A week ago reviewed Gravion and mentioned there's a second season to it and that it "will bring the passion into this show and some spectacular plot twists". So here we are.

For a short sum up: Gravion is a superrobo show with six pilots whose individual vehicles combine to make Super Heavyweight God Gravion that kicks alien butt. The first season was pretty one dimensional in this as the enemy was just nameless aliens with little room to motivation and other aspects. This changes now. After a couple rather dry episodes suddenly we are plunged deep into the past of Sandman that reveals the true reason why these beasts exist and why they attack Earth. At the same time other crew members start to show a past that causes serious internal stress. This leads to break ups, very dramatic events and huge climax where stronger mechas just jump up from every crevice. With all this the boring characters of the first season suddenly become worthy of feeling things for. There's also one added element in the second season as the UN vs Gran Knight angle that was very minimal in the first season. Now that gets a more thorough examination as somebody has to protect Earth while Gran Knight solve their personal problems (why do mecha pilots always have to be so unstable?) Even if Gravion never reaches the heights of passion Godannar did, the manic plot twists with improved character handling make this season an interesting watch.

To say the same from the negative perspective: The characters may get a bit deeper but it doesn't really to help to make them any more credible. That part was already lost with the first season and overflowing fanservice. Their development isn't that stellar either. The story may be full of twist but it's still silly. This is just say that the show basically doesn't change to anything, just intensifies. So if you're not a super robo fan, it's pointless to wallow through the first season to get to the "better" second season.

Otherwise I don't see a big difference to the first season. The animation is perhaps better but not so that I had paid much attention to it. The music continues to be proper super robo stuff that makes your heart pump and blood flow but the opening song isn't as good as before. Oh, and Sandman's COMBINE-pose is more sillier than in the first season!

Gravion is a sure hit for people with weakness to big metallic machines throwing punches at each other and parody. The show isn't going to impress any serious critic but it sure entertains you for all your money.

What a blast! This has to be one of the chessiest and corniest robot/alien invasion anime I have ever seen and if I thought it was taking itself seriously, I would no doubt have hated it, but because it sees itself as a satire, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute ^__^
The characters are so funny, so lively and so lame that you can't help but enjoy spending time with them. With more boobs and crotch shots than you can count, a very cheesy storyline and the dudiest, tackiest looking robots ever, Gravion Zwei is something everyone should watch at least once - just don't take it seriously!

An improvement from the original Gravion series, definitely! It starts to a good humorous beginning that makes you nostalgic of just how stupid the first Gravion series was, but then by the fourth of fifth episode, the real aciton starts kicking in and a whole string of coincidences and revelations follow.

The characters from Gravion were simply 'characters' with typical personalities that teamp up and pilot the robot Gravion. There is very little insight to their actual personalities because you only see them by surface value and there is insufficient character development. Gravion Zwei's commotion, war and dilemma gives a chance for the characters to finally gain some depth! It is interesting to see how they all react differently to the crisis that they are facing, and whether they behave with or without confidence, you sympathize with their choice. Even more so, it is interesting to compare the Gravion Zwei cast with their old selves in Gravion. You will see a big difference.

The storyline is actually existent in Gravion Zwei and it is not based on the mecha-dominant episodic robot-beat-up-villain type approach (finally). A lot more about character relationships is also revealed, and that is something new because much of it is unexpected, very sad, very bitter or very sweet.

And of course, the last issue I have.

Oh no, unfortunately there is mucho fanservice that I abhor, especially when it goes over the top. Gravion Zwei had a storyline with good potential (compared to Gravion) so they shouldn't have tried to destroy it with abuse of fanservice, as if they were trying to attract even more viewers. They already used this approach in Gravion and it was unsuccessful.

Better by comparison to the first, but by no means good overall. Zwei drifts away slightly just slightly away from the over-used cliches that plagued the first season. And unlike the first season, we get some actual boobage! Too much from that of Mizuki though who unfortunately seems to have gotten uglier and is anything but the sex symbol of this show in my book. Jeez... Nothing wrong with big boobs but you gotta draw the line between big yet sexy and big and nauseating and hers are without a doubt the latter. How she manages to be so agile is beyond me and she must be pretty strong what with dealing with that needlessly extra weight on her chest. Overall the fanservice is far more blatant in this series some of it really questionable though. Anyways... Gravion Zwei drifts away from the cliches and repetitiveness just enough for you to not want to go into a corner in shame and try to explain your infatuation with anime and why it's so good to your friends when they see you watching titles like this one.

This sequel was pretty much a roller-coaster by volume. The first volume was essentially the same as the first season of Gravion and I was ready to say to hell with this shit, toss it aside and pretend I never saw it. Fortunately it saved itself from that fate with the rather comedic character development especially that episode with the ping pong game. Toga's complete cluelessness just slayed me and he was always a riot in that aspect in both seasons. Ena though is still as annoying as ever and still continues to be the excess baggage of the 6 pilots. The 2nd volume of Zwei was by far the best part of either season. Despite the extremely cliched end to episode 7, I was left wanting more. Many secrets from the first season are revealed in this volume most being all too obvious but there were a few that I just did not see coming so I guess it deserves a bit of applause on that. One thing I will say on this volume though is the very disturbing shot of Luna in one episode. Her mech gets trashed and when you see the following shot of her, you get a shot up her crotch and layed out in a rather uncompromising position and completely unconcious. Was that really necessary? If that was their idea of fanservice they should be lined up and shot by a firing squad and left to rot in a similarly suggestive pose. That was honestly just sick. Or maybe I said that out of love for Luna as she was my favorite character. The third and final volume just reeked. The last two episodes just had me shaking my head at the complete nonsense that abounded and I was quite releaved when it finally ended.

Zwei in the end is far more watchable than its predecessor and while good by comparison, it is far from good overall. I make it a point to stay away from the unrealistic overly cliched giant mech series like this one, and I often ask myself how this one managed to sneak its way into my collection. Maybe I was expecting something else. Sadly it most certainly did not deliver.

Hey Hey Hey This sequal is far better than the first season. Althou you can sum it all up as 1 anime but this 'Zwei' is got more story to it.

First season doesn't tell us much and leave a bunch of stuff to be mysteries. So I thought this one couldn't have been worst bcuz it already at it's end.

Zwei in early ep. will remind you of the first season; people screwing around playing jokes on each others. Then it got more interesting later on. Like some of the childhood of Toga showed up and it go wayyyy back to childhood history of Toga that we wanted to see so much. Also some of the team dry a new color WOO HOO. More answer revelves in the last 4 ep. will make you smile.

I kinda ignore all the robot names and other thing that deal with Sandman, instead I forcus on char's history and emotional change bcuz it's was more interest that way.

If you already like the 1 st season cuz of the cool roboto transformation, then 2nd season will blow you away. BUT if you think 1st is a trash(like I did :P) be sure to give this one a chance; the story is great improve; new characters + old characters + transform characters will completely new make over for the series and lastly all the mysteries will be answer! Give Gravion a chance! :)

After seeing the first Gravion...I can't really explain what on earth is going on. Sure Gravion is fighting more aliens from outer space but the first one left us without a nice conclusion. It leaves questions that NEED to be answered in the second one, however; after seeing the first few episodes; it doesn't seem like those mysteries from the first Gravion will be answered. It seems to be developing another story line.

Animation: Same as Gravion, so characters from the first are the same as the second. Fanservice.

Sound: Good but not enough to bring this series up to par with the first one.

Story: Yet again...no clue what is going on...has multiple storylines with the introduction of a rival group. Only thing that is known is they fight aliens to protect the Earth.

Character: Pretty good but because of the fanservice things are often magnified ^^

Value: Your call, if you liked the first series...take a shot at the second series.

Enjoyment: Has its comical places however, nothing much has changed since the first series.

After 8 episodes (raw) I have to say I'm very impressed by this season. A lot of character development, and the backgrounds of each characters are nicely fleshed out and there some BIG plot twists and a considerably better storyline than the first season so far. Plus it retains its old school Super Robot feel which is a definitely plus for those looking for nostagia.

It was licensed! Blah. If you liked the first series, maybe, if not, forget it.

This is a direct contitunation of the first gravion, if you did not watch that, do not even bother with this.

Yay, the sequel finally arrives! The animation looks slighty better than the original, although AJ is not exactly known for their quality so it's really a guess on my part. The first episode was great, it actually gave direction to the show, and it looks like it might have some sort of closure this time around. The second episode was basically filler, but oh well. Except for an actual ending this time, Zwei is pretty much like the first series so far, and doesn't look like it will viel off-course anytime soon. After that cliffhanger (if you can even call it that) of the first series, this is definatly a welcomed site.
