This is a biography of “Furuta Sasuke” or “Futa Oribe”. He was a samurai who worked for Oda Nobunaga, but he was obsessed with strange things especially tea things. In other words, he is a totally “Otaku”. In this manga, his eccentric way of life was drawn comically.
The reason I read this manga is because I read the article in a newspaper. In this article, three reviewers praised this manga and nominated the most impressive works in 2006. However, I was disappointed at this. I expected that I could read trivia of tea things, but there not so many. But, the author’s viewpoint of the history is pretty unique, and I appreciate this point.
The drawing seems awkward. I think the author’s drawing is dynamic and matches the protagonist’s obstinate way of living, but it doesn’t suit everyone’s taste, and I don’t like it.
