(C1 anime fansubs. No comments needed)

I had watched like many others the Saban version 15 years ago but back then I really didnt like the anime . Had to do probably with the fact that it was dubbed but there were also better programms like the last good series of Disney and the other better version called "Peter Pan and the Pirates" that had better animation (TMS made the animation of that series like in many other classic american cartoons) and also the Disney movie. I wonder how Disney let it slip that Rascal the raccoon also participated in the series. Or else they would have let this WMT series be broadcasted in the US.

So I watched only some episodes of the first half and never really bothered again. I put in on the same league with the many trash cartoons.

But now with the advent of fansubs there is a chance to rewatch it again in Japanese, especially after knowing that it was directed by one of Japans best directors

I think the animation style of that series had put many younger viewers off back then. I mean Peter Pan looked like a scarecrow and the animation lacked a lot of the vividness of the Disney version and the Fox cartoon series.

But had the viewers then watched a little of the then unpromoted movies of Studio Ghibili (a major influence on the director) and had they watched that amazing opening (Saban always butchered the best OP and ED songs of the Japanese series they dubbed though the Peter Pan OP here was decent) they would be more tolerant to the series. The series was not that promoted in comparison to the other two.

Especially later in the series some scenes look similar to Nausicaa. Probably the show was more popular in Japan for that reason.

It is also interesting that the series influenced the director T.Nakamura because more or less the same characters would later appear in a more dramatic tone in the series "Fantastic Children" and the movie "A Tree of Palme" and in a more enjoyable and comedic tone in the movie "Catnapped".

The series isnt the best of the WMT franchise. Many episodes were too childish for my tastes especially in the first half. But the second arc is much better even if it has nothing to do with the book. Some nicely directed episodes appear and the last episode is worthy of a WMT title. Too bad this magic couldnt have been used efficiently in the other episodes.

The music and sound are repetitive and the characters lack what would make them memorable. In the dub I remember they were much worse. It is also interesting that the same voice actors lend their voices to Disney's Peter Pan in the Japanese dub.

Even if the story in the end isnt that innovative the series is overall well directed and uniquely animated. Even if it isnt the best WMT title it is much better in comparison to animes of similar genres.

I prefer this version over the dub but it is one of the cartoons that you would rewatch out of nostalgia and not because it is considered a classic. But no matter how many classic Western cartoons I tried to watch I always stopped after some episodes. I couldnt enjoy them as I did back then. This title despite the flaws kept me interested till the end. Probably because I appreciate and know about anime more than 15 years ago

It's still a nice show, even if I haven't seen it for many years. I guess when you're a kid, whatever they show on TV, it's entertaiment. The story is so-so but it lost me afterwards, but the ending saved it. The animation is simple drawn, nothing fancy here, since it's a 80's show. The music isn't great but nice, don't expect it to top it off like OMG!'s. Nevertheless, if you liked Peter Pan as a kid, give this one a look, if you find it.

This little anime is my favorite thing to come out of the Nippon studio. Portrays characters and relationships in a surprisingly sophisticated way (despite the fact that it's geared to the younger set). And best of all, it's often very funny.
The plot takes a strange turn somewhere in the middle and the second half has less consistent animation quality and plot development. But the first half is a pleasure to watch.

This is a most nostalgic anime I used to watch.. I remember I loved it SO MUCH! Every after noon, I used to sit on the couch, sing the theme song with the TV, and watch it with complete enjoyment... It's for little children, and I guess teenagers and adults wouldn't love it-but for kids, it's great! ^____^

Oh, dear lord. I remember this anime from when I was a kid, although frankly, I wish I hadn't. The story was OK for a while until it started straying off-course. The animation was OK, I guess, but most people I know that have seen this cartoon are bothered by the way the charaters are drawn, (surprisingly) especially Peter Pan and his stringy mouth. The authors didn't bother to make their own music for Peter Pan. Instead, they just ripped off Pinnochio's music (also from Nippon Animation and believe it or not, it's worse from Peter Pan). If you must watch a Peter Pan cartoon then go for Disney or something else. There are plenty alternatives

It's a different type of peter pan...
It's fun to watch, and although somewhere in the middle it looses tracks of any story, at the end things start moving- and the ending is really great, and open all the same...

Auch einer der Klassiker aus meiner Kindheit, doch diese Serie hat mich auch damals nicht sonderlich begeistert, war aber ein ganz netter Zeitvertreib.
