Current episode discussion (spoilers) Episode 34...Whoa

What did you guys think of episode 25? I like it when they leave you confused for the entire ep and then clear it up in the end. I knew it had something to due with Johan as soon as death appeared. It’s cool that they showed his “normal side” for a second, that being him as a normal Uni student.

Episode 34...Whoa (Spoilers)

Episode 34

That murder was incredible: the way it was filmed, Johan’s eyes, the way that everything was taken care of, and his rock solid alibi—all genius. Then Tenma, those were some seriously powerful scenes—the music during the operation was great, as was the description of the Red Hindenberg’s murder scene as lacking any emotion. The reference to Tenma “slipping into darkness” was a cool touch. The first half of the show was about the loss of life and the second was about saving life. If and when Tenma “slips into darkness,” by committing murder, the roles will reverse and it almost seems like some sort of balance between good and evil will be disturbed. It then seems hard to imagine a happy ending for Tenma.

*SPOILERS*

I like the way you described the episode. Johan yet again showed complete control of the situation. It makes me think no one can ever have the upper hand over him. He always seems to have everything planned out. He gets what he wants done and doesn't even have to work for it.

About Tenma, I think it's interesting that he could go and help injured people, tell them that there is always hope in tomorrow, and (in Nina's case) tell her never to shoot a gun, when he himself is doing the exact opposite. It's like he's staking his whole life, his job, and himself just to put a stop on Johan's deeds. And you're right. I don't think Tenma could ever have a happy ending. Not now when he's too deep in Johan's case.

You’re right, Tenma is really complex. At first he seems like a flawless good person. But then you if factor in his abuse from Nina, job stress, murders. ect, his life seems to slowly grow more dark. He also told that one lady that he is not perfect, he wishes that he could be a god but he can’t. It’s weird, I just thought of that now. He’s been going toward the darkness for a while; slowly at first, but then faster. His outlook and attitude are still positive, but little things seem to build up. He never asks for these things, fate brings them to him. I remember thinking that he and Johan were like yin and yang or something like that. It’s interesting that the author then shows them both as being good and bad, so there is no definitive good or evil person among the top two murder suspects. Also, different people think that both have multiple personalities. It’s really amazing how similar Johan and Tenma are, it makes me wonder if there's some way they could be the same person. I’m also trying to figure out why Lunge doesn’t believe in Johan, even after hearing from a witness. He seems like he’s losing his mind, but that might be what best solves this case.
