| What a shock to find Calimero on here - look at the year, 1974. I had never considered it Japanese animation if only because it was co-produced with Italia (ja, DeBaer ;-) and I think the imposed character design was more Italian or European in general than Japanese, even though you got the cute looks from TOEI.
Apparently it was shown (dubbed) in many European countries as the few reviewers attest: Italia, The Netherlands, Germany and France (where I watched it) at the very least. Plus I clearly remember watching it in color unlike shown in the featured picture.
Granted, the animation value runs pretty low on any scale, the stories are meant to entertain a very young audience and the main character might annoy you after 5 minutes of mwhining about his own fate.
Nevertheless there's a nostalgic factor that's hard to rate for those who have watched it at the time.

| Oh my god, I never knew that this attrocity was actually anime....
While the animation is decent, nothing else can be said to save this anime.
Yes, the target audience is about 5 years old...But guess what? Even 5 year olds hate this stuff. I can tell, I was about that age when Calimero aired. The biggest problem was the Dutch voice acting (but that is usually the case with Dutch voice acting, PokéMon(yes, I'm serious) being an exception), but seriously, make sure your childeren never have to go through this nightmare. This is like watching Tekken, but then at age 5. It's the same for your kids. Never let them watch this, unless you REALLY hate them.
If you really want details, learn German or babelfish-r*pe Da Baer's review. It covers just about every horrible detail of Calimero.

Kinderkacke...
