| This was the best Yamato movie IMHO, since it had a great plot, and a really moving and dramatic ending, though it takes a bit away from it knowing it has no continuity in the series cannon.
The animation/music is very old but still looks OK and it looks like it was very high budget for it's time.
The story revolves around the crew of the Yamato and their fight against the White Comet Empire, which is a cruel empire that conquers everything in it's way.
The story is very good and dramatic, though like with everything Yamato sometimes it crosses the line to soap-operaish dramatic, but nothing to bad.
I reccomed it to fans of the old school and Leiji Matsumto, but if you don't have a penchant for this, steer clear, it may be to "poetic" and "dramatic" for most people to swallow.

| a must have for battleship yamato/starblazer fans. the animation and sound are outdated especially for those viewers used to the current standard of animation, but for true yamato fans this means that this anime stays true to the original tv series. the story and the characters are from the tv series that means for yamato fans that the story is amazing, the original character adds great value to the anime as fans will know who they are and what their backgrounds are. the music has an "epic" quality to it albeit it suffers from the fact that it is geared for people who watched the series when it came out (seventies, early eighties). the final song/closing salute is very nice, it makes you wanna stand up and salute.
