Not a good promo... Now this is amuzing:
From a description of Narutaru in a press report about Super Manga Blast (the english monthly that is serializing Narutaru):
"Narutaru is the popular Japanese title for Shadow Star, a fun science fiction title featuring super-cute amphibious creatures and lots high-flying adventure."
This might be the worst description of Narutaru I've ever seen.

Even worse than ShinJun's in the other thread? Yes... somehow that description is worse, it manages to be wrong on every count.
I think I can understand how this series gets so misunderstood though. Most dark shows like to present themselves as such. You can tell right away they're going to be depressing.
With this show, it's not hidden, but it doesn't telegraph it much either. The authors managed to avoid falling into any number of cliches most of the usual gothic drek falls into.
Still even from the first episode I noticed this show was going to be different...
// almost makes a jaded anime fan like myself want to watch more anime

"Super-cute"? Haha, the person who wrote it obviously read/watch only the 1st volume or episode. I saw the anime, but I heard that it's even more violent in the manga.

The 'High Flying Adventure' definitely points to the first episode, which showcases a little hoshimaru-assisted skysurfing.
Never never never show this to anybody without first making sure that they can handle it... this is like, "Now and then, Here and There"-class cute presentation / disturbing realization.
sex, violence, murder, bullying, rape, homicide, suicide, patricide, and just about everything else you can think of. Not glorified, just shown in sharp brutal succession.
Not for the weak of heart.
