| Chrono Crusade has some nice touches to it, but overall it is a pretty boring watch, capped with a poor mix of humour and drama along with an inordinate amount of episodes with no consequence.

| Chrno Crusade on the surface seems like any common anime involving angels and devils. However once I reached the ending I felt satisfied and felt as if I lived as the characters lived and struggled as they struggled. Humor, love, pain and regret that's what Chrno Crusade is all about.

| Apart from the few high-tension moments that come in the latter episodes this anime really has nothing that merits recommendation. It's a good enough series to watch if you are bored....or you have the type of job where you could watch this to while away the hours.

| As was stated before, the series is more like two completely different animes.
First Half - Fun, slightly filler like but enjoyable, lots of promises and intriguing moments.
Second Half - Mass depression and confusion, absolutely non-sensical character and plot movement. The series made a good effort to conclude itself in the last episode, but I felt there was still too much information missing to really satisfy oneself.
I'm dissapointed, because I felt this title would have some potential. I was sorely dissapointed.
If your into anime like Evangelion and such, this probably won't entertain you. Animation and limited action are the small redeeming qualities this anime has. Otherwise, don't bother.

| Chrono Crusade is definetly my favorite anime of all time.I enjoyed every part of Chrono Crusade it made me laugh,cry and had me at the edge of my seat.
animation-The animation for Chrono Crusade was beutiful and very well done.the characters in the seroies were drawn very nicely and were very detailed and cool.The backdrops for this anime are also very nice and more detailed then the character design which is much more original than alot of the designs for characters in other anime.
sound-Chrono Crusade had a very nice and smooth sounding soundtrack. The opening song Tsubasa Wa pleasure Line is a very nice soft and catchy song for such a sad anime.The sound effects wee awsome from the gunshots to the voice acting it was all very good.
Story-One of tbhe most original and compelling storylines ever written.The plot is obe of the strongest parts of chrono crusade .The plot is basically a young nun makes a pact with a deamon and it is there story on how they defeat evil and try to save each other and rossettes brother in the process.
characters-The characters are all very fun and entertaining and are some of the most well develop characters that i have ever seen in a series. The relationship between rossette and chron is very deeep and emotional and would touch anyone .satella is also a very strong female lead character and azmaria was so nice and cute(again the character design is beutiful).All the characters develop very deeply and that makes this anime very sad and depressing because of the many things these characters go through.
enjoyment-This is the single most enjoyable show ive ever seen it is very fast paced , high action ,bloody and also very sad and depressing and makes for a very good anime.

| To me, Chrno Crusade seemed almost like a parody of a more serious anime; lame humor, fan service, and fluff abound throughout the anime to ruin what could have been a decent storyline.
Chrno Crusade tells the story of Rosette, a nun, and her search for her younger brother with her partner Chrno, a demon. Sounds interesting, right? Wrong. The storyline starts extremely slowly, picks up a bit around episode 7-8, then slows down again (there is a sort of plot black hole in the middle of the series, with a bunch of filler-esque episodes) until finally it picks up again in the last few episodes. As to the ending which is so praised in many reviews: I think it was good, but it was by no means the spectacular ending claimed by many, partly due to the lack of development of the characters.
The bulk of the background for this anime consists of bastardized Christian dogma which had the potential to be extremely interesting but was not really developed to much extent. For instance, we find out little about what Chrno and Aion actually are, how long they have been alive, or anything much about God and the "Devil" themselves.
Chrno is an emasculated creature who, despite the many instances of "climactic" build up towards his demon form, does naught but yell at the sky. Rosette herself is a fairly weak nun with a gun, and you wonder throughout the series how she is able to live through many of herexperiences.
Satella, a woman looking for revenge, serves mostly as a tool for fan service (dozens of jokes about her breasts, many scenes with her in a bath/bathrobe/different outfits which accent her breasts) and her story and development are glazed over fairly quickly. Another fan service character, the inventor, was a typical old-man anime character who touched the nuns` breasts and looked up their skirts for cheap humor.
The most interesting character, Reverend Remington, is not explored nearly as much as he should have been and at the end of the series he was the only character I wished to see more of. As to the main villian, Aion, he could have used more background but overall he was a good villian.
As for the animation: in typical Gonzo fashion the animation is extremely well done, the action scenes are fluid, the backgrounds (including 1920s New York, the main setting) are detailed.
As for the soundtrack, the OP/ED were decent but not memorable or good by any means. The voice actors weren`t too great for the most part: Rosette and Azmaria had really annoying voices, and Chrno, a demon, sounded like a little girl.
This anime is not good enough to get a recommendation from me, though I would say it isn`t the worst anime I have seen. I have heard the manga is much better (supposedly the anime is only a few volumes of the manga and the anime`s last 6-7 episodes are completey made up) so I might pick up the manga in order to check that out.

| We'll answer your question first; yes, it is a good anime, go watch.
I thought it would be another one of those typical shounen demon-killing animes with endless battles of monster after vampire after demon, but it was certainly more than that. Although there were a few great battle scenes and awesome transformation clips, it was obvious the main focus of the anime was the storyline. Made me cry, made me laugh, made me *nod nod nod* in agreement when the charecters stated their morals... however some of the elements, love between family, faithfulness to duty and church, the unclear line between good and evil, were a bit overplayed.
Characters were also really well-done. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Sister Rosette and Chrno as well as getting spooked out by Ion and sometimes even Joshua. What made them intersesting was the fact that every person had a bit of mystery to them and in every episode there would arise a surprising fact or an unexpected action. Also, all the supporting characters played an important part at one time and were not ignored at other times. I loved seeing the brother-sister pair along with Chrno in both past and present... it always amazed me how much they've all changed.

| In the year of 1928 serious disturbances in the faith have arised. With each passing day more and more people chose to worship devil over god and become satanists. Trading their souls with devils for fortune or fame, in turn damaging the balance between earth and hell. That's why the holy Magdalene Order is formed, the best exorcists fight satanists and hunt the devils. Unfortunately, the strongest devil of hell has the plans of his own. He gathers other devils of immense power around him and starts a war against the god. In turn making enemies both in hell and earth. While he says that he's fighting for freedom, in all actuality he simply wants to destroy the balance between worlds. To cause an apocalypse and reign as god in a new world.
While the premise of the story is by no means great, especially for me, since I really like the occult stuff, it's carried out quite poorly. Actually, this show could've been so much better and could've been improved in so many ways that it makes me sad. A truely brilliant idea is lost thanks to the poor directing skills, poor decisions, or while not flat, but pretty out of place characters. The main problem is that the idea is brilliant for a mature show, yet this show it targeted at teen audience. Making the story as either too unbelievable or too serious, depends of which angle you'd look from. While I did enjoy the story at the latter episodes, where I finally managed to ignore a laid-back atmosphere of the show, I was pretty annoyed at the beginning, seeing how a brilliant idea is ruined.
All in all this show is hard to recommend. If you are like me, enjoying serious anime, you'll be annoyed at the beginning, but you'll love the last episodes. While if you are looking for a laid-back demon killing show, you'll be disappointed at the latter episodes. This show is stuck somewhere between seriousness and comedy making it quite hard to enjoy.

Outro aspecto grandioso, o repertório musical inclui uma trilha sonora memorável, com melodias suaves e tocantes. Destaques para a balada sentimental Sayonara Solitaire e a performance solo em Azmaria no Zesshou.
-Enredo-
Enfoca o ambiente caótico da década de 20, após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, mesclando o fantástico com o comum em uma trama apocaliptica e com ares drámaticos. O tema é de uma jovem freira que possui um "contrato" com um dêmonio e procura pelo irmão desaparecido. O desenvolvimento do enredo alterna entre momentos cômicos e comoventes, carregado de um tom herege, culminando num desfecho límpido e sem apelos.

| I enjoy watching super-natural genre because they usually have great style and some very complex storyline that make you think. Chrno Crusade does that for only second half of its series. After wasting many episodes on fillers and unnecessary character interactions, the anime takes an exciting turn as new plot elements are introduced. Although second to last episode was a bit anti-climactic, this anime paces itself extremely well all the way to the end. But its lackluster first half is not easy to swallow. It does not help that this anime really lacks a unique style. Characters are mostly conventional and some plot elements are in fact predictable. This anime is no With Hunter Robin, or Hellsing, but for those who can enjoy super-natural power genre with lot of Catholic twist this can be a winner.
Like I already said this anime's first half is very slow due to fillers. Nothing really important happens. Only characters are introduced and wasted on developing them way too much. Azmaria just came out to be a bit annoying as well as Satella. Although both character does come around a little bit towards the end that's way to late. Comedies most of the times work decently thanks to chemistry between Rosette and Chrono. Chrono at first look like all those streotypical mystery character with dark past, but does break out of its mold mainly due to his intricate relationship with Rosette. Rosette also is a typical tomboy character at the beginning only to be developed towards the end.
Second half is certainly gripping. Actions scenes begin to pick up a little bit, and many plot twists are introduced to keep us interested. To make everything better angst and violent emotions work very well throughout the second half. What I most enjoyed was the fact that character very understandable and surprisingly real in their own way. The last episode with Chrono and Rosette was one of the most memorable and real moments I've seen in all the animes I've watched. I couldn't help but feel for the situation Chrono and Rosette was in because their emotion was just too true.
This dramatic turn of mood between first and dsecond half can only be matched by My-Hime. The bright first half is just thrown away for more intense and angsty second half. I won't spoil the ending, but if you do not like controversial ending this anime will not satisfy you. I didn't mind it, but I also was surprised that the makers decided to end the anime in a very unclear manner.
But in and in all, last the last reviewer said, there is much spite in divinity. The anime plays around a lot with different religious philosophies such as deism, fate and etc. But in the end God is seen with negative light, and that seem to me very self evident.
I certainly would've liked this anime if this anime had more style. Character designs were just way to generic. Action seens were not all that great. The sound is also straight up J-pop/rock. This is no Hellsing folks. If you are expecting something like that you won't get it.
This anime could've been a lot better, but resorts to mediocrity due to its very bad first half. But I truly do think the second half to the final finish is worth the wait. I recommend all the viewers of this anime to stick through and decide if this anime is truly worth your time. To be honest I shared some bit and pieces of tears towards the end... and if any anime can make someone weep at least a little bit, I say give it a try.

| Unlike the previous poster, i thought the show was crap for the first 14 eps or so, and it got better when the main story line picked up. It wasn't good enough though. There were times when i was totally bored out of my mind watching this. It took me like a month to watch this. IT'S NEVER TAKEN ME A MONTH TO COMPLETE AN ANIME SERIES. I was so bored I started rewatching episdoes of hajime no ippo while dling another anime. Of course the message of the show was, GOD SHITS ON EVERYONE ALWAYS. Like I needed to watch an anime to figure that out. Totally booooooooooooooooooooring. To the people that say this is their favorite anime of all-time, seriously you guys have really low standards for entertainment. Are there any positives? Chrno, and thats it.
Heres something from the dumbest character(besides the worthless azmaria of course) in the show:
Satella - OMG devils killed my family, I hate devils get away from me chrno.
OMG chrno just saved my life but I still hate devils.
I saved chrnos life only because i don't want to owe a devil for the rest of my life.
OMG, Chrono come stay with me in my house in San Francisco I love you.

| It isn't often that I start out liking a series only to be sorely disappointed in it by the end. Chrono Crusade turned out to be such a series for me.
The first half of the series is filled with promise of how things might go. Between the religious references, the dark and mysterious setting, and the mysterious storyline I was looking forward to something epic and thought provoking. As it is, the second half of the series completely fails to live up to its potential.
Character development is almost non-existent except for the two lead characters, and their "changes" feel completely forced. Supporting cast characters are relegated to cameos and uselessness, and there are even some characters whose presence in the series is completely superfluous. The story would have gone the same way had they never even been introduced.
The only positive thing I can say for Chrono Crusade is its animation is consistently good throughout the series. But animation quality alone cannot carry a series anymore, and the rest of the series simply fails to deliver at all.

| This anime deserves a better rank. This is my favorite anime of all time. The only reason I could see it not rating any higher is because this anime deals with religion. However, a good critic cannot let their personal beliefs influence how they rate a show. I am a religious person, but I still loved this show. It is probably not for religious fanatics though. Also, it should not be compared to its manga version. I have not read the manga, but I could not find anything wrong with this show. It may not be just like the manga, but it was perfect for someone new to the series. I kept looking for the reason why this has the rating it does, but I could not find a good reason for it. People who write reviews should not let any other outside forces to influence the review. If the reviewers had not done that with Chrno Crusade, it would have a better rating. I highly recommend this anime.

chrono crusade was the best anime that i have ever seen and definetly my favorite anime of all time.
animation-i love the animation it is very clear,the scenary looks very nice and the fight seens are animated very nicely.
sound-the sound for chrono crusades opening theme is a very nice sounding j-pop song that sounds very southing.the voices for the characters are also very good especially for satellas german accent very nice and the way azmaria sung was just beutiful.
story-i thought that the plot was very originol and how a nun has entered into a contract with a deamon and as he gets to turn full deamon her life span gets shorter i just love the plot.
characters-this is my favorite part i love the whole entire cast every single person first of chrono is my favorite hes different from any other deamon stereo type in anime and rossette is the coolest nun in the world who shoots a gun.i also enjoyed satella and azmaria as well and how the relationship between all the characters develop and how close they become.
value-this anime is definetly rewatchable and i bought the whole boxset .
enjoyment-this is a very enjoyable anime that is fun entertaining has a very deep plot and many twist in it with awesome fight scenes.

| I didn't expect much from Chrno. It is in fact a very underated anime. Not to be confused with the (great) SNES Squaresoft game, Chrono Trigger.
The series really takes off on the 10 episode, because the mix of humor and action isn't so well on the first episodes. Later you get on a fast action rollercoaster and the story builds up. The story itself isn't that solid, it has plot holes and may be difficult to understand. Yet i love religious refferences on anime any time.
The characters are solid and you will get into them pretty much quickly. Rosette, Chrno, the sinners have deep background and some specific goal.
The animation is top tier. Maybe not the usual style, but it does the job. Everything is well drawn, the special effects are top notch and the backgrounds are spectacular.
And about the ending, i will not say much, just that this is one of the best endings i have ever seen on an anime or show.

| Chrono Crusade is a very pleasant surpise.
I expected a fun ride, with stupid reasons to put nuns with guns, fanservice and lots of action.
Instead i got a deep, multi-tiered show, that has all the ingridients of and epic, while still having lots of fun action and silly moments.
First, the technical aspects of the show:
The animation, coloring and lightning for this show are top notch, and make it look very high budget; my only gripe is that the show isn't presented on widescreen as it would have been amazing that way.
Soundwise, it has some great music and memorable tunes, but nothing truly groundbreaking; with a few exceptions like the OP song; voice acting is remarkable in both languages.
The story is actually pretty good, though you may loose track of some details as it goes kinda fast sometimes and has a lot of religious references, but it's not hard to follow at all; it' really well constructed and development and creates lots of memorable moments throughout, leading to a powerful finale, that while not happy, seems credible and painfully right, it really has some touching moments that will make you wet your eyes.
The character development is pretty robust especially for the main cast, though i would 've liked a bit more exploration on the bad guy's side, they are developed in a good way but, the main baddy is just plain hateable, and though i knew his reasons of action, it would've been nice to give him a deeper role than being pure evil... but still, Rossette, Chrono, Azmaria and Satella more than make up for it, they are deep, real characters, that will be impossible not to feel for through the show.
The show was never boring and very enjoyable from start to finish, and if you can get a hold of the non-thinpak dvds, they offer tons of great extras that flesh out the story and explain many details of the CC world, they are totally worth it and add tons of value to an already stellar package.
"Have fun when you're having fun, cry when you need to cry", that quote from Rossette, the female lead in CC, pretty muh defines the heart of this show.
It's fun show when it's supposed to be, and emotional and serious when that's the deal, and integrates both very well, and i would recommend it to fans of action, drama and comedy, since it excels in all of it's phases.

| "Wow" is a word of exclamation caused by a stunning event or object. "Wow" can also describe my impression to Chrno Crusade as one stunning anime so perfect it will touch you for as long as you live and no anime fan should live without watching this show at least once. Yes, it's THAT good.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is Chrno Crusade, a name NOT to be confused with the Tetsuya Takahashi's Chrono video game series.
Well drawn caracter designs, well drawn background, well colored, very appealling to the eye. Every single spell effect, every single lighting variations, every single line, color fit the mood of the anime. The animation itself is fluid enough to evade the blocky status. Each facial expression touches us. For a 2003 anime, this is Heaven.
The opening and ending songs are music to my ears. The holy songs Azmaria sings take a while to get used to and end up really relaxing. The overall music wont win any award but fits soooo well with everything. As for the ever exceeding voice overs, Chrno Crusade has about the best screaming scenes (the scenes where one caracter screams like Hell!) in all anime history.
There is about 5 stories put in one great story. First there is Rosette who's become a sister to fight off devil with Chrono, her devil side-kick who consumes Rosette's lifetime (like a "Chrono"meter ooh!!) just by living. Rosette ultimate goal is to save her brother Josuah from the evil evil Aion, a devil like Chrono who's a Sinner which is a enemy of Hell. Then we learn about Aion's plan then everything changes. Then Rosette meets this holy girl, Azmaria, who is an Apostle chosen by God himself (holy powers!!) and wants to grow up to be like Rosette. Then she meets a Jewel summoner who is looking for hey old sister and to take revenge from the devil who took everything from her. Wow that's a lot happening!
In short, the story is like Rosette's caracter. It never drags, it doesn't lose time. Even filler episodes have their purpose. It will suck you in and never let you go until you've gone through all 24 episodes with one of the greatest endings ever. After this one, you will look differently at Angels and Devils kinda like the Constantine movie.
Characters are great. From the main ones to the secondary ones, they all have a story to tell, though some die very quickly. You will come to like them all as they all are pretty interesting.
Should you rewatch this anime many times, you must do research on what this anime is based because it leaves a lot to be found on the christian religion.
To finish, this is "wow", it stands up there with Gankutsuou, Scrapped Princess, Elfen Lied as a action-drama masterpiece. It will touch you like no anime ever has from the first second to the last.
This is "Godlike"!

| Chrno Crusade is one of the only series I can say I enjoyed fully from start to finish. This series delivers on all fronts and I'd recommend it to anybody.
----ANIMATION----
The animation in the series is great. There are never any choppy scenes, the character designs are visuals are great. I especially liked the animation when Holy bullets impacted and flashed with a cross in the center. Everything is fluid and all of the effects are great and the OP is great.
----SOUND----
I think that the music in this series was a big part of what made it's presentation so good. The OP is great, number one on my Most Played list on my iPod :p. The music always compliments whatever is going on in the show at the time, adding tension, emotion, or comedy as needed. The voice acting on the subs is great, and even the dubbed version is watchable, though I would never watch that over subbed.
----CHARACTER----
Chrno Crusade has some great characters in Sister Rosette and Chrno, the two lead characters. They're both really well developed and likeable. Their pasts become known when it's necessary and their stories are both really compelling. Rosette in particular is really convincing and I've never become as attached to a character in any other series as I have to her. She and Chrno make great partners and compliment eachother really well and the dialogue between them never seems forced, awkward, or overly dramatic. Just...really good characters. The supporting cast is also good, and the villains and Rosette's brother, Joshua, are also really well done.
----VALUE----
I bought the Chrno Crusade complete series DVD and I couldn't be happier with it. It was a great buy and the series is completely worth rewatching or sharing to spread some much needed anime love. Good show to create converts with since anime seems to carry so much unwarranted hate.
----ENJOYMENT----
No series(aside from maybe FMA) comes close to as much as I've enjoyed Chrno Crusade.
You really owe it to yourself to watch this series if you like action orientated shows with substance, especially while shows like Bleach are out there polluting the genre with DBZ-esque plotlessness and generic characters that everybody seems to love. Chrno Crusade's got everything-humor, action, great animation and music, a few hints of romance, and an unexpectedly tragic but great ending.

| Chrno Crusade's a very good anime. I just wished the ending didn't end the way it did.... i cried but i guess it's a good thing.
the story was good, the anime is somewhat dark tho- you'll hear a lot of screaming and crying to the point my bro who was in the same room as me got so annoyed. hahaha but still go watch it! it's good.
it's a mixture of action, drama, light comedy, and slight romance too, so i think it's a pretty good mixture of genres for an anime. i honestly think if the characters weren't the way they were in this anime, the anime probably wouldn't have been enjoyable.
the only few tihings I don't like about this anime is that at first it was confusing a bit with all the information being thrown around and it has a hint of sexuality, but hey... everything has it nowadays.
