| This series was filled with parody and in jokes for the more dedicated anime fan. It proved to be a fun, if sometimes ponderous romp through cliche after cliche. Sadly, the idea was better than the execution and I felt the series let me down far to often.

| This is a good anime. I can see why it was voted the best anime of all times in 1996...but if you compare it to modern anime, it would not be so great. Anyhow, I enjoyed watching this anime. The reason why I llike it is because it is a mixture of refreshing comedy combined with mecha action. The characters in this show are all very unique and funny. After watching this anime, I am left with a stisfied feeling...Although it is satisfying in the end, the beginning would be averagely funny...Overall I recommend watching this.

| To fully enjoy this anime you must understand the fact that this Nadesico is meant to be funny. Though there are some serious aspects of the anime, overall it is more of a comedy. Therefore those who give bad reviews are those who took this anime seriously. You can't watch comedies with the predetermination that it's suppose to be serious. Doing that will make the thing you are watching to be horrible. Vice versa as well, you can't watch a court room drama and expect it to be hilarious.
Animation:
The animation is great for its time. Again you must realize things before you judge it. This anime was made at the same time Kenshin was made, but the animation is far better.
Sound:
The sound wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It worked fine with the anime.
Story:
The story is amazing. I watched this anime as a comedy. But then the anime became a bit serious, which only attracted my attention. But because I knew it was a comedy, I was able to see the jokes and laugh at them. The romance and seriousness of the anime only increased my attention. The ending was extremely well done.
Character:
The characters of the story are often copied in current and new anime. But the older anime that first created these characters are always the best.
Value:
This anime probably is one of the most valued anime of all time. It was once rated as the best anime ever by japanese viewers.
Enjoyment:
If you know how to enjoy it then it could turn out to be an amazing ride. Understand that this is a comedy! No sitcom is good if you try to watch it like a documentary.

| A bit hesitant about watching this first of all, the animation looks a tiny bit dated but like most anime like that you soon forget about it. By the end of the first episode I was laughing my head off. This is more than it looks, its hilarious and romantic and deffinately worth the watch if u like romance/sci-fi/mecha/comedy

First in order to grasp the comedy of Nadesico it is necessary for the viewers to have watched some episodes of Getter Robo. Since Getter Robo is an old series I'd recommend the younger viewers who didnt catch that series to try and find some episodes since this is a classic. But from that factor already it is obvious which viewers the anime had initially in mind. Obviously not the younger ones who grew with Naruto.
Had I known that Nadesico parodised that old series I'd have watched it much sooner. This is one of the best parodies I've seen and is worth all the money. Also it parodises magical-girl animes like Sailor Moon. Nadesico is really an anime for anime fans, especially the addicted ones.
Though all the technical elements and the story are mediocre the voice actors are of the best and most original I've heard and made this anime truly shine. Based on the manga of the mangaka of Silent Moebius, the anime adaptation of which had also great and funny characters, though lacking in everything else.
Of course every viewer has different tastes in humour but really in my opinion the humour and the comedy in Nadesico are the best anime has to offer. Probably the best anime space comedy. Dont ask me about Azumanga Daioh, because I'll never see that series.
From the first till the 25th episode the series was very enjoyable and whenever clips of Getter Robo were played I couldnt stop laughing. Also the way the series was adored in the anime was extremely funny. To some characters this series was like the Bible. The last episode was mediocre but I dont see really how they could sum up the story since practically there isnt any real story developing and everything is a mess.
Of the characters the best was Ruri, a very original character, but all the others were funny as well. Rarely have I seen a series where every character made me laugh or smile at least once. If you thought Full Metal Panic was funny, you should have watched this first.
Animation wasnt anything worth remembering, though some times the mediocrity was funny to watch. Space and computer sequences, though simply drawn, were hilarious. The characters too.
As for the sound, I hardly remember anything except for the Op and Ed themes which were addicting and I didnt skip them once.
Final verdict: though Nadesico has many flaws it is a classic and a must watch for anime fans. To older anime fans it will bring back pleasant memories.

| This is by far one of the worst anime I have probably ever seen when it comes to quality. By the first episode I was complaining about how bad it was, and the complaining didn’t stop. Cheap animation, pathetic music, a badly executed story, un-romantic romance and just stupid random bits and pieces you can’t help but laugh at. Oh how bad this show is, but a nice form of entertainment never the less…
If you really want to watch this show please take this advice: DON’T take it seriously, just sit back and relax. Welcome to Nadesico!

| Japanese fans voted for Martian Successor Nadesico to be the 'best anime ever'. While it's obvious such a thing does NOT exist, nor ever will, I must acknowledge that MSN is one of the 'top 5 hilarious anime' I've ever seen.
Taking off from pretty conventional (= 'overabused') Sci-Fi settings (Earth VS Jupiter war, big top-notch spaceship commanded by young, messy, hot chicks, harem-style love polygon, and on and on), supported by a mediocre plot which sometimes fails to be completely neat and by not-so-wonderful graphics, MSN takes the route to (self)irony and sit-com humour to lure the audience into an extremely fun show.
So, what's it about? In some future where humans have colonized both Mars and Jupiter, there's an ongoing war between Earth and Jupiter for the control of Mars, where some powerful artifacts have been uncovered. Earth launches their top-notch battleship, the Nadesico, manned by a very peculiar crew. Most of the show is about (lazy) life and (funny) situations aboard the Nadesico, or involving its (crazy) crew anyways.

| This anime is pretty old, so animation suffers. Background is quite bland. Characters and mechas are the only ones that look good. Half the time, the anime has an early 90s look, the other half, the animation actually looked decent.
I listened to the English dubb. Opening theme sounded old school. Ending isn't bad, but isn't great too. Both aren't techno. They are both old school styles. The voice for Akito isn't the best sounding voice, and when he yells alot, it becomes extremely irritating to listen. In-anime music isn't noticeable, meaning it could be bad. Sound effects were dated as well: it wasn't clear and crisp.
The main story isn't inspiring. For most of the series, the story is just plain stupid. Things happen with little or no buildup, and with cheesy dialogue sometimes. It's only till the end where the story gets a bit interesting. The whole Martian ruins and teleportation is given more focus and explanation. But even with that, the series fails to please me.
The best thing about Nedsico is with the characters. Characters are enjoyable and have their own unique personailities. They are quite humorable at times. One thing I thought was over the top was that many of the female characters fell in love with Akito with stupid, little, or no reasons at all. XEBEC could have developed the relationships between the girls and Akito better.
This anime is mildly enjoyable. There wasn't any thing special about this anime. It could have been if the whole Martian transportation thing was emphasized. Nadesico had some good points, but the developers failed to see that or give more time to that.

| Martian Successor Nadesico is a show with various merits, but with some flaws as well. It's definitely watchable, only if you aren't watching something better
The basic storyline of this show is rather simple: Unknown invaders from Jupiter are invading Earth and the crew of Nadesico will be tasked with the Earth's defense. To make it slightly more interesting, there are intriguing concepts of force fields and jump gates.
Personally, I found the ending of the show to be rather too convenient for the writers. Considering how it ended, they simply ignored all the tension they built on the pervious episodes and left an open ended ending. Despite some twists near the end, the show ended up being rather predictable...There is a movie following this series though, although that too, had an open ended ending.
This show is definitely recommended for anyone who loves comedy and light fare Sci-Fi. If you are willing to enjoy this show for what it is: A light hearted comedy with its Sci-Fi setting. Just don't take this show too seriously!

| I'm going to be brutally honest: this anime is pretty bad.
The only reason I got through ep 18 was because I was really bored, but I should have stopped after episode 10. I couldn't stand watching this silly thing so I skipped to 26 (last one) after viewing 18.
Nadesico is cleverly disguised as Action/Mecha but it truly falls into harem category. A better title would be Tenchi Universe if you're looking for something harem that has good character design (personality wise).

| This is possibly one of the most played out and overly hyped anime ever. And I saw it and I was left with a feelinf of un-impression and emptiness. I dont see whats so great about this series. It's bland and repetative, its plot is mumbled up and it music is uninspiring. I dont see the charm in this series at all. Yes, it does have a few perks, but nothing to really make you sit through all 26 episodes and a whole movie based on it!

| The anime is a slap-stick comedy with a save the world plot. Its almost like this is the basis of FMP. Everything is almost same, only that it manages to include comedy scenes. Another thing is that it seems that there is at least one other anime in it>gekigangar.
the anime is very light and viewing was nice. It may not appeal to all due to its old animation but its still a classic anime. The anime will cover all kinds of plots seen in other kinds of anime.

| This anime series is simply genius. This anime is in his own category: crazy. However, to understand why this anime is genius you have to see a lot of anime first. The first two episode of this series are really not promising and you will feel this anime is garbage but please give it time.
This series combine anime criticisms, comedy, action romance, craziness etc…like no other. Things that stand out in this series are that the comedy, criticisms and romance it’s not force, it comes when the story allow it. Episode 14 in this series is one of the most risky episodes I have ever seen and it is my favorite, I just love it.
If you are an anime fan that like all anime categories (mechas, comedy, romance, action, adventure etc.) and you want an anime that break all rules take risks and deliver please pick one.
This anime by far is a top 20 material.
The music done for this anime is superb; please buy also the OST.

You migth think I am crazy to give this series higher rate than even Cowboy Bebop. Reason: This anime took risks like no other series that I have ever seen and deliver....man this is accomplishment.
This is a calssic that will remain on a league on his own for many years to come.

| Its a very enjoyable anime to watch. Funny scenes. Neet characters.
The only problem with this anime is that it's story wasn't developed in a smooth flowing manner and that the story wasn't resolved. The character development wasn't too good either. In the start they all just get picked without any background to them. As the story unfolds there is one episode where some of the characters will see person from their past but since no history was given of that character, me as a watcher couldn't relate much to the feeling of the character.
With this said, I still think anime is good for its humur. Don't be fooled with the score I gave it. It might seem low because I try to judge the anime accordingly so it will really score low on story and character. But if those 2 factors weren't considered with will get 9 or nearly 10 as an overall score.

| First off, i'd like to begin that if you haven't seen a lot of anime, that you probably would like this. It has a whole bunch of random humor aboard this ship, the Nadesico.
TO be honest, i saw this awhile ago, and after watching it again it all seems quite pointless. None of the scenes are familiar to me and my memory for good anime is quite strong. So... i'd like to say that this series is only for short term entertainment purposes. The characters are unimpressive, the story is kind of bland, the only weird thing is the lack of professionality aboard their ship and how random it goes about
Back when this was made, it was probably really good. However, now that many series are out, especially with the same theme, I'd recommend watching those first...

| Honestly, I never thought of the series was even on the verge of being good. It was just too plain for a comedy/drama type of series. The animation was fine, but the music from that title theme song was just plain tacky. I just don’t know why I even bother with this series to begin with. The main character was just so annoying and wretchedly nervous that holds no bonds through most of the story, and quickly gains that confidence later on. And that whole crew was spelling “harem” all over the place, with the countless amount of people in the story that had little relation to the whole story in the first place. Yurika almost seemed too extremely thick headed for the given setting from every time I’m watching it; I didn’t find any characters in this story practically funny, with the additional linear type of story that involves the mecha genre. The over-redundant slapstick comedy that kept it going was just got me less interested, if anything gave me some more doubt about it. And the high amount unnecessary scenes and were so bland, that really didn’t really help the plot itself. The drama was at least decent; I’ll give some credit to that. But everything that is done here was just unsuitable for this type of series. It could’ve shown potential that really needs to have more substance on being resolved well for a whole storyline, instead mixing everything up in this all-for-one series.

Why????
It's clear that this is where the inspiration for Vandread came from. The best way to describe is Macross meets Vandread plus some more silly slapstick comedy.
The worst thing about this anime is the production. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that this was an anime from 1996. It has a strong outdated early nineties/ late eighties feel to it. The animation looks oldish, the sound is a bit on the quiet side and sounds slightly muffled most of the time, the voice acting sounds amateurish, and it executes all the events in such an offhand manner that a lot of the time I thought they were just pissing about didn't realise that something significant had just happened. Not only do I not feel fully engaged in the anime, it feels like I'm watching this from a distance. The comedy is the kind that I loath. Occasionally there were some hilarious parts, like the bit when this guy was commenting on the pilots shouting out the moves of the robots when they were watching this anime... what a classic line that was, so I won't spoil it for you. But most of the time the jokes fails miserably, and in fact sometimes I didn't even immediately realise that a joke was attempted >_< In fact, most of the good comedy moments seem to come from the piss taking of sterotypical mecha anime. The rest is rubbish.
The story seemed quite interesting, but I found it hard to follow because
a) things were just moving too fast at times for me to pick up what's going on, and
b) bad production meant that a lot of events which should have been very hard hitting wasn't "underlined" enough, and ends up flopping, so I often don't realise that it was meant to be a powerful scene. This is an anime with a prime example of how NOT to build up a twist in the story. I think there were quite a few twists, but non really registered that deeply in my mind.
I sense the characters has some substance, but the constant slap stick comedy makes it hard to see proper substance cos you need to cut through so much crap to get to it. And... oh no, here is another one of those girls with flat voices. But wait! This one actually have a reason for being who she is, and so I overlooked it in the case of this anime. In fact, the episode uncovering her past is arguably one of the finest in the series.
It was such a laborious task watching this. The whole thing feels bland and amateurish, and though the last few episodes were relatively exciting, I was really puzzled as to what the heck is going on. If this was a better anime like Last Exile, then I'd be more motivated try and figure out just what the heck is going one, but in this case of this anime, it just feels like a waste of time - why try and figure out something that you don't care about? At the end of the day, I think I'd be more interested in watching Genkiganga 3, the mecha featured in this, than this anime itself - at least Genkiganga 3 looked far more dramatic, and it reminds me of Starvengers, this anime that I loved watching when I was little :P

| I was surprised when I bought this series. When I saw the preview for it before I bought I had no idea that it would be so hilarious! This is one favorite mecha anime. The overall plot is nothing special but this show is great because of the comedy. Really good character development and pretty good animation. I liked both the dub and the sub but I didnt like the opening or closing songs. And it so funny when they make fun of classic mecha anime with Gekiganger! The series is great because it is funny and because of the characters.
