke's and Chidori's relationships and characters are given closure, the villians are ultimately not destroyed and we never find out what, exactly, the villians are after, why they are fighting Mithril, who the leaders are, and how they were able to acquire the technology.
FMP: Second Raid focuses, as I have stated, mainly on Sosuke and Chidori, with Tessa and the villians being the main side characters (Mao and Kuze don't feature prominatly in this series). Sosuke is given much more depth, and the inner conflict within him between what he wants to do and what he is ordered to do, after being a soldier his whole life, is extremely interesting. It is very amazing to see his character develop as he explores his psyche and his relationship with Chidori. Chidori herself is also given more depth, besides being an obnoxious high schooler with no regard for Sosuke's feelings, she has begun to grow and develop as well, and aids Sosuke in his transition and growth.
As for the villians, I think the "mad villian" is a bit stereotypical, but I did enjoy the villian sisters and the mysterious "mastermind". However, the sisters were left unexplored; their motivations, backgrounds, and characters were never really fleshed out: I wish I knew more about them.
This anime is for Full Metal Panic fans: if you liked the original, watch this series for more closure and continuation of the first, though even this one isn't completely finished and seems headed for another sequel.

| Something is really cracked about this FMP:TSR. Maybe it's because of my expectations, but I really am disappointed by this product. First things first: this isn't REALLY a 2nd series, but more like a fistful of episodes which picks the storyline up from where it had been left at the end of the first series, and carries it on until its proper end. So, this 2nd Raid actually belongs to the 1st installment.
That alone wouldn't really matter, if this could keep on par with the quality the 1st series got us used to. But unfortunately, everything seems to have been diluted and washed down, and this doesn't 'feel' like FMP anymore. Fumoffu! is much more FMP than this.
Fans of the series won't need any explanation about the settings and such, and newcomers should go watch older episodes first, so I'm not going to spoil here and now what they should find out themselves. Generally speaking, and to make a long story short, this is (supposed to be) a mecha action anime with a humorous twist. But alas!, whereas the first series greatly excels at that, this 2nd coming doesn't get anywhere near.

| This series is anime nirvana. In fact it could quite possibly be the best anime production I have ever seen. While the first season started out good it dropped in performance over the second half in my opinion but it was still good. The second season (FMP! Fumoffu?) focused on the humor of the school life Sousuke is living and is damn funny at that I might add. It was a definite improvement on the first season. FMP! The Second Raid has the humor of the second season but focuses more heavily on the story while at the same time taking a more mature approach to telling said story. In addition to the 13 main episodes there is an OVA episode that takes place after the main story arch and follows the humorous events in a day of Captain Tessa Testarossa. While it is not for everyone (due to both age and taste) I cannot recommend this series enough.
Another advantage this series has over others is you need not have watched the other seasons’ episodes in order to understand it. Of course if you have it will be all the better, but other then a few references to things that happened in the other seasons this season sands alone for most intents and purposes. For people like me who wish to know every detail you can try to get a hold of a fan-sub of the series which no doubt will have explanations as to past events if you’d rather not watch all the other seasons, of course I suggest that you do.
I only have two complaints: One being the series wasn’t longer which makes this more of a compliment then a complaint and the second being a detail about the story that could be considered a spoiler so I will not elaborate on it further. If you ever get a chance to watch this series do yourself a favor and do so.

| I hear a lot of talk about how TSR is sooo much better than the first two series, but I can't really agree to that. I thought all THREE series were superb! And after watching TSR, you can definitely expect a fourth installment of this already great series! You should probably watch at least the first series before watching TSR or you'll get lost in some of the details.

| The Second Raid is an excellent anime that is much, much better than the first installment of the series. Full Metal Panic! was an enjoyable anime by Gonzo but it had some major flaws – the storyline was not that good, it was too predictable and cliché. Then Kyoto Animation got a hold of the series. They created the outstanding comedy Fumoffu, although it did not have much to do with the original series, and TSR, which is a direct continuation of the original story. TSR is better than the original in all aspects – the animation, characters, conflicts, etc. are done exceptionally well.

| Imagine that you're a high school student torn between the throes of living a normal life and being drafted into precarious military missions. It's no strange situation for Sagara Sousuke, as he's used to acting as a bodyguard for Kaname Chidori, serving in missions for the military group Mithril, but his hardest tasks come with keeping up with classes and passing exams in between missions. Of course, considering Sousuke knows more about being a military personnel than a normal high school student...it provides some very comedic moments for senarios that normal students would never engage, LOL :)
This particular arc in the popular Full Metal Panic series deals with Souske battling against an unknown military fraction equal in strength to Mithril, acting in rebellious, violent senarios in Hong Kong as well as a number of other locations. Not to mention taking a serious tone in terms of Sousuke's ability to protect Chidori in the the senarios that unfold. While this series seems somewhat entertaining in premise and in the moment senario...the plot/character constructions and inconsistencies in this series were rather perturbing. Not to mention that the main villain is downright terrible...not in terms of being intimidating, but ludicrous.
Animation and Sound are, like the former arc in the series, excellent and fitting to the series as a whole. But I couldn't get past the mediocre plot and side characters to like this series as much. Overall, worth the time if you're a Full Metal Panic fan, but if you're just coming into the series, the first two series would serve as a better introduction.

| Full Metal Panic The Second Raid is a 13 episode sequel to Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. Although its genre is very much unlike Fumoffu, its quality undoubtly matches that, and sometimes even betters it.
The animation in the Second Raid is flawless. Although there were occasional slight lip synching errors, the computer generated scenes and other animations were very good, in fact, they were some of the best I have seen so far.
Although the theme songs were as good as Fumoffu, the actual music played during the anime still felt lacking and unnoticable. However, the reasons for being unnoticable has changed as this anime is a completely different genre from Fumoffu.
The genre of the Second Raid shifts away from the very successful Fumoffu back to the Action Mecha genre in Full Metal Panic, and it does that brilliantly. The storyline is gripping and extremely exciting to watch, and even though there are some illogical moments, they are barely noticable unless you pay an extreme amount of attention to the details of the storyline.
The light humour, although scarce, only adds to the quality of the storyline.
The cast of characters in the Second Raid has barely changed from the original Full Metal Panic, and the newly introduced characters lack development. However, their personalities still make them extremely fun to watch and definitely does not take away from the enjoyment of this anime.
The anime consists of 13 24 minute long episodes, which is, once again, not sufficient. Although there is an OAV coming out, there isn't much hype regarding that as it seems to be a sort of 'filler episode' to the Second Raid.
Still, a gripping storyline, wonderful cast and top notch animation makes Full Metal Panic The Second Raid very enjoyable to watch for nearly anyone. But it is especially satisfying for Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic Fumoffu fans.

| Ah FMP, my fave of the very few mecha series that i like, with a superb first series, and a just above average comedy series, what could second raid do to help the whole series?
Well, apparently, they added new characters and complicated the plot a bit more so it doesn't make 'that' much sense, but included some eye-candy animation with superb action sequences. The things that strikes you with FMP:TSR is that the amount of action on-screen has gone up by 2 folds, a much more consistent pace of the show is present even if it died down slightly towards the end and importantly, the deveopment of the characters have gone up slightly.
All well and good, in fact, the first half of this series would probably be highlight of this show considering how fast-paced and heavy atmosphere-like it goes. Unfortunately, as mentioned, the second half died down, the tension pretty much came to a stand still, the 'unlikely' antagonist is back ,the action scenes almost came to a stop.
In all honesty, the second half dragged on as it went a bit too angsty for my liking, though its suppose to represent Sousuke's feelings and such, i felt it wa s abit OTT and in some parts un-needed.
Fact is, the new characters introduced make this kind of worth-while, the chinese twins would be legends if they stayed on-screen longer, the crazy scientist dude was a bit too chaotic and Tessa's brother/relative needed more screentime. These characters make the show watchable as they give a sense of progress through this just-bareable story.
Overall, TSR is a welcome part of this whole series, lots of new characters, more action and enjoyable relationships all round. Shame that the story isn't solid enough considereing it had only 13/14 episodes to do it.
8/10
