| I am not into romance animes at all but I was curious why this is rated so high and it was only 14 episodes so I decided to give it a shot and I'm very glad that I did because this is without a doubt a masterpiece.
You may at first think this is just a school-life romance anime but if you watch it past the first few episodes you will see that it is a lot more that that.
This anime is about life, friendship, love and how these are related with each other. Of course there are lots of shows about that stuff so what makes Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien a masterpiece?
It's the way the story is presented and how real the characters are. This anime shows no mercy to the viewer and strikes you without warning. It shows how your life and your dreams could be shattered by a completely unexpected event. It shows how something you did that seemed so unimportant at the time can change your life completely.
The main characters are very realistic and you can really put yourself in their position and feel what they feel. It makes you think what you would do if you were in their place.
All in all, this is a must watch for anyone who is mature enough to appreciate it. Even people who don't like romance anime can find this to be one of their favorite animes of all time.

| This anime to me is a simple romance plot. It actually is very emotional and leaves an impression which is important in any anime.
I would recommend it to the romance genre enthusiast.
But there's a catch...
While Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is highly rated in AnimeNfo and I really am happy seeing a less known anime high in the ranks, however, I do not see how this anime is "great". Without delving too into the plot, I will say it is an anime I do not regret seeing, and I find that important to state that. Despite that I find it to be merely average and comparable to many other romances which made their names known first as games.
This anime can have its touching moments, but the design just doesn't give off an original or breakthrough feel.
Despite what seems to be a negative review of this anime, I am only saying the anime is quite "average" in many aspects like character design, plot, and value.

| This is incredibly popular, but if people took the anime from an objective point of view they'd see its no masterpiece. KGNE is good for its genre. It's a soap opera, and people will cry buckets over a simple thing, there's really no surprise. This is anime, people get caught up in the drama.
KGNE could work as a live action TV show. It's the Neighbors/Home and Away of anime. It could easily be shown on everyday TV, but for some reason people don't like to air anime on TV in US or Australia. Stupid, if you ask me.
The director of Juno said "It's easy to be realistic and unimaginative, and easy to be imaginative but unrealistic" The first category applies here. There's nothing quirky about the dialogue, although that could be blamed on its genre- angst mania. There's a lot of realistic, but unoriginal dialogue, except for maybe the waitresses. I can't think of many ways the script can be tightened, and it succeeds on what it sets up to do: move the viewer.
If you're into Neighbors, give this a try.

| I found this completely by chance. I read reviews of it and it sounded good so I watched the show. After watching the first episode, I couldn't stop. I watched all 14 episodes in less than a day.
The picture and description on here was a little misleading to me. The story gets complicated and doesn't turn out how you'd think (i'm trying not to give too much away). You really feel for the characters over the course of the show (possibly because there are so few and the story revolves around their lives). The story was very depressing to me, but also happy. I didn't end the way I wanted it to, nevertheless it was a great ending to a great show. I'd recommend this 100% to almost all anime viewers.

| Without a doubt, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien gives good drama. If you're like me and you need that good ol 'drama' fix every once in a while then this show is for you! It most certainly is a must see.....not to mention, a must have for your collection. For a show that's only 14 episodes, this show packs quite a wallop with it's dramatic intensity and sophisticated narration. So much so, that it easily surpasses most other animes of the same genre that are twice as long at 24 to 26 episodes.

| KGNE (a.k.a. Rumbling Hearts) has been pretty razed with such hype ever since it was released in 2003. I decided to buy the complete DVD box set for it to check it out and I must say, I got my money's worth it.
KGNE is a very melodramatic story of the life of Takayuki Narumi and his friends. His experiences would decide who he will be together with in the end.
Animation was slightly above average. Since this was based off of the H-game, I may have expected a little too much here. The atmosphere is bright and colorful in contrast of the rather grim mood of the storyline. Other than that, it's just bland, standard fare. Same goes for the character designs. Some of the characters look like palette swaps, but this seems to be a trend for almost all H-games (heh, who knew?).
Being a slice-of-life anime, it's going to be obvious that there will be no flashy effects so don't watch this for that very reason.
The music was very negligible. It doesn't pierce your ears, but neither will make a lasting impression. It's just there to be background decoration. Voice acting was a lot better. The voices amplified the moods and feelings of the characters quite well, from the cries to the contemplations. It's not overdone to the point of tastelessness. They hit the mark in this one.
Story-wise, while I was entertained by it, I felt that the series used some drama cliches that were better off not being there. Dramatic ironies, suspense, sudden revelations, I saw those as pretty predictable and really not that special, every drama contains these elements and KGNE isn't different. Some consider the story as realistic, and I'm gonna have to go with the people that said that it's not. Though there is some basis in today's society, the way it's portrayed is just to good to be true for the average guy to fall into these circumstances and anyone who says otherwise should get a reality check no offense. In short, the story falls more into the purpose of entertaining the viewer's emotions rather than as a mirror to his/her personal life. Beware that this series might just break your heart if you're very melodramatic yourself.
A lot of meat is in there in character development for KGNE. This is arguably one of the highlights of the series. The main characters are far from static or flat and that they express such complex emotions and feelings. The characters are used properly in different situations, when one loses a loved one, he/she becomes despondent and dejected or if reunited with your "one" that you become overjoyed and cry tears of joy. Secondary characters serve as catalysts for the main characters and enhance the story of the plot, some of them are even fleshed out quite a bit. KGNE clearly utilizes all the people in its story quite well. KGNE is the cream of the crop in this department.
If you're a fan of drama, get this. You won't be disappointed. Mind you, this is not for everyone. It is very depressing at certain moments that you might not be able to cheer up for a day. Not the perfect pick-me-up. If you like the series, you might want to check the somewhat related series, Akane Maniax though it's not as good as KGNE and if you're really a fan of KGNE, may I suggest the Muv-Luv series of games made by Age Soft, the studio that made KGNE or even the original game if you want to try change the events of the storyline from the anime (disclaimer: the game is for mature audiences only.).
KGNE turned out to be a pretty solidly made series. Is it the best that came out in anime history? Not really, but it's entertaining nevertheless. Take it with a grain of salt and you wont' be disappointed.

| Well, most of all this is maybe the best romantic anime what I have seen, but it wasn't perfect, though.
Animation, first time I really enjoyed quality of appearance, characters is well made and even the backrounds are quite good looking, it isn't stiff at all. Even I didn't find so big flaws in it, so I couldn't take points out.
Sounds are almost perfect, but some musics didn't fit my own big picture. Voice actors did their job nicely, nothing complains that either.
Story, well it's very addictive, but it advances too fast and sometimes too slow, I hoped little better balance on it and I hoped little longer school-life "chapter" in it.
The Ending is in my opinion just perfect all the way, decisions what characters made etc. But some people thinks it was wrong kind of ending and I have heard it have alternative ending, but I didn't want spoil my enjoyment watching it.
Characters are good and even I almost could sympathized to them, but somehow I could feel something lecturing attitude in them, so it eated up my mood little and their characteristics was maybe too strongly tied up to certain characters. One was funny, one serious, one sad, one naive etc.
I liked this one, I think everyone likes even little bit if U R looking for well made romantic story with couple nice twists in it.

Watch this and you will rape a dog or do something else wierd, because you're so emotionally messed up.
This is beautifully perfect. If you're into drama and romance that is.
If you're that guy that thinks the karate kid is going to smash up the place and kill everything. You're in the wrong review mate.

| I watched this anime because it is on the top, many said it is a very good one and the characters attracts my attention... (Note: I'm 13 years old now ^_^ )
Well, I asked myself if its good or not... in my opinion is VERRYYY GOOOD. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is a story of romance (anti-romance? =3), friendship and betrayal. I guess the story is very predictable but I didn't expect the ending. One question about Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: is Ecchi necessary in this story? ?_?
Animation:
The animation is good for its year production. This category actually attracts my attention because I believe nice anime' s have nice animation and in my opinion, it's very true... kgne is a nice one =3
==========================
Sound
The OP theme is good but the ending struck me especially "Rumbling Hearts", the Ending Song of episode 2. The dubbing is actually good for a start; I like it.
==========================
Character
* Takiyuki
- Ok he's realistic and boring but I hate him!! He's not honest to himself. He loved Haruka out of pity! He just doesn't want to hurt her that's why he agreed to go out with her but the truth is, his heart is somewhere else!! He's kind but too kind.
(too much of anything is bad -_-")
* Mitsuki
- She's cute ( when I saw her picture I just decided to watch this anime... she is very cute =3... PS: I'm a girl. Don't think wrong of me!). Her characteristics are nicely blend but I hhate her a little though... (You will understand if you watch this =3)
*Haruka
- She looks like Sakura of "Card Captor Sakura". She is very kind to all. I pity her fate though =(.
*Akane
- My favorite character!! Cute, atlethic and very hyper!! She really changed a lot ever since *Spoiler* (you have to watch this anime so that you will know why she changed a lot) I think she is the most decent character here, right?
No comment with other characters -_-"
Comment: The character design is good and very pleasing to the eyes. For the personalities: Nobody is perfect so I couldn't hate the characters soooo much.
==========================
Value
It is a good anime and it's nice rewatch. The time I spent in this anime' is worth it. Try it and see the results =).

| This is one of many romance series that I have watched and it is the greatest by far. 14 episodes is hardly enough to get to know the characters well enough, but this series lets you get attached or hate a character. It's also quite a dramatic series, and the director put it together quite nicely with many psychological elements. If you like romance with thought provoking elements, this is a series for you.

| Ask yourself this question and answer it honestly. Why do you watch anime?
My first and simplest reply would be that I want to watch something enjoying/soothing to relieve my stress somehow and just want to feel better as well as to learn the moral of the anime a little.
You commented it unrealistic, you expected it to be creative(not cliche) and you made it clear that you are disappointed with this anime.
So what if it is unrealistic,I wouldn't want something disastrous in reality to keep turning up in my favourite anime numerous time.Imagine when you get fired, then you get home feeling very depressed, wanting to get a breather.Furthermore, mecha and magic(and more genres)are the definite unrealistic ones, perhaps the latter years proves not but we are talking about about now.If you enjoy these mechas and magics and find it exciting then you have no point to find it more exciting with more realistic work.Kima Ga Nozomu Eien's story plot isn't really so unrealistic,it is just because it is commonly used and you watched it so many times in TV series drama or other shows that you already knew what would happened next. Thus,I asked some of my friends about the realism of some TV programmes, animes, etc.Out of 6,there are 5 who deny the realism of the programmes.
It is no wonder that these programmes had become so unrealistic.Get the point?
You exclaimed it very loud that you hated this character because she did this and that but you never know that you might end
up doing them if you are ever succumbed in their situation.Likewise, you never know if somebody would steal if they are never starved.<<<is a line I strongly agree on.
Moving on to the anime,I wasn't very happy about how they started.Episode 1 and 2 weren't as good as the rest.Pretty much about their lifestyle in high school and served as a painful past 3 year later.
Here is roughly how it goes,Haruka and Hayase are best friends in high school.Haruka had a crush with Takayuki ever since she was a freshman.Takayuki and Shinji are pals and these 4 are very good friends. Then in episode one,Haruka confessed to Takayuki and Takayuki agreed to go out with her even though I felt that he was just trying not to make her sad.You know you wouldn't love someone you just met, aren't it.Episode two improved their relationship with some events and also revealed a little of Hayase's feelings to Takayuki.Episode three is the changing point,Takayuki was late for the date(better word?)with Haruka due to Hayase little request. It's Hayase birthday and Takayuki don't want her to be sad or something so he bought a ring that Hayase like. The consequences of that is having Haruka in a car accident and in a coma for three years and how guilt-ridden he is upon Haruka.I'll say more in the story review but
a very good start. The story of Mayauru is a very good add-on and very dramatic too.
But leaving Haruka alone on the wheelchair is very disappointing, but the creator want a beautiful background to say goodbye.
This would have been a very outstanding piece of Drama/Romance but nowadays this
kind of story aforementioned above is cliche
and so many of the viewers began to get bored and wanted something creative. It is just too bad.But you really have to give credits to the efforts they had put in.

| Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is a dramatic "slice of life" anime that had me hooked from start to finish. It has a lot of followers as well as a lot of haters (mainly due to the indecisiveness of the main character, Takayuki). It concerns high school students Takayuki, Haruka, Mitsuki and to a lesser extent Shinji, and later Haruka's younger sister Akane. Soon after the start of the series a life-changing event happens and then it skips forward 3 years and continues the story from there. This serves as a great character introduction in my opinion, along with allowing KgNE to flesh out the characters by showing them in multiple settings. I'd rank it within my top 3 anime, if not number one. It has a great start and an ending that blew me away, and even though it might not turn out as perfectly as we'd all like, it was still a great end to the series in my opinion. It did dip a little in the middle, but it did a great job of keeping the viewer entertained throughout in general. This anime is a treasure that's been enjoyable to watch and rewatch, and overall I'd recommend it to those who enjoy drama series.

| Good: It kept my attention until the end.
Bad: This melodramatic love story is too unrealistic for me to appreciate it. I did not feel any sadness for any of the characters.
I must say, I went into KgNE with high expectations. I expected a sob story that would just take me away with its sense of utter devastation. However, I never got any of this feeling, and I was left with a big question mark on my face... so why is this so debated and talked about again?
While I appreciate its adult themes and content, I feel that KgNE is only slightly better than a similar anime, REC. Sure, the characters are more fleshed out here and more easy to associate with, but the heart of each anime is the same. We have lots of misfortune, mistakes, disasters, drama, tension, etc... but in the end, all of it felt so unrealistic that I just stopped caring.
KgNe's strongest aspect is definitely the characters. Haruka, Mitsuki, Akane, and the male lead are pretty far from cookie-cutter characters. They have shape, and dynamic personality that changes depending on the situations. It's a shame that the situations mostly suck, and that it turns out ALL the girls in this anime have some sort of liking to him.
One main problem is that the characters run away too much. As a result, there isn't a lot of meaningful interaction. Sure, the times that the guy was sitting next to Haruka chanting the magic spell of love was kind of sweet, and the charades he was playing created some tensions between his current gf and his past gf, but in the end, everybody is just too afraid of committing to everybody else. Actually, it's all the guy's fault. And we get to see the devastating result of his non-committal nature.
Anyway, KgNE has nice animation, and a solid set of characters. There's a lot of brooding and the situations are unrealistic, which makes it less exciting than it could be.

| Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is a story about love as you can expect from the genre. The story seems a bit overused but ends up being one of the best romance animes overall. Younger viewers probably won't understand this in comparrison to somebody at the age of 16 or over. Just fyi, this review contains little spoilers from episode 1. It's not that big of a spoiler because you'll know after watching 5 minutes of the anime. I would had gone into more detail but this review has little spoilers that won't give away the ending though you can play 20 questions and say, "I knew this was gonna happen." I'm really not a drama person so bare with me.
I'll give you a short description from my opinion. This anime is about a girl that gave up everything for love, a girl that lost everything but love and a guy that's as pure as rain but as dense as clouds. Don't get it? After watching the anime a bit, it'll become clear.
I first off tried to find a good anime for my sisters and got instantly hooked after watching the 2nd episode so this is a good anime for people girls I guess but I'm a guy so maybe not.
The anime has a great story/plot. The first two episodes you can call the exposition of like a novel. After watching episode 2, you tell me if you want to continue watching it or not?
As the story progresses, it gives you an in depth look at the two main characters and will eventually come to the end, one of the best endings though it doesn't sum up everything but it's still great.
Animation: 9
The character design isn't all that great, what gets me are the facial/physical expressions that the characters show. This is one of the most important aspects of a drama, love-romance anime.
Sound: 10
I haven't watched the anime with english dubbs, I might watch it later but with the reviews saying that the voices don't express the emotions of the characters as well as the original, I don't have high hopes. But the original voices are perfect, it matches the scene and shows the emotion of the characters.
Story: 10
Though the story may be overused, not going to go into detail because of the spoilers, but it plays out to the a great and tragic story. Those that share a resemblance to the story will be impacted pretty hard. I for one can say that the story is great, though episode 1 is pretty hard to get through but all animes are like that. Just keep watching and it'll amaze how connected the story is. If not, ignore me. But overall, the story plays out well but still sad.
Character: 10
The characters are great, looks and personality. This'll spoil episode 1 but it's the first episode and this is pretty obvious at first glance. We have the shy Haruka who has a crush on Takayuki. Her best friend is Hayase Mitsuki who's a friend of Takayuki. We also see Takayuki's best pal, Shinji.
Value: 10
Like all animes, it teaches you a theme. A person who's in love will value this anime as a masterpiece. Those that haven't, will disregard this anime as boring and not well done. My opinion stays the same, this anime is well done and will make people reconsider their decisions. This is a great anime for couples to watch, even if you're single, watch it. It'll be worth it. Might even help you. It's best to say that you'll want to re-watch this anime after watching it for the first time to get some plots down and be sure what happens. Though it's not difficult to understand what happens, you'll want to re-watch it because it's both sad and one of the best animes made. It'll make a great collection because almost everybody are able to look at themselves in the characters' shoes.
Enjoyment: 10
Overall, I enjoyed this anime. Some may say this anime is overrated so it's not an anime that everybody would like. It got it's rank because, in my opinion, the majority of people that watched it, liked it. So I won't guarantee to people that they will like, especially if you have extremely high hopes for the anime. If you finish it in a day, I think it'll impact you more than if you watch it over a period of time because you'll lose sight of what the anime is really about. It's simple to just call it a love story but it goes deeper than that. For now, watch it and write a review if you think otherwise.
If you can find an anime that hits the spot like this one does, do a review comparing Kimi ga Nozomu Eien to it.
Thank you for reading.
