| Tsukihime is a story about a seemingly pitiful guy and his past and present. Touru suffers a major injury in the past and thus has a forgotten past in a very similar case as that in Elfen Lied.
The story is fairly dark in tone and contains some fairly bloody scenes. Though there are many unexplained points in the plot, there are equally many nice surprises that keeps the series suspenseful. If the viewer has watched FSN, this series is done by the same group. Both series share certain traits and plot elements such as the starting premise of a guy being pulled into a dangerous situation out of his control.
If you can live with a few plot and character holes, this series is still a good watch if you're looking for a bit of mystery or suspense.

| I finally got to this one despite hitting a bunch of the Top 200 already and can say I was a little disappointed. I can see why this one is considered a harem since at least 3 girls are after the main guy, but this isn't a comedy which seems to be usually associated with harems in my opinion. It is really hard to stick a genre on this one since it fits many types. The problem is that it doesn't fit them well.
The story was a little too predicteable, had a few holes in it, and I personally was annoyed with the main character, Shiki, for almost the entire series. Granted, the story had wonderful potential and was told well in places, they just kinda took the mysteriousness out of it and nerfed it after the first 3 or 4 episodes. Despite that though, I still think it's average overall. If you are looking for a magic/fantasy anime with an interesting story, thier are better out there in my opinion, but this one is worth a watch if you don't feel like looking for something else.

| this was not what I expected, but it was a good surprise.
This is one of those anime where you have to just forget about criticisms and just go along with it. Ignore all the plot holes and don't try to remember all the questions you have in the beginning because they are not gonna be answered. Once you've done that, then you are in the right state of mind to watch it.

| I really loved this anime. I'm not a big fan of Game anime because they usuaully don't go with the game at all. I've never played this game and I've heard it's Hentai. The story was so confusing at first, but it makes more sense in the end...Well kinda...
The animation was great. I liked the how they drew the characters and how intense the gory some of the scenes were. It was very awesome indeed.
I think this anime has the best Opening song and animation I've seen so far. It just screams "Awesome!" I loved it so much. The music in the anime was also good. I just loved the Opening more.
The story is kinda confusing. This kid wakes up seeing lines. Basicly if he trace the lines with something (even his hands) it will be cut regardless of how strong it is. It's like seeing the weakness in something. Then the story goes into some kind vampire theme. He walks home, sees this girl, for some odd reason decideds to kill her, and in a split second she's cut into 17 pieces. Later she appears all healed saying that she's a vampire and she's impress a high school student was able to kill her. That's basicly how the story is going to start. From then on the story will make almost no sense, but as you go along it will make some sense. There's a couple of episodes that I loved and that are fun to watch. The Amusement Park episode was probably the most funny one of them all.
It's kinda hard to so some character development in only 12 episodes, but I was impress on the development the main character did in only 12 episodes. It's rare to see that in a short anime. I know there might be people who disagree with me, but I was impress.
Overall it's a good anime with a weird storyline. It seems rather short and something they don't explain certain things that will leave question in you. My advice is probably go watch the manga which I've heard it's 10x better than the anime. I've never played the game, but I heard it has a happy ending instead of the sad ending in the anime which makes me feel happy about it.

| A very good show...
If you liked:
Elfen Leid
Sola
fate//stay night
Then you would definitely like this show. I would rate it a 8.83, losing points on some uncreative charecter design, an ending not tragic enough for the show as far as i am concerned, and for leaving too many things unanserwed. This is the first time an anime has had more questions unanserwed than was to my taste. i usually love unanswered questions, but this show raises some that are necessary to the plot. Still, watch it

| Well, this is a weird one. I watched this as a rental, and was disappointed by it, but then went and bought it anyway. WTF?
Lunar Legend Tsukihime is a vampire/harem show based on a romance computer game. As a reviewer at THEM Anime reported, this is a show that feels like it might get good any minute. Figuring out what went wrong is probably as entertaining as watching the actual show.
Good:
Although the actual animation is limited (it's a TV show of average budget), it has a very glossy look thanks to lots of filters and light effects. This applies mostly to exteriors; interiors usually look drab and basic. The music is appropriate and very good if you like that sort of thing - string quartets and spooky choirs. The idea of a character being able to see glowing red fracture-lines on everything is interesting and different, and the discovery of a bloody cell under a house in a later episode is very powerful.
Bad: The story and the character relationships just never coalesce. The fact that it's based on a game is no excuse - the characters from the very popular game should have been interesting enough for a talented writer to turn into an involving script. But most of these characters don't evolve at all, or even reveal anything interesting about themselves. And the event that starts the story is never explained or even questioned: why DID Shiki (the hero) attack and "kill" Arcueid (main love interest)?
This show does have a unique modern-gothic atmosphere, if you want that kind of thing, and, as I said above, it often feels like it's about to get good. So it's a frustrating, badly flawed show which may nonetheless be worth watching if you think you will enjoy the atmosphere.
WTF indeed.
EDIT: I have bumped up some of my ratings, as I just haven't been able to shake this show. I now have the soundtrack CDs (the first one is EXCELLENT), and am ordering the mangas. My above criticisms related to harem related problems of the show still stand, but I don't want to let those have a negative effect on my ratings for the good elements of the series. Recommended to fans of Boogiepop Phantom and Hellsing TV.

| Please don't think I'm ignorant because i tell you the truth that if you watch this anime you too would see that there is no way of explaining what this anime is about. All i can do is tell you what you might see or be told
-Boy meets girl (a vampire) and together decide to hunt vampire(s)
-A love circle of girls who all like the same boy (who searches for the answer to his feelings)
-A Story about a boy who lives with his sister and journeys to find out his past and who he really is
One can only hope to grasp any type of consistency of the story and character development. The character's all fail to become established meaning your going to see many types of of personality's from the same person which could be serious, comical, romantic, etc. varying from episode to episode. If you love vampire anime's as i do please skip this one because if you don't you'll be asking yourself what really is a vampire? Because vampire's in this anime have a completely different definition.
Is this Crap? Maybe. Literally and Figuratively
Literally because to me its value is the equivalent of crap its self
Figuratively because it really isn't crap in reality but it sure was a waste of time

| What are vampires? Is the prejudiced opinion about them being ruthless bloodsuckers of the night correct? What if vampires wouldn't require blood to survive, what if they would only drink it for fun or leisure? What if they wouldn't be scared of the daily light? Wait a second, then, besides the eternal life, they wouldn't be that different from humans, would they? Then, if it's true, can vampires truely live with humans in peace? Can they love or even be loved?
That's the basical concept of Shingetsutan Tsukihime. An anime, which is in fact based on a doujin game, though if I wasn't to accidently find this information, I wouldn't have guessed. While both the story and characters are clearly above average, this show leaves you with the feeling that something was missing. It had a potential to be longer, but seeing that it's quality lessens by each episode it was probably a good idea to end it short. In the end this is a good show, yet a great start makes later episodes a little bit disappointing.
I think this was one of the best animes I've seen about vampires. If you are into that stuff, then check this out. If you like originality and love affairs between two, impossible matches, then give this a shot as well, though in the end it will all depend on your taste. Oh, and this show is clearly male orientated (doujin game *cough*), so I'm not too sure if female audience would find it likeable.

| Shingetsutan Tsukihime is quite a surprise. Despite having only 12 episodes and being based on an erotic game, it has an intricate story and some of the best characters and storytelling ever in an animated series.
The pacing is quite different from most other series, which is made more noticable by the excellent colours of the background that immediatly let you tell the time of day.
Couple that with excellent linework and a highly memorable musical score, and the result is a series that you don't want to miss.

| Shingetsutan Tsukihime is about ... well ... a simple guy who's not so simple, and a vampire. Dark and grisly, Shingetsutan Tsukihime offers you a wild ride in to the depths of darkness and jealously (yeah, we got a little bit of harem goin' on there, and I love it).
S.T. is extremely engaging from the moment you start watching when you think, "Oh, who's that good looking blonde?" It turns out that nothing is as it seems. S.T. also gets brownie points for awesome storytelling technique. We know nothing more than what our main character, Shiki, knows.
It's dark, it's emotional, and it's 12 episodes (my favorite part). The pace is perfect for both plot development and characterization so you won't be bored, and every frame is in some way dedicated to progressing the story. A hot vampire woman and a mild-mannered four-eyes fighting evil together. Sounds good, doesn't it?

| No lies. Shigetsutan Tsukihime goes for something that I have no idea about what it is. Let me tell you how I felt when I finished watching this anime: I felt cheated; it was a total waste of an emotional investment. The anime throws around emotions of sadness and happiness and anger as if it they were disposable and unlike Furi Kuri, they do it so seriously that the substance, very little of it, rules over the style.
Although not the most fantastic of fantasies, Shingetsutan Tsukihime does contain things such as vampires and magic and all that jazz. Shiki, the main character, starts his reluctant relationship with a vampire, Arcueid, and it grows into something so deformed that I can't even place it into the realm of analogy. The anime even betrays its own premises at times just to satisfy some fans.
If you've ever seen The Silence of the Lambs, which is incidentally an excellent movie, then you'll see some sort of resemblence to it, though maybe not right away. Shigetsutan Tsukihime however, skips over so much of the great characterization that was possible through simple dialogue and camera angles that defined Mr. Hannibal Lecter. Shingetsutan Tsukihime is philosophically unchallenging and completely unfulfilling, animated with too much heart and not enough brain.

| USE YOUR IMAGINATION PEOPLE!!!!! That's what this anime is screaming at me, and I don't like it. And I don't even know why people like this.
So Shingetsutan Tsukihime goes like this: Let's include as many harem-anime cliches as possible, clump them together with horror elements of vampires and such, put in a little special effects just to impress, and use 12 episodes to extrapolate the relationships between characters while not explaining the whatever-the-hell-you-call-that-a-plot. And after that, let some people make a 2D-fighting game and have the characters kick each other's ass!
So one, you have vampires and a guy with glasses who can cut lines and destroy stuff. The first expectation anyone would have would be: blood, killing, and action. And this anime calls it's action scenes action. Yawn. Then you get the guy with glasses, put him in a high school setting, give him a boring personality and get him to score with the chicks that hang out around him. Gawd this is so boring. And they don't even bring any angst out of him! How can I watch this if the main character can't go emo and kill things? The setting was PERFECT for this, but unfortunately you won't see any of that in this anime.
Two, the harem. Okay, so this is your typical harem: a senpai, a good friend, a supernatural partner, and your sister. Well okay, the sister wasn't suppose to be there (but that's still hot), but the others are fine... as long as you do it right. This harem is just so BORING. All four of them interact in the same episode... at an amusement park. They hate each other and bathe with each other. And at the end of the episode, nothing happened... except for the suspense, but that's the next paragraph. Then after all that, none of them fights each other to death! Besides, all of them weren't attractive anyways (maybe except for the sister...), and the good friend was suppose to DIE. If she DIED, then maybe we'd get to see a little emo-Shiki... And on the subject of characters, Shiki's best friend was eeeexxxxtremely boring and pulled-out-of-a-rabbit-hat. Can't go wrong with the I'll-be-there-for-you-and-tease-you-when-I-can't-score-myself best friend!
So this episode is 12 episodes long, which brings us to point number three. With 12 episodes, I was hoping at least every other one would be filled with blood and stuff to keep me on the edge of my seat. Hell no: instead, they start with the most boring first-half-of crap I've ever sat through (details in the next paragraph). Then finally, the 7th episode actually pulled me in (heck, I've watched one episode a day until the 8th episode) and I wanted more (yep, this is the amusement park episode). 8th episode was pretty good, and so was the 9th. But then, after a giddy 3 episodes, the mood returns to what it was before and ends like so. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT FOR!? YOU MADE ME FEEL GIDDY FOR NOTHING. I don't know how to blame this: the storyline wanted to go boring again, or the animator's decisions. I'll go with the latter, because of the next problem.
Point three point five is the animation. How to animate this crap: let's pull the budget from the action scenes and put them into the backgrounds and character departments so that the viewers don't have to see unproportional faces (I'll blame NHK ni Youkouso by GONZO for this)! I don't know what budget this series was on, but that didn't even save the series. The character designs are to blame: this is a harem - make the girls hot pl0x. I don't get my wish fulfilled. Geez, this is a freaking harem anime HELLO ANIMATORS? Even with proportional faces, they stopped right there - uh... facial expressions please? They bombed that while trying to save some face. And to save even more budget, here's a little dialogue to explain that problem:
Animator: "It's time for the action scenes. Shiki is about to kill the villain. So let's make him slash him and the next scene should be..."
Director: "Take a shot of the moon!"
Animator: "...Okay..."
Classic, overused, and very much brings down the suspense. 90% of the (few) battles are like this, and this explains why the first 6 episodes were boring. I'll give credit for the vampires-turn-to-ash CG effects, but they drew themselves a line and called it there.
Moving on to number four, I have no idea what this story wants to be. Do you want to be a vampire-slaying anime or a typical harem that's cheesier than the majority out there? Apparently, they chose the latter, and so bring out the cheesy dialogues! Want to go on a date? Are you okay? Let's do more useless things, together! Sure, I know what they mean when they say useless things and everything else like that, but gawd that was hard to bear. The series even complimented itself when they went to the movies together! Good job at saying you suck! Another thing that was unbearable was that they never fully explained the story. Arcueid is the princess of what? Ciel is the church of what? You somehow killed me what? Or maybe they crammed everything (oh wait, they don't have enough to cram... placement!) at the end because they were hoping you would be hooked by the first several episodes. Uh-huh.
And so at number five, are your stars of the show! Unfortunately, none of them had a personality to begin with - in other words, every single one of them (except for the sister!) was boring, mundane, pulled-out-of-a-rabbit-hat, etc.. Along with not drawing any good facial expressions, the seiyuus were forced to blurt out cheesy dialogue at each other in a tried voice in hoping they could put some life into these already failing characters. Unfortunately, they couldn't, but I can't blame them for that. There were a lot of pause-shots, too, so that can't be helped either. I guess 12 episodes was actually a good choice to stop (and thankfully) at.
Finally, we get to point number six: MELTY BLOOD. This was what made me want to watch this anime - the 2D fighting game that was very popular and probably still is. The characters had kickass moves, kickass abilities, kickass facial expressions, and the such. I'll admit it, this is the most pressing factor of my high expectations going into this series. The hype made this a good game, but going backwards back into it was like suicide.
The only good thing about this series was Akiha-sama (the sister!). Her scenes pretty much saved the series: 1, when Shiki took a peek at her room to see if she's okay; 2, a certain hot flashback scene (though technically, it ain't incest); and 3, when she showed her techniques in a battle! At first I thought she was the older sister, but she turned out to be Shiki's imouto... I was extremely disappointed. Her character barely surpasses as average above all the other characters, followed closely by the mysterious twin maids (just because). And this was the best thing in the series in my opinion.
So there you have it, a popular but distasteful vampire-harem-game anime that just didn't do it for me. Want a vampire-slaying anime? Not here. Want a decent harem anime? Not here either. I don't know about the game source, and MELTY BLOOD was pretty good, but the anime... I can't stop you from watching it, but I'll still advise you to watch something else.
Caution: Beware of your mouth uttering a many sarcastic comments while watching.

| A very good anime indeed. I cannot believe this anime is orginated from H game. The flow of story is very good and excellent. The music and the drawings are good, but I feel like the the details could be further enchanced. For the sound, the lack of variety of soundtrack does annoy at bit. The story sounds boring at the start but it gets better and better when it goes on.
I feel like this is more of a love anime rather than an action one. It is completely different to ones like love hina that girls turn up from no where and happen to like only one boy.
In conclusion, this anime stands out from other anime. There aren't anime similar to this one and this anime is unique. I guess the only thing I really want to complain is they could have make the story a bit longer.

| Tsukihime is an excellent anime. Some of the scenes is a bit bloody. The animation is really nice, the colouring is great, and the the animation was really smooth. The music is nothing too special, but the ending is nice. Some of the characters are not developed because of the amount of episode it has. The story is confusing at first, but you ll slowly pick it up near the end. The are a few things that are not explained in the anime that might make the viewers confused. I really enjoyed this series because of the serious plot. The story is a bit bloody and always has a dark atmosphere, if you dont like those types of anime, then i dont recommend this.
Overall an excellent anime.

| tsukihime was a very good sad bloody and awesome seriesa from the great animation and very good characetrs and awesome character development.
animation-the animation was very nice all the characters looked nice and had great color added to them.the scenery was also very nice and smooth but i prefer how the bnlood was colored and how it looked so real.
sound-this was tsukihimes worst part ,but it was still good the sound was basically a opera type sound which was perfect for every scene and setting of the series.the sound affects were also good when the swords clashed you could hear the great sound.
story-at first this was very confusing but in the last episode it all made sence and that there is more then shiki being able to see red lines on people and fight vampires.
characters- the characters were all very interesting in there own way and none of them are as they seem.i personnaly like ciel and shiki the most but i also liked arcuied and the rest of the cast.
enjoyment-this is a very serious and bloody series so if u dont like that then i suggest you dont watch it but i liked it and i thought that the last episode rapped the series up good.

| It is an excellent anime to watch. Although the animation is a bit bloody, it is great. The music is absolutely wonderful. It seriously melts into the story and is an inseparatable part of the anime. The story line is intriguing suspenseful. It hooks you and just won't let go even after finishing the anime. I prefere a happier ending though. But nowadays no one gets what they want. The characters are unique and original in the anime. It is easy to synpathize with them. For anyone who want to watch a good short anime, this is a serie to watch. A warning, you will need a box of tissue at the end.

| Interesting and engaging story, the characters are all likeable and it is easy to care about what happens to them. However, because the series is so short the characters fall short of being what they could have devloped into.
The sound was mainly orchestral, with low soft sounds that enhanced the melancholy and sad feel of the anime and set the tone for the series itself. However, it was pretty repetitive.
The idea of "dead" seeing eyes is also unique in the anime world, and if only for that reason alone is worth seeing this anime.
Rather abrubt ending and little background information on a few characters detracts from the story; the series could have easily stretched to the typical 26 episode series if events and backgrounds were fleshed out, but then again, that is probably why they weren't. Even so, the characters could have used more background, and it would have made the series more interesting in my opinion.
One example of the underdevlopment of the plot occurred in the first part of the anime. The most confusing part of the anime is definately the first meeting between Shiki and Arcueid and throughout the rest of the series we are left wondering why what happened, happend.
The interaction and relationship between Shiki and Arcueid was the highlight of the series, as the other characters were not given much attention.

| This anime made me sleepy whenever i watch it especially the time it was aired is 11:30pm. This anime is below average for me. I was shocked to find it in the top 200!!
I thought to myself "has the world gone mad?" no, just kidding. I think there are many anime worse than this.
ANIMATION: this is a new anime, so of course the animation is great, the character design is okay, they are well drawn. The problem is that, for me, they lack facial expression. And also, the color is very vivid but still the atmosphere is so gloomy. I wonder why that is.
SOUND: don’t like the sound very much, it repeats over and over, so very boring and depressing. As I said in my other reviews, its okay if the music repeats but not that often. I think I hear the same sound in every episode. I like the ending song though. And about the dubbing, I think its okay; they've portrayed their roles well.
STORY: The story is ok, but not very interesting; it’s just about 2 types of vampires who, after hundreds of years still hold a grudge against each other. This character named Shiki is able to see lines in which if he cut, the thing will be easily destroyed. I find that ridiculous. And after finishing the series, I wondered "what happened?" or "that was it?" I feel as if that nothing important has happened, and the whole series is just a filler.
CHARACTER: The characters are some of the worst. They’re all so boring and serious, from the main characters up to the last. There’s not much character interaction too, it’s as if the interaction is just between Shiki and Arcueid, Shiki and his sister, Shiki and his classmates. What about the interaction between characters aside from Shiki? The characters are not very lovable, like you won’t care whatever happens to them. They are also so stereotypical.
I don’t think I'll ever watch this again. Well maybe if there’s nothing to do and nothing to watch. I recommend this to those who likes boring and serious animes.
