He Is My Master is what it is. As the title implies, there is fanservice. While I personally think fanservice leads to the detrioration of plot and think its the evil of all anime, that is merely my opinion. This anme though is an example of an anime which lives off fanservice using frilly maid outfits and sexual appeal to drag in an audience.

I know a few people who are intrigued with the art, but do not be deceived by the eyecandy; the animation is quite average.

While some ecchi anime that loads up the fanservice has a plot, He Is My Master does not really offer one (a logical one at least). Each episode is quite uneventful and there is really no real plot. Some of the characters reactions are not quite justified and the anime is more of a "filler" than anything else.

Even if you like fanservice, this is not an anime to turn to. There are plenty of animes that have fanservice and possess a plot (which already is superior to the lack of plot in He Is My Master).

The bottom line is He Is My Master is another anime made solely for fanservice and fails because of it. While there are not many anime that possess "fanservice" these days that have a good plot, Love Hina is a decent alternative and Chobits was 'okay'. The fact is "fanservice" from good anime do not even manifest as fanservice, but are merely a part of the plot.

Arr! What a waste of time! When the highlights of an anime are the opening theme and the fan service, someone has not been doing their job.

He is My Master is your typical fan service anime for all the male fans out there. Lots of fan service and maid fetish, what else do you need?

The animation is pretty high quality, with a cutesy art style that fits really well for the series.

Sound is also well done, with Asano Masumi did an excellent job for Izumi. Also, Masami Okui's opening is superb like all of her work.

The story is above average, while typical for its genre, with episodic content, each episode is quite hilarious with the crazy antics, and the last few episodes, which is the main story arc is actually quite well done, with funny part as well as a pretty surprising but funny ending.

There's not much to expect for the characters, but Yoshitaka in the last story arc actually make him an interesting character. What you think of him will be surprising but reasonable at the same time.

This is a good anime if you like fan service, had a bit of a maid fetish, and got a weekend with nothing to do to pass the time.

It's kind of hard to review an anime that's suppose to be a mediocre pile of crap when I enjoyed it so much. Now don't get me wrong - I quite like all types of anime whether they're shounen, drama, philosophical, and whatever works, but we all have a guilty pleasure that must be fulfilled sometimes, especially after a long drought. Whether GAINAX did this, or females won't watch this, or people hate it for all the reasons, "He Is My Master" (I have hard times whenever I try to type that out, yes) is the type of mindless fanfest anyone needs.

I'll start with pointing out the obvious. Only otakus, lewd men, harem-maniacs, and fetishees will take pleasure in this. Nobody in the right mind outside of these and related groups of people can be bothered to find out more after reading the synopsis. Are you past this sentence yet? Okay good, you are now in my category. Before you watch the first episode, I suggest turning your brains into the OFF mode and turn that sympathizer into the OFF mode, too - you will not need it. Just a reminder: you're watching middle-school girls in maid uniforms serving a lewd rich pervert. You're in!

Some more obvious things: reasons why this should be a steaming pile of crap. The setting is quite ludicris, isn't it? 78% of this is unoriginal even when being over-the-top - we've seen the same thing a hundred times before. The episodes get quite repetitive for their own good, too, when every episode is always about how Izumi gets victimized by everyone. Now, I'm not sure about the jokes, because I actually laughed at 85% of them - nonetheless they've also been done a hundred times before. And GAINAX is in this paragraph, for those who want every reviewer to mention what a job they did.

And now for why I put Enjoyment at a 9: because I can! Well, aside from knowing this deserves such low rating, I couldn't help but enjoy it all the way through. Crude jokes are over-the-top, the fanservice was saturated, and I absolutely loved the characters, especially the pervert Yoshitaka, whom I can't help but admire his lavish pursuit of such pleasures. (Actually, when I first LOOKED at a promotional poster of this anime way back in 2005, I thought the main guy would be pretty wimpy like Keitaro of Love Hina. Oh how wrong I was.) For those looking for a good development between them... that's a -1, sadly. They went for ending choice number 1 instead of 2, but it's not like it will go in any other direction. And yes, I wanted more episodes.

In all, I recommend this to those who had a long drought of good crappy harem-comedies to obtain maximum enjoyment.

Definitely rated as an ecchi of an anime, He is My Master (HiMM) can prove to be really hilarious for its viewers (for the male clan, though) and quite offensive to the females.

Here's the common factor in each episode from Episode 1-10: Yoshitaka perverting Izumi; Izumi showing her upper in bathroom scenes; lesbian attempts of Anna to Izumi; Pocchi, an alligator, trying to rape(exaggerated term, though) Izumi; Yoshitaka bossing Izumi around; Mitsuki creating contests (she's one smart girl). There are still others, plenty to be exact. Specifically stating, ECCHI!

Although the animation of the series is pretty respectable ('respectable' is used instead of 'handsome'), there are some parts in which the drawing of the characters seem rather silly. And yes, there may be a story involved regarding Izumi and Mitsuki working for Yoshitaka but it does not really have a development. It just uses the same plot every episode (Yoshitaka being a pervert for Izumi) which makes it quite disappointing. The story makes it climactic rise upon reaching the eleventh episode where Izumi decides to be a 'maid idol' (huh?) and leaves Yoshitaka (making him sad). The story just ended up with Yoshitaka's cousin confirming that he and Izumi are experiencing love. But... the two never admitted it which makes it quite a letdown - making you wonder what happens next.

But despite all these unwanted flaws, HiMM provides its viewers a good anime. Every episode can make one laugh (uhh...for boys, i suppose?). Nice color, animation, and sound.

DEFINITELY NOT for people who are sexist in nature.

This is very funny in my opinion. This is an anime series that won't be enjoyed by most likely females for obvious reasons. When I was watching this it seemed that I had the same personality as Yoshitaka. I would do the stuff that he does to thase maids with no regret, and we're both perverts.

Animation - It seemed a little sketchy in some parts like when the characters are from a distance. But during the ecchi parts and during the humerous action graphics are very well done. The colors were very good not very bland. The designs were fairly simple.

Sound - The sound is nothing outstanding but also not bad just average. I mean the they fit the characters but the voices are uhh well seem to be the same in other related comedy/ecchi's. The opening was pretty cool. The ending was average.

Story - Well the story is about Yoshitaka who has a huge mansion and hires 2 middle school girls that happen to run away. In every episode they have a lot of humor and their adventure is a little contest etc etc. The story isn't very original there has been other stories with maids and a teenage dude.

Charaters - Characters are funny. This isn't an anime where most people can relate to a character or share personality traits, but it seems I did. A lot of the characters just help in the comedy. There is an annoying characters in the series which is Mitsuki who always seems to like to start trouble by making almost every awkward stuation into a contest between Yoshitaka and Izumi.

Value - I will one day buy the series because I like it. It's pretty easy to rewatch because there is somuch humor that your always entertained.

I do not recommend this series to anyone who finds sexist against woman wrong especially comedy.

10 episodes of pure repetition. After seeing the second ep, the same plot is used throughout the rest of the episode till the end. Other episodes which did not have this cliche, had some story which shows how badt his really is.
Animation was ok, but crooked at times. The main animation is not the background, but its really int the character design where the characters are meant to bring the most ecchiness. And all types of girls for every ecchi lover is here. The suit too is ecchi minded. Clearly the only story here is ecchi, and nothing else.
Characters have character, but then due to the ecchiness storyline, little character development actually happend. Its only that the tons of ways ecchiness could be done. This is no mahoromatic with a good story line. This is mahoromatic-ecchi only.
I am not sure why you would keep this as its really not good at all.

Advertised as a fun-filled bright ecchi romance comedy, this anime contains depressing, disgusting, and sexist view of women - only displaying them as masochistic people. Even the viewers were not to notice this disgusting sexism, which I think borders close on Hentai material, this still is a horrible anime for what it is. Now let's get into why I think so.

I will say flat out - Yoshitaka is disgusting. I'm guessing his psychotic obsession of subduing women in any way possible is funny. Well it's not. throughout the anime, I truly hated Yoshitaka everytime he appeared on screen. His obssessive behaviors are disturbing rather than delightful. For example, him setting up cameras al over to take pictures of underage girls are a crime, which in this has advertised as funny.

Mitsuki was a self little brat who in order to have her own fun wouldn't bother destroying her own sisters life OR she must have been strongly convinced that her sister being a slave and getting raped by an alligator (like reviewer below have mentioned) is the best way for her to live. She is just not entirely believable nor likable. She is selfish to a point to disturbing. Match thing she does also get old very quickly as the anime itself takes a nose dive after the first episode.

Pochi was probably the funnier one of all the characters, but was also probably the most disturbing in way he is used. Pochi apparently have a thing for human women. I mean everything is possible in anime. aliens, half man hlaf tiger... I don't care. But when what Pochi does ON SCREEN start toresemble one of those porn site with animals doing it with women, it absolutely does not belong on TV screen. I mean why the hell is an alligator trying to rape a girl on every freaking episode? It is NOT FUNNY. well let's say someone do find it amusing, afterall I do not speak for the world, but if they use it on almost every episode, IT GETS OLD!!! (reviewer below got it right)

now to Izumi. Animes don't have to fit societies standard of morality. that's why they have hentai. Izumi belongs in hentai. In all the embarassment and degrading, the fact that she in fact wishes it really gets me disgusted. Now you can say that i'm bringing in my persoanl and I am. I mean I watch few of those hentai things that have storyline similar to this. I'm sorry, but the concepts and contents of this anime strictly belong outside of non-hentai anime (or may be this should just be graded R for nudity and disturbing messages). Behind all the comedy she puts up is sick sexist view of masochists. Stay away from it.

Now to story. Story really don't have much substance. One reason is because tere isn't much story. Izumi and mitsuki runs away form home, she owes lotta money to Yoshikawa, and she works as a sexy maid/yoshitaka's toy, and things happen. All the serious events, comedy, drama will fall flat as Izumi's rocket punchs get lamer by the seconds. At the end I thought this anime turned itself for the better perhap... I was wrong. The conclusion made the anime all the more disturbing. this anime's story, in summary, is consisted of disturbing messages, nudity, and fillers.

Well This animedo have nice animation and decent music to compliment, which in itself sounds wrong, the mood. But like I always say, animation and music can only be effective when the content is good. When anime is this bad, animation nor music can save it.

Let me list the flaws: 1. disgusting theme, 2.too much fillers, 3. repetitive jokes, 4. flawed characters, 5. hentai material that do not belong in this anime (animal sex for example and lot more)

I'll say one thing. Stay away form this anime.

Usually im pretty leniant when it comes to reviews, but im going to have to say this is the worst anime I have EVER watched. Think of "He is my master" as an H-anime with the H. Utterly worthless.

Initially it looked to be a generic harem/ecchi type so I really wasnt expecting much in terms of story or character development. Having said that I will tell you this anime has NO story whatsoever, true it did have potential if executed in an even somewhat serious manner, but it didnt so no use in saying "what if". The animation isnt anything special, not the best, not the worst, just bleh. Character development follows suit with the story, little to nil, in the end you will see the characters just as hollow if not moreso than you did in the beggining. Apparently this anime also had comedy in it, im not an overly serious guy and its fairly easy to make me laugh but this show failed horribly. I guess if you found watching an alligator attempt to "rape" 13/14 year old girls funny then this would be the anime for you. Ive seen alot of animals in anime but this one was just straight up wierd. In closure I wish I had the 3 hours of my life it took to watch the series back and I strongly reccomend you take a look at some of the other 2005 titles before putting yourself through the pain that is "He is my master".

As one watches more and more anime, one comes to see certain characteristics of some studios. As such it is the case with the, I assume, very well known studio that bears the name of Gainax: one either loves the anime the studio makes or it hates it.

As such it is the case of He is my master, a maid anime that one either grows to appreciate or to despise for its blatant use of sexuality, puke-inducing harem elements and a lot of hit-or-miss jokes.
Although this is miles away from my general anime preferences, I couldn't help but fall for everything that it had to offer. The series is not though provoking, it's not deep in any aspect, it's abusive of certain echi elements (maid uniforms, omni-present bath scenes, cosplay), it doesn't boast with a cast of complex characters or a decent story-line...but, it's simply enjoyable as a light-hearted series and I'm not intent on treating it otherwise.

Some guy's excuse to engorge himself in all sorts of fantasies - maids, school outfits, nursing, the stereotypical "I hate you so much from the outstart", and the mindless counterpart.

A horny alligator who "rapes" young girls... and 14 year old girls with D-cups and super curves. Super horny rich boys. Can you guess what else is going to happen?

A whole bunch of crazy antics, misses at mistakes, and "emotional" predictable scenes. Even lesbian scenes. Parents who are horny for their kids....

I hate this because these people are 13 and 14 years old. What's with the perverted sister obsessed with games. Are they even related. Jeez. How shallow, but what else can you expect from an ultra harem anime where the only good part is the coloring.

The only enjoyable parts of this anime was the occasional total randomness at how super childish this is. In the end, its a childish anime with very young characters with lots of perverted undertones that aren't shown. (It is just a transparent wet white shirt away from a hentai).
However, if you are totally desensitized to such pervertedness that happens often, I'm very sure that you will enjoy this. If you like these dummy personalities in girls and are a fan of these fetishes, this is a great collage of various humorous aspects.

This show is painless, only because it knows its place. It is blatant harem, which doesn’t take itself or anything else all that seriously for any period of time. It is also quite short (12 episodes) so despite the fact the show is pretty formulaic, with no real story to drive it, it doesn’t wear too thin.

He is My Master is a light-hearted seris, and usually I'm one for more of the dramatical series, but I chose something a bit different to watch and since it was made by Gainax, I thought this was going to have some development with all of the characters like it did with His or Her Circumstances, but I thought wrong.

Let me start by saying that I really liked the animation. I love the effect of going through normal style into straight chibbiness. I find that rather cute, and that indicates some humorous scene. On some of the outfits, and of course on the maid uniforms they were rather detailed and Yoshitaka for middle school student, does a job well done in the Home Economics department, heh.

The sound aspect of the series was above average, but I felt like the same things were being repeated over again, but nonetheless I liked all the voice seiyuus and the theme song was alright but, I prefer the ending song.

The story, or rather lack of it, kinda killed it for me. Obviously this is a comedy series, and I understand that, but if you have the same redundant things happening every single time in each and every episode, it gets rather tedious and therefore, it loses that originality factor, so the story really doesn't do it for me, but I will give points for having the alligator (Pochi) in there, you'll just have to see for yourself.

The characters were tolerable actually. Poor Izumi everyone keeps picking on her, literally. Funny thing is, I agree with some other people that she isn't the prettiest character that should really deserve all this attention but I see why she does get it. Mitsuki even though she is the younger sister, she has that maturity that surpasses her own sister at times. Anna well she kinda looks like me really, and I liked her first, but I find her annoying at times. Yoshitaka is Yoshitaka I can't think of anything else to say about him. He is rather devious in his plans and make sure he wants to get his way done the right way and his way at that. Pochi provides comedy, but there are disturbances throughout the series that you will have to see.

I probably would watch this series again, but probably not until some time has passed. I usually like to see a few episodes of a series and for some reason, watching a few eps of He is My Master loses its feel of drawing you into the series. Like Poom has mentioned, I'd probably watch one episode a week rather than watching it continuously, I will know better nextime.

Well this series is not the best, nor is it that bad. I had fun watching this series. I would recommend this series to people who'd like a good laugh and of course there is plenty of fan-service, which is why it's an Ecchi series as well. Have fun!

I'm your MASTER! BOW TO ME NOW!

Comedies is all HiMM got. Izumi doesn't looks sexy or cute in my opinion. Mitzuki and Anna are cute but their character are twist and like to mess up Mitzuki life. I can not accept their personalities which is why I don't like this series.

Sure you laugh at their funny ecchi jokes but funny is you gonna get from this seris. No good touching story, a little to none character development, and most of all.. they joking way way too much. Every ep. you would get this crazyness all the time, Yoshitaka keep teasing Izumi, Mitsuki always plan something weird stuff, and Anna well her role is only there to make the series looks more yuri.

Maybe if you watch each ep.1 each week then it might be fun to you, but I who marathon the whole series in 2 day(cuz it doesn't intrest me) it really didn't give any entertainment and I will surely forget this in a week. Not worth unless you really into maid cosplay.

The animation and music in HiMM are both very good, the story does seem a bit lacking, but that doesn't mean the whole shows a complete waste of time. Really you can't expect a serious in depth plot from something labeled "He is My Master."

There is a lot of repetition and you dont get to see enough of some of the more minor characters like Pochi and HiMM's representation of "God." Also the characters tend to get annoying especially Anna, Mitsuki, and Izumi (mostly Anna though.)

Aside from all the ironic jokes and slap-stick comedy I suppose the idea is to see Izumi and Yoshitaka hook up in the end. Unfortunately the whole anime seems to run on this underflow of irony which can seriously make you wonder if the two will ever get together in the end.

My suggestion: Watch this if your into girly stuff and even if your not, you might like it anyways, it wont kill you to watch the 12 epidsodes that are out.

I was kind of hoping Gainax would do something special with this show. Waste of time that was, HIMM is just another maid-show.

The basic idea sounds fun: have an freaked-out otaku have a chance to make his own maid-army. The realization isn't that fun. Jokes run around in circles: Yoshitaka does something pervertish, Izumi freaks out, Yoshitaka gets hit. Repeat for 12 episodes. This kind of pattern worked in for example Love Hina. Reason: I liked the characters. HIMM's major problem is that the characters aren't likeable. Yoshitaka impossible to like, Izumi annoying, Mitsuki even more annoying, Anna boring. Pochi is the only one I could have watched more (when he wasn't humping Izumi). Humor gets old fast when there's no feeling behind it.

I don't have to say much of the story. It's there only to make it possible to run the same jokes in different circumstances. When they try to bring some more serious elements in, it's more or less laughable. At that point the series had already established itself as a nonsense story that has very little to do with any real emotions.

On the plus side, animation is good, Izumi and Anna look good, massive amount of fanservice, some funny moments. Unfortunately they are not enough to make it interesting. DearS is miles ahead of HIMM in this genre.

Let's have a contest? Why don't we try and see who can make one of the most reptitive, boring and unappealing animes made this year? He is my Master is the winner!

Yes, He is My Master(HiMM), is a borefest, despite the glossy animation with cute and sexy character designs, the anime lacks any depth, excitement, enjoyment or value to it.

Surely, i can't remember much anime that gets so reptitive as this, each episode is pretty much a 'punch Yoshitaka' joke, or a Pochi will rape Izumi joke, or Mitsuki's contest joke. This is boring stuff with few laughs involved aside form the initial episodes, and a few gems here and there.

Granted, i never had high hoeps for this show, but i nevber expected it to bomb this bad, i love fan-service shows, but this show was reptitive, boring and was just an excuse to bring in viewers, unlike some shows like Girls Bravo whcih did a giid blend of Fan-service action and jokes, HiMM didn't, its fan service was more for eye-candy than adding any form of good jokes onto it. There's only so much pointless fan service that i can take before it gets boring.

Notice, that i mentioned nothing on story, well thats because the story was lack-lustre to be worthy of a mention. The inital build up was ok at best, but execution was bad and in the end, i didn't care about it.

Overall, Fan-service galore, but lacks comedy and any real depth to be deemed watchable, unless you really want to watch nicely designed characters.

Ecchi but not standard ecchi. That's how I would describe this. I've noticed some reviewers taking offense to some elements in this series like the fact that Yoshitaka employs a fourteen-year homeless old girl as a maid and takes advantage of her. But the entire story and cast of this series are in fact parodies of other stereotypes of anime - take the hentai-game-playing, uniform-fetishist lolicon schoolkid, whose parents died in a car crash and who's now filthy rich. Take your average super-cute thirteen year old brat with a big mouth and your typical fourteen-year old with boobs way beyond her age, et cetera...

It's very fun to watch this if you've watched other, more conventional harem anime. In fact I think they made this with mocking the genre in mind - anyhow, you don't bother watching this if you're a little uptight or easily offended by male-sexist-stereotype jokes and behaviour. If you're someone who appreciates light comedy with absolutely no deeper meaning and lots of panchira shots, this is right for you. I really enjoyed watching this.

On a more serious note, music is cute but nothing special. Liked the OP, liked the ED a little less. Artwork is average, nothing special.
