Ragnarok the animation is the tale of Rowan, a young swordsman and his childhood friend Yuufa the priest. Joined by the mage Takius, the merchant Maya, the warrior Iruga and the archer Julia, Rowan and Yuufa go on a series of adventures to discover who they are and fight the evil.

Quite frankly, this anime is so awful that I had to do the MST3K thing to get through it. I have no idea how anyone could rate it anything more than I did. I want to give this one a negative score. HOW THE **** IS THIS ONE IN THE TOP 200!?!?! THERE ARE *TONS* OF ANIMES OUT THERE THAT ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!! Hell, even Di Gi Charat was better than this disaster.

This anime is for the veterans and the RO faithful, but it manages to dissapoint from beginning to end. Ragnarok the Animation is like a lump of coal dressed in a fancy christmas box.

After watching all 26 episodes with the idea that it was a 6.4/10 (from the ratings), i was suprised. The anime to me seemed very well done and the character story lines seemed slightly vague, but gave all the necessary information. I've never played ragnorok so i probably saw this as more of an anime than ragnarok fans.

The anime had beautiful graphics, character interaction/developement, very good story (advancing through classes). The sound quality was great, no comment on the music since i don't listen to non-english music.

I would recommend this to anyone who's not critical about anime's. If your new or somewhat new to anime's, this would be one of the few you should start with ;) Enjoy.

I havent played the game, so I will review this as a classic RPG.
The story is boring, and overflooded with Yuufa's weaknesses and her playing the damsel in distress routine constantly. The merchant Maya-chan looks like she has a mysterious past, but that also turns out to be pretty boring. Also the story is full of unexplanied matters. Yuufa is a healer and can heal Rohan whenever ( and usually over and over ) when she pleases but can't heal the assasin guy ? Why ? Also why doea everybody act in disgust when the assasin uses venom?
I thought the charachters were simple , and the music off-the track, but the animation wasn't that bad. Also some monster designs were quite decent.
This animation could have told all the story in 13 episodes and didnt need 26 , as you can see how elongated some episodes are .
I wouldnt reccomend this title to a classic RPG lover as it doesnt have any humour, plot or character growth and isn't enjoyable at all.

Just cause Ragnarok Online is a fun game. Slapping Ragnarok onto an anime title doesn't make it good. This is a great example of why.

The animation is mediocre. Characters look so dull and uninteresting. It's the new millenium people. Show us what new technology can do. Even old animes from the 90s show better animations than this.

Sound is mediocre also. The voice acting is alrite but seriously it's Japanese so I can't prove if their dialogue are as it's translated. But by what I read from the subs the dialogue is so fake. It shows no emotions. Everything sounds like it's spoken with no enthusiasm.

Story, as I said before slapping the name Ragnarok on the title doesn't make it Ragnarok. It has the character's class and cities. But seriously, the story progress so slow and it's like beating around the bush. It didn't need 20+ episodes to conclude. It was better to end it at 13 or something.

Characters are unmotivated. I hate the characters name not to mention their squeaky high voice and how they use that voice to call the names. Yuffa and Roan pronounced using such high-pitch voice doesn't exactly make it cool. The characters have lame classes anyways. Only guy that got close to cool was the assassin.

I'm sorry people. If you're a Ragnarok Online fan don't let the title deceive you. You insulting Ragnarok even more just by watching it. I can't recommend it.

Take one part .hack (if you think Ragnarok is boring! -whew!!-), one part Lodoss and add an extra spoonfull of relativity (since most of the monsters, spells and places have the same characteristics in the PC game) and you have Ragnarok.

My only problem were the charcters SUCKED, but it's a good anime for those that have played RO and a decent waste of time.

Wow this anime is really boring. The first 5 episodes began to feel like eternity to me. But for the sake of completeness I endured the full 26 episodes and still felt the same. Really disappointing show. To begin with, the characters personalities were irritating. The storyline didn't connect each episode in a smooth sequence. The OP was average but got on my nerves after awhile. Not to mention that the ED
was terrible. I skipped the OP's n ED's after the first 5 episodes. Though I've nv played RO before, nevertheless, producing such a poor piece of work is a poor excuse. The animation sequences when the characters use their special abilities are just repeated over and over again till the viewer gets so pissed. If you're planning to watch this anime, please don't, you'll be left wondering what the time could be put to better use with. Little character development was another thing that was painful to watch.

I have not played the game, so I can only compare Ragnarok the Animation with other anime. Compared to other good ones, this was a real let down. The character development was poor, the storyline was unrealistic and of course, who could forget that annoying Yuufa?

Yuufa's squeamish screams for help dominated the anime. Roan might have been in love with her, but her unappreciative attitude gives this anime a completely bad impression. For some reason, she completely changes into a goody-goody towards the end and that happens within a matter of days. That is the unrealistic element.

The character design was okay (and Poipoi was cute) but that was about it. Some good music here and there to put the audience in the right mood and some fighting scenes (that weren't all that exciting). Storywise, this is a poor anime. There was too much on Yuufa's memories of Kio/Keough and I got sick of it. She also ALWAYS, ALWAYS trustingly follows the bad guy just because he has Kio/Keough's appearance. Now that is a terrible female lead.

Overall, Ragnarok The Animation was... A let down.

When I heard about a Ragnarok anime, I was very curious, and since I had only recently seen .Hack//DAWN, which despite reviews I liked quite a bit, I had my hopes high. They were smashed.

If you played and really got into the game, you would like this anime, otherwise its probably not worth watching.

The characters are flat, especially at the beginning, and get only slightly indepth later.

The plot rolls along really slowly, but again if you played the game all the stories comes in quite nice, and you'll be quite anxious to see them fight the next mvp.

I loved this anime for one reason, it reminded me of playing. Of course I never managed to take out golden thief bug as a job 1-1 or get a mvp card... but how the attacks come out almost exactly they do in game adds on to the enjoyment. The battle sequence is a bit boring, but again that's exactly how most parties fight ingame...

I don't see how this is enjoyable without getting into the game first, but if you did... you really should watch this.

It was average at best on being an anime based off the MMORPG. I didn’t think it would be actually this decent when I saw it. The title song was really good, but I seemed to never like that ending theme song. Yuufa wasn’t much as a ditz for her own part on being with the group, most of the time she had to put up with Roan‘s boasting during the middle of it when she felt she wasn‘t really useful in the story. And most of those other side characters, such as Takius and Judias, were reasonably good and had some humorous moments in their own role during the story. On the other hand, calling out all the spells and special moves that were given can be awfully dull and repetitive from most of their fights, but then later on it was added with some humor on their part from a certain episode. The beginning of the story didn’t had much of a plot as it did later on, which involved more with the character's roles during their ongoing adventure; while having to move from one place to another. The concept wasn’t too bad, but did had a few more quirks on it than having the good things that made it hard to notice. Nothing really groundbreaking, just something that could’ve been so much better.

Animation was pretty fair, the sound was good. The story was so-so, and not really engaging. The characters were largely annoying and generally one dimensional and poorly one dimensional at that... by the 5th episode i was saying the characters lines in reply to other characters before the character responded... yes that predictable and one dimensional. It wasn't very enjoyable and isn't one I'd recommend unless you've watched every good anime fansub out there first ;) ... it's definetly NOT a buy. Ever. All in all, I'd say it's an avoid until you have NOTHING else to watch.

If you like online gaming you would have heard of Ragnarok, and even if you don't Ragnarok has probably creeped up on you from the pages of a newtype magazine, forum or just general friendly banter.
Well Ragnarok have been increasing their mercahdising and advertisement recently and last year the released a Manga and now a totally unrelated Anime!!!
The anime is a comical, fantasy combination as we have seen many a-times. The thing I like is the range of different characters, just like the game, each character is to their own, no one is simulart and they all have their own emotions and beliefs.
The story is pretty much your average roll along hunt a massive monster, kill the massive monster, with lots of in-between character development.
In my subbed version the Main characters are Loan and Uya, they are a male and female team that have grown up together over the years and Loan esspecially wishes it to be more then this, although Loan also looks at every female with big boob's and nice legs... Typical man... never see me doing that >.>
Any way the story goes on and Loan and Uya end up meeting literally hundreds of characters and hundreds of monsters (and thats just in the first 3 episodes!).
If you liked .Hack// then you will love this, its sort of inbetween .Hack//Sign and .Hack//Dusk it has the comedy that will keep you laughing and the battles and character origionality of Sign.
Overall I say watch the first 2 episodes, you will get a feel for it, if you like it you like it, if you don't you should probably stop after the first 2!!!

A terrible, terrible show. There really is little reason to watch Ragnarok.

Being basically a series of awesomely dull adventures across the world of Midgard, Ragnarok is a chore to watch. The characters themselves are painfully unlikeable stereotypes - possibly as a result of the fact that this anime is based on an explicably popular generic MMO videogame.

Inidividual episodes will be hard for you to recall seconds after having watched them. This isn't helped by awful 'action' sequences consisting of little more than the characters lining up and shouting 'HOLY CROSSS!!!' or 'FROSSSSTTT DIVVERRR!!!!' at the badguys.

The storyline, when it finally kicks in, is pretty poor. This is mainly due to the fact it features a group of villains whose sole wont in life is to stand in front of the heroes laughing maniacally for up to 30 seconds at a time.

The only upside is that - towards the end - the show starts to grow some balls, with actual character death on a massive scale suddenly being flung in your face.

But the show really isn't worth watching. A ploddimg, committe produced cartoon to help sell copies of some videogame - Ragnarok isn't really worth your time to watch, money to buy or bandwidth to download.

I started off liking this anime, it was so much like an RPG game and I found the way Yufa said "Heal!" very amusing. But after that, it just got so boring that I watched just for the sake of finishing it. Actually the animation was rather good, though not flawless as the actions of the characters sometimes seemed a little rigid and except for the magic spells, the sword fights were lame.....
As for the characters, I've probably never seen such irritating characters before! I just didn't feel anything for them and couldn't care less if anything happened to anyone of them.
The opening and ending theme were ok though, but overall, this anime sucks, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone out there.

Despite the fact that this series was originally based on an extremely popular manhwa, it suffers terribly from having been more immediately modeled after the extremely popular online game that came out between the two.

As a result, it's awkward, formulaic, and jargony. People don't so much speak as call out clunky RPG commands over and over again. The best example would be Yuufa's character, who seems to spend the first episodes doing little more than shouting "Heal!" as the characters around her get into videogame attack formations. This is made even less natural by far too much awkward English talk of "akai potion" and "majikaru aitemu."

All in all, it's a below average fantasy that watches more like a very, very long advertisement for a game. I prefer my series based on games to make me FORGET that they're based on games. Instead, this one does little more than hammer that embarrassing fact home.

A huge waste of time for viewers, and a waste of the talents of the folks at Gonzo.

Being a loyal Ragnarok Online player for 2 and half years, I'd say this anime was a good tribute to the PC game.
The animation was great, epecially of ones of the assasin and mage. The illustration of the Greffen city was quite nice too. However, the magic spells/ability and the monsters' graphic disappointed me a bit.In my opinion, they weren't as good as the ones in the game.
The sound was O.K., while the storyline was a bit too easy to predict, and I still disliked the part where the Knight turned evil, for he was one of my favorite jobs in the RO game.
Overall, Ragnarok the Animation is okay to watch. However, if you want to truly enjoy this anime, you'll probably have to play the game first! ;)

I had been playing RO the game for almost 3years and when i heard of the animation is coming i was so excited !! But reality had always been cruel..the show was a failure.

Animation was not bad they are clean and nice. Sound was..well average.

Story is stupid. I could write a better one. Predictable, lame and unrealistic. Reuse animation kept on appearing. Examples when the characters are using their skill. Their fights look plain and hav no excitment at all. I thought the fights with the MVPs will be exciting but...

Character..well i did felt for them on some parts...but its very minor in the whole series. I hate to say this but this show has no value or enjoyment at all.

Im very disappointed as a RO player.

overall watchable but it really doesn't give much enjoyment. i must say that if u are not a player of RO, you will nv get what the anime is talking about.

not recommended for viewers who r looking for storyline based anime. this anime just jump from 1 scene to another scene.

not realistic at all since those hard to kill monster, like Maya, can be killed just by a Mage...note me it's a mage...not wizard...not sage and not crusader.

i watched this anime because i'm a fan of the game RO...and i finished it because i'm the type who does not like watching any anime halfway through. not really worth watching...
