Magical Canan (I've also seen it translterated as Magical Kanan) is the tale of Chihaya, a young girl giong to school.
In an alternate world named Evergreen, there exist five crystals that can bring about doom. They attach themselves to people and turn them into monsters, causing them to reek havoc on the world. Magical critter Natsuki comes to her for help in purifying people and the world.
This anime should be classified as ecchi as there are transformation sequences that show Chihaya turning into her magical form, Carmein. (I really would have liked to have seen Cerulean Blue turn into her magical form though.)

Not the best magical girl anime ever made, but quite fun nonetheless. Some of the revelations were a bit obvious and happened just as expected. However, there was just something about this show that clicked for me.

Animation was mostly well done, except for the occasional still (but, what anime hasn't got that!) The character designs were well done, but not completely original. The main character looked sooo much like a certain Cardcaptor. And, of course, having chars communicate by thought even saves the need for animated mouths - well done!

I quite liked the sound effects in this show. Especially the magical sounds - they were gloriously cheesy! OP and ED themes were nice and bouncy and fun!

Not much char development here. They just did what you'd expect of them - but seeing as this was just a fun show, I didn't mind that.

The story was just a variation on collecting jewels/stopping megalomaniac from destroying the planet. Seems to happen a lot in Japan. Ending seemed a bit subdued though.

I would buy this if it was licensed and dubbed - so I guess I enjoyed it!

This was a decent anime, nothing new or special. The characters were boring and predictable; same with the story line. It had good animation. The op is a full 3 minutes.... if I had to watch that (rather than fast forwarding) every episode, I would have never made it through this series. About halfway through the series you are ready to get it over with. I swear these are the longest episodes. It might only be 25 minutes long, but each minute drags on FOREVER. I would recomend this to a beginer on shoujo anime.

Good Effort.

Well I watch the hentai ver. before come contact with this shoujo anime. Hentai was ok and this too is an fine shoujo anime.

The story is cliche or should I say predictable. Maybe this because I watched many shoujo anime already or maybe I was kinda dissapoint that everything they present was no surpise at all. But still even I didn't surpise, it have great stories like I would imagine how the good story suppose to be. Things went kinda slow and in a serious mood, somehow the song doesn't really much or even make the series darker when it should be touching moment. As everything come together, they explain it all the way. This is perfect if you watch it on tv, 1 ep. per week cuz they keep remind you the name of the person and stuff so there's NO WAY you could get lost.

Not bad for magical show but they should try something new or unqiue. If this one of the early shoujo you've watched, I'm sure you'll like this but if you a hard-core magical show fan, this one might bore you a little bit in the middle of story, but the ending is always cheer you up.

I don't usually review after 2 episodes either but I wanted to add something positive to the below negative!!

Admittedly there is nothing new about this anime but rather than that being a bad thing, it is a good thing! Familiar characters, familiar baddies, familiar scenario (so far anyway).

Chihaya is the Magical Girl, so far she seems very sweet and likeable, much like Card Captor Sakura. She has the typical response to finding out she has been chosen to be the hero and has a very "interesting" transformation, was reminded a little of Full Moon Wo Sagashite at this point!! The monsters she has to defeat/purify are very similar to the ones in early episodes of Sailor Moon, where a human is the target and in good old Magical Girl fashion she waves her wand and the human is saved!!
Chihaya is befriended by a cute little purple creature called Chuu (he looks like a digimon *lol*) but in reality he is something far more interesting.
From what I can tell, it looks like there will be a host of very likeable characters, goodies and baddies alike! and I can't wait to see more of this anime!

The opening and ending songs were very lively and catchy and the incidental music fitted in well.
On the whole, I found this series, so far, lives up to the title Magical Girl anime but has the advantage of being CG created and therefore backgrounds and the such are worth looking at, rather than the flat, colourless backgrounds of older series.

Magical Canan is a true Maho-shojo and if that genre isn't for you, it might be best to avoid.

Note: don't confuse this with Septerm Charm ~ Magical Canan ~ this isn't the more mature version made in 2000 ^-^;;

Personally, from what I observed from the first 2 episodes, it didn't seem all that interesting [Note: I usually don't review an anime after two episodes but I'm not sure I will continue to watch it].

To tell you the truth, I didn't even know what the series was about before I watched these episodes. I am not the type who really likes this genre of anime, so please forgive me if I am being harsh.

The animation in this series is pretty consistant. To this point, I didn't notice any scenes that were [very] noticable as poorly done.

On the other hand, the story wasn't very original [at least to the point I watched]. It lacked depth and it wasn't all that interesting. As for the sound, it wasn't so great. The same can be said about the characters. Nothing really strike me in this series as being different than any other title of this genre. This series kind of reminds me of sailormoon, which I didnt follow btw.

ATM, I cannot say anything about the value of this anime. As for the enjoyment, I'm usually the type who is hooked on the series by the first 2-3 episodes, but for this series I wasn't. I am unsure if I will continue to follow this series, but if i do I will write a more in depth review later on.

I would suggest Magical Canan to younger girls who are into magic and dresses and the like. Not too young though, as the series has some parts that may not be suitable for the very young.
