| Nettes OVA, zwar nichts bahnbrechendes aber nett. Melty Lancer bietet ein ehr typisches Szenario mit einer weiblichen Spacecrew die mit Pauken und Trompeten gegen eine kriminelle Organisation kämpft, sicher nichts neues aber unterhaltsam. Die Charaktere sind nice und liebenswert und die Story ist für ein 6 Episoden OVA in Ordnung. Hinzu kommen einige tolle Actionszenen die zudem noch durch die sehr schönen Animationen an Wert gewinnen, das ganze wird dann noch mit einigen gelungenen Comedy-Einlagen aufgefrischt und so ergibt sich mit Melty Lancer ein alles in allem rundes OVA das man sich ohne große Bedenken anschauen kann.

| Meltylancer is just another ova, belongs to the collectors but not to the occasional anime watcher.

| Ever see Burn Up! Warrior? ::winks::
Melty Lancer reminds me alot of that, an action\comedy series about an all-female defunct police unit. Infact the character designs remind me alot of AIC, the production company behind Burn Up, heh.
Pretty solid all around for the length of the series. Not ground-breaking by any means, but its no pushover. Melty Lancer is worth a watch\rental at the very least.

| Dude i loved this anime. How could it be a copy when it came out at the same time (1999) and the game was out way before Excel Saga. I suggest you look at the year and not the order you watch anime.

| Sometimes an Anime can take a worn-out plot and do something new and inventive with it. Unfortunately, Melty Lancers isn't that kind of aime. The plot involves an all-girl group of "Galaxy Police" fighting a mysterious criminal organization - sound familiar? Most likely, but that's just the tip of the Anime cliche iceberg.
If ever there was a cut-n-paste, paint-by-numbers, potpourri-o-anime this is it. It seems like the producers just took every idea they could purloin from other popular shows and glued them together with some stock plots into a franken-anime. Honestly, I don't think I found a single original idea in the whole thing.
It's throws together so many, often conflicting, cliches that it could almost be an Excel Saga type parody. Except, of course, for that it should be funny, but even the jokes are direct from the anime surplus store. I have seen worse anime, but this one's so aggresively average that it only serves to remind you of the better shows it's copying.
(Cless-kun: Did I *say* it was a copy of Excel? It's packed full of *very* old cliches which shows like Excel Saga poke fun at. However this turkey tries to be serious with 'em)
