Is Arcueid a fantasy girl? *possible spoilers*

On another forum, a friend of mine posted a discussion on fantasy girls within anime. Amongst them she listed Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi, Mizuho from Please Teacher, Haruka from Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, and (this si the one that suprised me) Arcueid.

The other 3, I agree with. But would you really consider Arcueid to be a fnatasy girl? I mean, she is naive to an extent, and yes, she's involved with a 16 year old guy. But, she has brains, she's very independent, forceful and defiant. Her figure was one of the least fanserviced I'd ever seen, but she was still incredibly beautiful. But hey, I could be wrong.

So again, do you think Arcueid was intentionally amde to fulfill an ultimate male fantasy?

Most anime characters (females) are targeted to be attractive to males..

Was Arcueid? Probably..

Is she a fantasy girl? Most definitely!

Shes a beautiful demon vampire princess hottie.. Who could ask for anything more?

At a psychological level, the animators intend to draw attractive female characters because it often draws more sympathy and compassion from male and perhaps female viewers. Thus, it makes sense for all female and male protagonists to be attractive, which is almost always the case. In fact, I've never watched an anime that has proved the above theory wrong.

I've not watched Shingetsutan Tsukihime yet (it's still in its unopened package!) so I don't know what her personality is like.

But judging from the pictures I've seen of her on the net, she looks intelligent and charming. She'd be a girl I can live with. I think I've seen a picture of her wearing glasses, and she looks hot in glasses. Very brainy look, and I like that. She even seems more mature than Mizuho, but obviously she's not (she's naive, as Last Exile mentioned).

Personally, of the 4 listed above, I'd rank them thus:

1. Aoi (as always, the perfect package of smarts and class)
2. Arcueid (I think she's intelligent, and I always love smart girls)
3. Haruka (she's a strong character)
4. Mizuho (kinda ditzy if you ask me)

Of course there are lots of girls out there whom I'd consider a hottie, but I have no problems at all with the 4 nominated here.

In fact, since Aruceid is a vampire, she never ages. She looks good forever!

No doubt; Tuskihime is a classical magical girl (who ever heard of a chaste vampire?!?.) She isn't slavishly devoted to the boy, but all in all, she still fulfills that boy's fantasy. Wink My understanding is that, in dating-sim games, you want to run the gamut of all kinds of female characters. I mean, Sakura Wars was a dating-sim game before it was a show! Smile

You know, for a dating girl sim, it's really great how well they depicted a convincing, mature romance without any hentai or fan service. If you like her character design, you may want to check out Someday's Dreamers, which is sorta similar.

SHe doesn't have that much in terms of brains. I think she satisfies the fantasy girl thing. She has a warm feeling with a warm smile, yet a cold background... one of those girls you'd want to cheer up in a dating sim. She isn't all that smart... she just isnt stupid.

well i guess i dont understand the term 'fantasy girl' as LE defines it to be those girls who are submissive, eager to please, thinks everything is their fault, kinda naive, and pefectly innocent such as Belldandy(how come no one mentioned her? is it cuz shes technically not human), which arcueid doesnt seem to fit. that would make Arturia from fate stay night one also?

You know that this thread is almost a year old already, don't you.

We generally do not encourage thread revivals. But if you have something meaningful to add to the discussion, well, we'll let it be.
