It was like Hale nochi guu LIGHT, it wasn't as good as the series but it's still worth watching for the hale nochi guu fans.

If you're new to the hale + guu then go watch the series, you can't judge whether you want to watch the series based on this... I thought series was better.

Jungle ha itsumo Hare nochi Guu Deluxe is better than the original series because its a little more twisted than the first one. The story line continues and Hale is back from the city life and continues to live the jungle life. Basically everything remains the same, Guu is not noticeaby different, Hale is still his optimistic, overworrisome self, and if you loved the first series, you'll totally love this continuation even more.

Personally, I thought that the first series was a bit too long and towards the end it was just plain boring, but this series is just the perfect length. I didn't get too tired of the jokes although the psychotic new teacher was a bit... wow... overexcessive. But hahaha, this Deluxe version is fun!

One of the most amazing things about the TV series is that it had little sexual humor yet still managed to be funny. Well, throw all that out the window. There's a lot of ecchi humor in this OVA; hence; it's funnier than the series. :) Unfortunately, there's also nudity and it's in the wrong places. This makes for some very unpleasant ocular experiences. I do not, I repeat do not, want to see Dama's ass. Other than a few disgusting moments, however, Hale + Guu Deluxe has humor that doesn't get old...mainly because of its short length. Hallelujah. I recommend becoming familiar with the series first for some of the jokes-particularly those involving Weda (Hale's mother) and the doctor would be lost. If you liked the series, you'll like this. The humor is just as wacky (bugs in human form?) and Guu is just as hilarious.

Deluxe continues the "story" of Hale and his life with Guu, bringing the plot thankfully back to the Jungle where it belongs. Not much has changed. The jokes are still random and hilarious and the animation hasn't changed a bit. The lack of major plot progression was a concern for me though. I'd like to see some real answers about Guu! Maybe next time. ^_^;

Guu, a mysterious girl with pink hair and unlimited power, suddenly appears in the jungle and started living with Hale, an innocent caring boy, and his mum. Guu's job is to make Hare's life both at home and in the school a living hell but at the same time, makes him feel the warmth of those around him. But more towards the former. An extremely interesting anime not to be missed.

Guu Deluxe follows the same zaney pattern that the original series did. Similarly lacking any real worthwhile story, Guu Deluxe's sharp witty dialouge, sight gags, and insightful viewpoints make it as edgy as the original series.

A sharply written sequel, Guu deluxe is keeps the viewer engaged with a frantic amount information. In addition to the sharp dialouge, each episode usually contains multiple on screen sight gags Because of this surplus of information, watching multiple episodes can be somwhat draining. However, Guu deluxe is well worth its 6 episodes of entertainment.

A decent continuation of the series, with improved animation in my opinion.

The animation was obviously improved, due to it being an OVA and released directly on dvd. Alot crisper looking.

The sound was the same, although the opening theme song was a little different, and one part of it was actually pretty humorous.

If you just assumed this to be a continuation of the series, the story score doesnt really lower any in my opinion. The new central storyline deals with marriage and pregnancy, which wasnt as exciting but still good.

The characters were still greatly developed, as well as the development of some more characters who were pretty minor until now. Also the addition of a new teacher which was hilarious.

Again, i watched this entire ova series from start to finish, laughing my ass off constantly along the way. Since each episode was shorter, the humor was thrown at you much quicker, so it was a non-stop laughfest in my opinion. Not as good as the series overall, but still damn good.

The continuation of the Guu series performs much like the original one. Nothing has improved or gotten worse really, its more of the same :). As with the TV series, this one also has next to nil in the plot development department, but also because its so short it has essentially no character development either. Add onto this the fact that nothing new, apart from the teacher, was added and you'll only want to watch this one for the same reason you watched the TV series: The comedy value :). And yeah, the last two "Illusions" were not as good as the rest as some people pointed out, they do not contain much humour but tries to be serious instead, and i didnt think that fit with the Guu concept at all.

Also, i kinda were expecting to get some explanations on Guu's true nature since it was the end of the saga, but unfortunately that was left as a huge loose end. It does wrap up some other minor ends though.

Oh well, conclusion?
Watch it when you watched the TV series. Its more Guu, how can it go wrong? :P

/edit:
Just heard that there is another Guu series, called FINAL. Hopefully we'll find out our answers there :). Phew.

First, the humor is definitely there, Jungle wa Deluxe is definitely a funny series.

But
Second, it kicks you in the nuts if you are someone who sits at home and plays video games (/watches anime...) and this fact sort of bugs me.

Unfortunately, the theme is sort of accurate, but
in the end, the moral went the wrong way in my eyes, and ends up preachy and cruel instead of cool.

Aside from all this, Jungle Deluxe is really like a serious upgrade to the original series, although there is 0 plot at all in this one. Well, maybe 1 plot...

Overall, recommended. Good humor, interesting pseudo-stories, and impressive ending and opening theme upgrades.

The continuation of HnG is VERY succesfull. It provides a pick-up where the TV show ended and now has a bit of a softer, yet more solid plot. Yes..the humor has gone from a 7+ rating to a 13+ rating..but its nothing terrible, and I think after watching the TV series, the characters and the audience both, are ready for some funky jokes. This OVA seems to be just as insane..if not more...than the TV, and there is plenty of stuff that will make you laugh out loud. The production quality has been upped, with slighty newer character designs (not as drastic as Love Hina and its OVA...but still notaceable) and there is a lot more actual animation in the quickly-paced flip-out scenes. ALSO..the new ED sequence is amazing, and the re-vamped Love Tropicana with new words (totally different..yet still sounds similar to the original) is great with totally new animation.

SO: verdict! Hale Nochi Guu fans..this is a must see. Newbies? Watch the TV first, then come back to this.

Also included in the fansub is a 5 minute pilot episode containing half of the 1st season's plot. Funky character designs and a couple chuckles. Worth seeing.

One of the funniest animes ever. It's absolutely absurd, ridicilous, surreal and exaggarates in all areas and that's just the thing that makes it worth watching again from time to time.

Being a follow-up, by itself, this has no story whatsoever. It does somewhat continue the story they tried to tack onto the end of the series. The hilarity wasn't as thick in this as it was before, unfortunately. It tends to be more strange.

I didn't like Guu Deluxe as much as the first series. The pace at which things are happening is a lot faster (often too fast) and quite a few old ideas are repeated. Most of the jokes are still great but they are relying more on funny expressions and action instead of cool ideas. There isn't anything much to the story either.
Anyway, it is still great and has even better animation. Also the OP and ED are some of the best and funniest I've ever seen.
I hope there will be more Guu as the show still has a lot of potential.

If you want to laugh, watch this one. This is one of best comedies out there (along with the previous TV series). There isn't really much story development, but you won't care too much about that while you enjoy the humor. Recommended!

This is a must see for anyone who enjoyed the series, as it is just more of the same. Being an OVA, the animation and colors are better and crisper.

While this extends the series, it still seems rather open-ended, but is no less enjoyable because of this.

It should definately only be watched *after* the original series, otherwise it would be hard to understand alot of the in-jokes and the story itself.

If you enjoyed the original, this is worth watching.

The continuation of Hale Nochi Guu, this OVA continues the out-of-this-world humor... And since it's a continuation, that means the types of jokes will almost be identical... and after 26 episodes of the tv series, the jokes in this OVA seems old. Repetitious humor in a sense.

It's funny as hell again and the characters are still great, but it's just a shorter version of the previous show and the story is still left unfinished. It's not vital to have seen the TV series to grasp whats going on, but it's more fun. If you liked the non-deluxe version, you'll like this as well.

I find this OVA to be less worth watching than the series... but its still good on humour and enjoyment. The artwork is *slightly* improved from the series.

Ending is kind of abrupt. But you really don't need to understand the plot to enjoy this anime, so an abrupt end is actually quite acceptible. Besides, the happy ending is agreeable with the entire series, even if it does leave the answer to "WTF is Guu?!" up in the air...
