Hmm.. I wish you can rate with .5 then I would give my enjoyment upto 9.5 :P

Believe it or not, this oav is the best 4-pack oav i ever seen. They pack the whole story that could done in 13 ep. or EVEN 26 full fudge season instead they do 4 simple oavs just to make rare stuff.

The animation and sound were very old-school, as you already know the anime is OLD. BUT old doesn't mean it's bad. Story is fast forward with a little flash back 30k years old when all shit first happened. Hazumi is the best role to play heroine, she got her superpower soul(cuz of their previous life) then she got a crush on her brother(wasn't relate by blood) that was her pervious lover in the past too. The story go really fast. They fight, they remember all the shit, then they bragggg about how they love each other or in the Kijima(remnant leader) case he brag about how he hates every living things in this world. When they fight, you almost thought this serious become serious and someone gonna die and girl gonna cry and such... but it's not, this anime focus on comedy. You'll see a lot of jokes lol pop up in the middle of nowhere even they in the fearsome battle, Hzaumi would come with a prank to distract opponents. Very stuff. Even the end was kinda stupid. Hehe. You gotta watch this. HAHAHAHA

Oh. My. God.

This ova is one of the most crazy, insane pieces of animated anything I've ever seen, and for all of it's stupidity, it's a total diamond in the rough. Take Real Bout Highshcool, through in some of X's storyline, a dash of 10,000 slices daikon radish and housewife homemade noodles attack, and garnish with a good old fashioned brother-sister love complex and you've got Campus Gardress in a nutshell. Can you handle it?

Seriously though, this is pretty off the wall and bizzare but at the same time it's so good in a way that only a few bad shows can be. I think this is only going to appeal to fans of the cheesiest of animes, but those who do apreciate what it has will love every minute of it.

Japanese people have a thing for sister/brother relationships whether they're blood related or not. So how does that fare for this anime? Well, there are numerous references but they aren't to the extreme like LHA(I'll let you guys figure out the abbreviation yourself) The animation is alright for the time, the sound is decent and everything else like story is seen in modern anime. If you want a history lesson in anime, this is probably one you'll want to see.

This is crazyness, don't expect to make any sense out of it. The plot is shallow, good and evil in a simple plot, but the story is so stylish!

The characters cannot be praised for their originality, though. The high school girl in uniform, her brother...

(Update after rewatching, lately...)

Originally, I gave Combustible 9.7 out of 10... Upon rethinking about it, I don't think that it deserves that much of a high score.

The reason why I was originally so impressed is that it's one of the first animes that I saw when I got back into watching anime, a few years ago. In other words, if one has never watched any anime, for instance, Combustible would be greatly surprising. Especially the first episode.

This is another point that I remembered after rewatching this. I remembered being wowed after seeing the first episode, and the fall down from great expectations upon seeing the follow-ups. They're still worth watching, but it's about the story coming to a conlusion, not about being surprised so much.

Overall, for one who has not encountered the concept of school kids with wacky super powers and peculiarly intriguing relationships, Combustible is remarkably surprising, if only for the first episode.

Otherwise, it's pretty wacky still, but the story is not that original, and while the first episode would still be entertaining, the follow-ups are repetitive, comical content-wise, i.e. Combustible should have been shorter. So let me lower the Story at 8/10 and the value at 7/10. I still originally enjoyed Combustible for a 10, so I'll let that be (as I explained above).

Ah i remember watching quite a while back.. hmmm 6 years ago or so. But it still stuck to my mind. But I never got to watch the last 2 eps. for some reason, I think because the quality weren't good or something.

The animation was prety good for that time and sound was ok. The story well, its almost secondary when compared to the slap stick comedy. ^_^

The characters were prety good It thought, and they were all funny in their own way.

Well a enjoyable series to me, I don't often remember those animes that I don't finish but somehow this one did lol.

Frantic and hilarious take on supernatural, combat, high school life, romance. Still holds its own nearly 10 yrs. after its release. Highly recommended.

The opening scene to this show reminded me a lot of Bastard, and I heard that the humor is like Bastard, but more of it. And usually when their's a lot of humor the plot suffers. The whole "A dark blood covered sky will come, a monster will appear, a nuke or army can't defeat them, only the chosen can defeat them" plot line been used and abused back when this anime was made.
Not saying that this anime isn't good, the fights are really good and the names "THE HOT CURRY ATTACK!" makes you laugh in the first few episodes. And the characters are your standard super powered teenagers, the villain supercounter part, the ecchi teacher, a love that's shouldn't happen, and the character that will sacrifice himself for the good of the team.
