I saw all of 51 episodes. The time passed so quick while I watched this series. I remember I saw 10 episodes through night. This anime is underrated. It is the one of the best anime I have seen. And beleive be, I have seen many anime and I know couple of the best, but this is among them. It should be ranked among the best.

Great Anime. A must watch. Full of fun.A great idea for the anime's main storyline and what its trying to say.
Ueki's character and the story just rocked.
Although the idea gets a bit repetitive but it always ends with a new and interesenting twist...
My ranking for the anime would be 4 out of 68 animes i have watched. (Topped by FMA)

It's not hard to see why Ueki no Hosoku is getting good ratings. OK animation, good music, likeable characters, lots of humour, a good backstory, very interesting (and often funny) combat scenes, cool villains and the WOW factor (particularly after the first 10 eps or so) are all present, making for a highly enjoyable shounen anime.
If you like series like Naruto and Bleach and don't mind a series having a bit of a rough start, you're missing out if you haven't seen Ueki.

If you are a naruto fan, this is like a much better version of naruto. It is simply very engaging for the action sequence and the story and strategy used by ueki and his comrades. I loved this anime so much I may be biased.

Me being the shounen freak I am, I've been running out of shounen to watch lately, and I was given the choice between Law of Ueki and Gash Bell. Despite being a shounen freak, for some reason, I haven't watched Gash Bell, and to this day--at least at the time I've written this review--I still haven't watched it, because the anime series I decided to watch was Law of Ueki.

Why would I choose this rather unknown title over a popular one that got more recommendations than any other of the available shounen title when I asked what shounen I should watch next at a random anime message board? Well, for the fact that Ueki, the main character, is able to change trash into trees. To me, that was a lot more interesting than controlling a little doll with blonde hair. After what the first episode presented me, I was wondering if the mangaka used this as a marketing tool to make other people like me, buy the Law of Ueki manga over the Gash Bell manga, because it presented an even more interesting and unique concept.

Believing this anime, much like how Ueki believes in his friends, was what rewarded both me and him. Many others like Ueki, are able to change one element or object, into a contradicting one, such as towels into steel, water into fire, etc. It still sounds pretty basic, and it remains pretty basic for the first twelve episodes, but things get much deeper later on when the story starts getting juicier. While Ueki making it his goal to defeat the villain within the show, Robert Hadyn, doesn't seem anything more ordinary than what the first twelve episodes contain, the battle outside of Robert and Ueki starts developing, and all of a sudden, the story starts changing and shifting, and what's left on your plate is what makes everyone who have seen this anime, refer it as the most underrated anime ever.

Though revealing content beyond that would kind of be spoiling it. Honestly, while the first twelve episodes were quite mediocre, I found them excellent for the comedy alone. Ueki isn't your normal klutz shounen main character that are Naruto and Luffy. While he does seem pretty empty minded, he's funny, and while Naruto and Luffy are also funny, what makes Ueki is the type of comedy he presents, which is thanks in help with the zai. There's this tournament going on in The Law of Ueki, and everyone who's been selected are given the powers like mentioned before. The condition is that you can't attack a non power user, or you'll lose your zai one by one, or more preferably, talents. These talents are basically, talents, like studying, running, doing black flips, etc. If you lose all your talents, you'll disappear. The earlier episodes do a wonderful job of combining comedy with these zai, which for me, makes Law of Ueki the funniest shounen I have ever seen.

However, as the story starts getting more serious, the comedy is sort of sacrificed in return. This is a good thing, but for me, the comedy was just absolutely hilarious, and while Law of Ueki got tremendously better overall, the jump to mediocre to greatness wasn't that big to me as it has been to others. However, it still made a huge jump thanks to the daily servings of some of the greatest, most strategic battles in shounen history. It almost seems like in every episode after 17, there's a long, yet strategic battle going on that is consistently dropping your jaw out of pure amazement. Ueki, along with his crew, use absolutely everything in their surroundings to win. Whether it's because they predicted the person into doing something, cracks on the floors, science, physics, math, whatever, all of these factors are strung together to make brilliant battle plans even deeper than what Shikamaru presented in his fight with Temari in Naruto.

Fans of the Shikamaru and Temari fight will definitely be pleased with what Law of Ueki has to offer, because it almost seems like fights even better than that occur every episode. So was the sacrifice of the comedy more than worth being fed with such awesome battles? Of course! Though it's kind of sad both couldn't have happened. The comedy however, still retains some of its presence thanks to the somewhat unusual characters and rather ironic situations. Though often times, they act more as comic relief than anything, and are blown out completely out of the water when being compared to the hilarity of the first couple episodes.

While I do got to thank the characters for being hilarious and smart, like most shounen characters, they're kind of corny. I'm on the verge of giving up on shounens, because these one speech wonders are making me sick. Well, shounens are becoming aimed at towards naive little kids, but honestly, how naive can you get to have someone else much older than you, drill common sense through your head? Almost every battle, speeches are exchanged between Ueki and his enemy, and you can't help but think these battles would be so much better if it weren't for all this unncessary talking. Though there are a couple moments when Law of Ueki are impressive philosophically and psychologically, specifically 4/5's through the thing.

So, was my decision to choose Law of Ueki over Gash Bell just? I haven't seen the latter, but there's no doubt in my mind, my choice was right even if Gash Bell turns out to be a superior anime, because in the end, no matter how I look at it, Law of Ueki is an anime that I would rank up there in the best shounen tier list that includes Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc. The keyword in this anime is enduring and believing that it'll turn out great later on. While Ueki's philosophy of believing turned out to be a weakness in the show that ended up dragging it, his other aspects of him, such as his funny personality, along with his brilliant strategic planning, are by far, some of the best when compared to other shounen protagonists, which makes Law of Ueki, one of the best there is.

animation - decent for a 2005-- not great-- but decent-- hahaha I gave it a 9! XP

sound - oh hell, i downloaded the OST before watching this series at all-- i was SO into the OST-- i just wanted to get the full versions of the OP and ED and then getting the series afterwards-- i LOVE THE ED!! *u*!!!!!!!!! ~__~

story - at first, a couple of fillers but not just any normal and stupid fillers but rather fillers to make the viewers to understand slowly about the rules and stuff about being a god canditate *sp* (you don't want an episode which explains so quickly and roughly that it'll just get you more confused than ever) the story goes very quickly, as from 1-4 of the introduction of ueki's powers, then 5-6 the first battle of robert hayden with ueki (it developed even further... 7-15 of battling and new stuffz happening with the god competition-- 16-22 ... the big 10 and battle in hell-- 23-28 more of big 10, a stupid game show, and final boss of big 10 and robert hayden and 30 the third round of the god competition, team of fives, stuff XD ---

okay, im just trying to summarize it badly as I can-- it's really late now.. so.. im tired and i am not trying to make this look pro-- lolol

reeally, this anime is HIARLIOUS, clever, cute, funny, and-- has little similarities to fullmetal alchemist-- it reminds me of it-- that's about it ^__^;

story is so interesting-- middle schoolers with strange powers-- and whoever wins the god battle will become god-- and stuff-- and earn this.. 'blank' zai/ability meaning you can use this blank zai to be ANY type of ability you want-- like for instance, Village Raising, Erasing the World, Making the world into a cake, stuff stuff.. weird.. yes.. the ideas are stupid and weird because they are by middle schoolers who are naive and young and dun know much about what they really want-- XD

character - ueki has the same voice actor as FMA, which is great-- I like his voice ^__^; and the seiyuu is so damn pretty XD

ueki is a strong figure with lots of tolerance with people and things and is very clever although at first, he seems retarded at most points. He looks as if he's absent-minded-- and clueless... XD ... Ever since his studying zai disappeared-- he had it hard to understand and learning quickly-- o_O;; poor ueki... i wish he can get it back again, but then again, it would make the show really boring-- if he'd be all-so-super-smart DX

mori is an annoying girl who's useless but supportive XD
she's kind and caring-- and i think she's developing a crush on ueki-- because at first, she cares so much about him (although they dun show tha she is.. but indirectly they are) and she doesn't want to leave by his side (clearly because she explains that if she does, ueki will do something stupid and lose all of his zai and die) lol--

the other two main chars-- (not naming their names, because it'll be a spoiler)

the girl - looks like kazuki (from getbackers) and if she was only a guy-- i would totally go like-- "OMGOMGOMGOMGOGM HE"S SO HAWT" unfortunately, it's a she-- and i was really disappointed- --- damnnnnn she doesn't really look like a girl tho... but later on-- she will-- with short hair.. that is.. i dunno lol

the obsen guy - lolol-- i think he was in a fire accident because his face has a burnt scarring on it-- (which u dun see on animes a lot, as they usually make people pretty and almost like perfect (ie body, face, clothes..) XD)

value - i'll give it 10, what the heck, i don't know what this really means-- but I'll give it anyway

enjoyment - it's hilarious, a good pace, good story, good sound, good animation, good characters-- yes i enjoyed it hell alotz-- im friggin addicted to it!!! GRRR I WANT MORE EPISODES ....

Well... this is your typical good guy fights the bad guys anime. Ueki is a boy with a very strong sense of justice. The entire anime revolves around this. He is entered into a competition where a hundred other fighters fight for a blank talent.. which is anything they wish for. Most battles are fairly similar... Ueki gets beaten really bad at first, but continues to get up and take the beating. Then, he finds a weakness and beats the enemy in pretty much 1 big blow. If he loses he is automatically out of the competition and loses his special power. The plot takes some unexpected turns here and there, but other than that, pretty predictable the whole way through.

The animation is average. Very simple and I cant say that its very appealing. Nothing special about the character designs.

The characters can get a little annoying; especially Mori. Her constant bickering and yelling gets to you after abit. Her voice doesnt help too much either, but i guess it emphasizes her perserverance as well as annoyingness. Ueki is dumb.. but you can't help but root for him throughout the series. His never give up attitude and stupidity seem to be his only charming points. The other characters around him don't play that big of a role and pretty much no character development is found in these characters.

A little disappointed since it seemed to have potential to be a great anime, but just ended up falling into the monotony of other fighting animes.

First, I'll make the point that this anime doesn't copy or remotely reflect (in my honest opinion) the story of other anime. I've heard that it's just like Gashbell, or too Pokemon-ish, or just like Full Metal Alchemist. It's not.

This show is one of the few anime that I actually enjoy watching. Most of the anime I've seen have this depressing, angsty feeling in them, but The Law of Ueki is different. It's a fun show with hilarious characters, and a really interesting storyline, and a Ueki. Ueki is just awesome and he, along with most of the other characters in the series, bring me laughter. How could it copy another series. The boy makes trash into trees for goodness sakes, and I don't see any other anime with a character who does that and with this similar storyline.

The Law of Ueki is just an enjoyment to watch. Sure, the animation isn't that good, but it gives me a good, original feel. I just love the opening, "Falco." Cannot get enought of it or the anime. I definetly recommend it to everyone who isn't extremely picky on which shows they watch. Ueki is just meant to be fun : )

Please, I need to make myself clear.

Law of Ueki is NOT Fullmetal Alchemist. Besides, Law of Ueki came first, so if anything, Fullmetal Alchemist is Law of Ueki BUT! They're vastly different in overall feel of the show.

Although you have the generic fight-preach format, Ueki is highly enjoyable. Actually, it kind of has a One Piece/Shaman King feel to it, with better dubs, better music, and better plot pacing.

This is a nice uncomplicated anime so far. The powers are interesting, it's neat to see how they work with these weird powers. There doesn't appear to be too deep of a plot. Just seems to be a typical fight anime, with a bunch of one on one fights to determine who will get the ultimate power. Ueki is a cool hero, the jokes are mostly amusing, the fight scenes are getting better and more interesting as the series progresses. This series started a bit slow but is getting better.

This is stupid, but at the same time very interesting and fun to watch. Try it out, if it doesn't compel to you by the first episodes, drop the idea of continuing. It does become better, but not much. It's pretty much the same. I still like it. Powers are stupid, but that stupidity is what's so original.

I just read the other peoples reviews. What the hell? The animation isn't subpar. Well, compared to some monsters (Samurai Champloo for example) this doesn't even come close, but if you feel like finding out what subpar animation means, go watch Mahou Sensei Negima - THAT is subpar animation. The Ueki no Housoku animation team has done a fairly good job. It's nothing special, but it isn't horrible either (unlike Negima).

A very strange anime about a boy who has the power to transform garbage into trees.

Apparently Ueki is the chosen representative for a 'god game'.

Ok this is a bit complicated. Apparently there are over 100 god candidates. They each picked a single kid and gave them a special power.

Then the boys compete in an elimination tournament. The winning boy gets a "Blank Talent". So they can pick anything as a prize from the ability to run faster than anyone or the ability to control minds. And the god candidate of the winning boy becomes the new god.

Or apparently that's the deal.

Oh for some strange reason there is this girl that really tries her best to help out Ueki. She finds out that if he loses all his talents he will die. That is if you harm someone who is not involved in the tournament you lose a talent, whether it be athleticism, the ability to attract girls, or the ability to study.

The rules are whacky but it is an interesting anime to watch. Ueki keeps loses talents becuase he 'deals out his brand of justice' to certain people. You'll have to watch this to understand.

Sometimes I find this anime incredibly stupid like the 'power to transform cotton to stakes' or the 'power to turn a wash cloth to steel but only if you hold your breath'. I mean what the heck right?

At the same time it is quite funny so I guess it's worth watching. Just don't expect anything serious or profound.

I wasn't expecting much from this anime since it was about a guy that can turn trash into trees, but its actually really good. The characters are really cool and funny. This anime is really fun to watch. The story is good, if you like animes with
funny and interesting characters, and a story about a tournament, you might like this. I reccommend this to anyone who likes action/comedy/super powers... and who arent very picky about animation
