Nice and Enjoyable Episode.
There would be some potential for a longer series and that's a good point.
So the biggest weakness is how short this movie is but it still manages to entertain.

The animation is beautiful, especially the backgrounds.Unfortunately the characters aren't that fluid as in appleseed(2004).But all in all great work.

Sound fits the atmosphere and the characters could also have been interesting. Biggest weakness here is that the maincharacter has the voice of naruto and wears an orange dress.I always had that image of naruto in mind.

It doesn't cost much time so watch it.

(Influence-Reven, a french fansub group. Good translation even if characters sparsely spoke)

Since so few people were involved in the production of this anime it is surprising they managed to come up with something so unique and breathtaking, despite the short feature length.

Animation, though heavily dependent on CGI, even in the character animation, was overall impressive and atmosheric, involving depictions and animation of many Chinese and Japanese folklore elements like demons. Also the animation of the architectural surroundings was detailed.

For such a short length characters and story could hardly have any developement but despite that the anime can be rewatched many times. This is a special anime and if you'd like a break from the more commercial titles give it a look. It is worth.
Sadly I didnt watch it on DVD that would feature superior picture quality and sound.

If you want something that is mildly creepy with intriguing characters and settings, look no further. This 'movie' of 24 minutes is very well done and will keep you interested (and confused). This is probably for the more experienced anime watchers though, the story is a bit odd for the layman. Either way, Kakurenbo is definately worth watching.

It's visual appeal far outshines everything else.

In the end, it feels like a 30-minute trailer for a larger series.

I saw this movie at Comic-Con. Wow! While it's short, it doesn't slow down. Every scene ads more to the atmosphere and plot. It starts off tame, but once it hits a certain point, Kakurenbo just gets seriously sinister.

It looks absolutely beautiful, too. I thought it was 2D for the first few minutes until I realized it was CG. The animation is amazing and the character designs - especially the demons - are completely unique.
