| ITs not really bad, its just weird. This story is simple. 1 ep ova which has a stuffed teddy bear as a hero, then there is some kind of barbie doll as a hero as well. Its just like superman, where 1 ep saving people, stopping bad guys. Its not really bad, its just weird with the clow characters which are really the badguys this thing makes sense though a bit too childish. The sound is ok, but not great. And for some super teddy bear, it has a sound of a robot is more like it. The super-doll (female barbie doll type) is a far better super hero than this. In the teddy bear you get cuteness, but then you also get weirdness. The animation is also too colourful which suits the anime but its more like a dimentia theme rather than a normal kids anime.

| (Lunar Anime & Seikai-No-Fansubs)
I first heard about this title when I read about Hotori: Tada Saiwai o Koinegau anime that it had won the third prize at an Animax contest, while Super Kuma-san won the first. While reading the plot I was suprised why Hotori that had a much better story would come third. But after watching this title I understand why. This title is one of the best and funniest 25 minute OVAs I watched.
Many moments make no sense whatsoever and dementia moments arent rare either. The blue bear is funny and the mysterious doll is creepy. Rozen Maiden fans should definitely watch this.
I found every minute filled with action and a weird angsty atmosphere and when this is combined with childrens music and colours too it makes this title a litllte disturbing too.
Animation is very good and colourfull.
I got the same weird feeling while I was watching animation by Svankmajer. It looks like a twisted version of Alice in Wonderland.
For dementia fans this title is a must-watch.

| Short and weird. You need something else? I think everything has been said already below but repetition never hurts.
You may think this is a cute little show for under 5-years-old. It has a cuddly living teddy bear acting as a superhero as the main star and all sorts of colorful pictures. Before you rush to show it to little Jimmy, I think I should also mention the bank robbers, fatal car accidents and a murderous doll.
I think the main point of Super Kuma-san is to mix cuteness with serious themes (justice, revenge etc.) and add a psychedelic spice to it all. Kuma-san despite his appearance is quite scary. With his drum banging and hideously booming voice, he reminds more an ancient tribal god. Still he goes around clumsily like the cute bear he is. The other spooky character is the balet doll after the killer of its owner. Straight out of some horror flick where dolls become alive and start to hurt people.
Well, as a whole the crazy mixture Kuma-san offers works nicely. I really got my eyes wide with amazement as I watched Kuma-san doing his heroic acts. The ballet doll's story was a nice addition so that the series didn't feel totally empty existing only for weirdness sake. There's only one problem: I couldn't stand Kuma-san's slow and booming voice (hence the sound score). Really, I could feel part of my soul departing flying out of the window listening to that horrifying noice. It doesn't help that his lines are mostly one-worded like "DAAAAAMEEEEE!". I felt like I went through a lobotomy. Don't know, maybe that was the point.
For anyone searching for mind boggling anime, Kuma-san is a sure choice. Without his horrific voice I could have enjoyed this a lot more. Now my nerves went to pieces. Goodbye sanity.

| I dont know what to say about this show. It isn't really my kind of anime but I also think it is worth watching once. It mixes cute with some really dark themes and imagery that would really scare the kid audience it was intended for. I mean, drunk driving, and a doll bent on murderous revenge? Definitely not your saturday morning kids show.

| Super Kuma-san is a strange, strange little OVA. It looks deceptively cute from its Animenfo picture, but within the first minute, the viewer is treated to a main character so bizarrely paradoxical that the anime instantly becomes comic. A big, angry blue bear? Come on now :D Despite this, Kuma himself is a pretty cute character. Even when he goes into his Super mode, it's still great watching him toddle around with his little drum...That doll really frightens me though. Right down to the eye twitch, she's incredibly sinister.
Not a particularly deep or meaningful OVA, the one truly strong point of Super Kuma-san in its short running time is its memorability. You may not necessarily enjoy this, but you certainly will not forget it.

| A strange little one-off, this one. Where it came from and why it was even made are something of a mystery. To me, at least.
I'm not saying it is bad: it isn't. However, the sheer bizarreness of such a production makes one boggle at the thought of the pitch session.... "Well, you see, the main character is a teddy bear who is alive, because his owner died of some tragic disease, who fights criminals and entertains children in a large roundabout park in the middle of a nondescript town. He befriends a man who is working as a clown, who has his own tragic story, and intervenes in the actions taken by a wind-up doll, whose owner was killed by a reckless driver, and who is determined to take revenge...."
Ordinarily, one would write off Super Kuma-san as a short for children. But it isn't, really. Kuma-san makes quite a threatening figure when he goes psycho, and the doll is quite creepy when she attacks various crooks. But then, I find large dolls of this type spooky, much like ventiloquist dummies.... Their creators seem to imbue them with a spirit you _know_ they don't have, but you can't help feeling....
So, who this was intended to be marketed to is a mystery. But I'm not complaining. :)

| No explanation is given, none is really needed. Kuma-san is a big blue - and I assume - robotic bear that drums a lot, especially when he's pissed off. It seems like there are a couple characters who are trying to figure out Kuma-san's motivations. But really, he's just this blue bear that drums. Anyway, I enjoyed this a lot. It's weird, it doesn't make much sense, and I can't figure out why it was made. But the sum here is greater than the parts, and Kuma-San is an enjoyable and inexplicable half hour time-waster.

| What kind of psycho OVA/special is this? It's funny, weird and scary at the same time, but that is exactly what makes it interesting.
