Eh? What? Raising a water imp... right. I think there hasn't been an anime of that before.

Kappa no Kaikata is a simple and a weird series. Every episode is only about 3 minutes long. It may look a serious show teaching you how to take care of your pet. But the pet in question is a kappa. A Japanese water imp. It's just completely natural to go in to a store and buy a kappa. The whole thing comes even more messed up later when some surprising facts of grown-up kappas come into the light.

This all encompassing weirdness opens up a slot for a lot of comedy. Every episode tells a new side of kappas and it's usually funny in its weirdness. At least it's fun to follow the owner's reactions to it. Sometimes it's just too weird to understand. Some of the humor has an anal quality in it. More than an average series would have. More weirdness to the mix.

It's a simple show so there's no mentionable character development. Kappas are fun and there are different kind of people owning them. Weird relationships there too. No human has a face in the series. They do have a head but there's no face, just smooth skin. Weird. Well, it's a show about kappas so they're not important. Episodes are individual stories that form a nice totality. Usually they are somehow connected to earlier episodes using facts of kappas we have learned before. Animation is ok, nothing impressive because impressive things are rare in the series. Weird thing aren't. The ending song is weird too. Oh my, I think I'm starting to repeat myself.

It's hard to recommend this series. It's just too special (hah! didn't use the w-word there!). It gave me mild amusement for the whole run but nothing earth-shattering.

I bought this game for my PS2 station and became interested in the anime. What I really liked about it was its simplicity. How to raise a water imp demon 101. For a water imp demon it's not that ugly and the guy with no face is symbolic to bring all the attention to the water imp demon. For a short 5 minutes it is entertaining.

This is an odd one to be sure. The first ep is only 4 minutes long, and it chiefly involves a single guy buying some kind of weird water imp as a pet. Hilarity ensues... but only very slowly. Also the main character has no face! I don't know if it was stolen or what but it creeped me out slightly.

I'm not sure who this is aimed at...
