Censorship/ Artistic discretion? So I've noticed that even though this anime is extremely disturbing, it always avoides showing blood/killing/throwing up on screen. For anime, this strikes me as quite odd...
Question to those who know this series better then I (i.e. have read the manga): Is this an artistic decision of the creators, or is this a censorship requirement placed on the show since it is being aired on the Kids network in Japan?
Not that I think the anime would be better served with more graphic portrayals, in fact I think the way its done now makes it even more powerful.
Opinions?

Well i barely seen an episode of this... But all the reviews and seens i see of this show tell me its a kids show with no dramatic loss of life or anything like that since its aimed for kids(its still coparable to adults and such but action sequences would be their fantasy then show any real ones...)

if you've only seen the first episode of this, then you really don't understand the darkness of this anime.
Watch through ep 3 and you'll begin to see what I mean. And yes people do die: by ep 11 there have been many... many deaths.
Trust me, this is one of the more disturbing anime's I've seen in a long time. It IS aired on the kid's network, but I don't think it is aimed at anyone younger then 14-15.

O well um im not trying to see this series yet... not that im afraid or anything but i just not in the mood to see the fantasy(the princess/dolphin) or anything of that sort as of rite now... i'll check the series out of course but not in this time frame... but since you said that there's a dark nature to it i really wanna see how this series develops into that nature...(a kiddy show turn evil very interesting indeed(hahah))

I have seen up to episode 12. OMG~!@@@!!! The killing is freaking violent, regardless of what other people have said. Sure, no blood, no puking, but..., how did they manage to air that?
Ok! If u are looking for cute sakura, not found here. If u are looking for Evangelion-like, twisted characters and psycho distrubing thoughts, we've got plenty.

The original manga is extremely graphic in its depictions, especially Volume 6. If you look around on the internet, I bet you can find some scans. I'm guessing then it was the choice of the TV producers to tone it down.

I agree with your sentiment. Despite them using shadowplay and off camera shots, I think the voice acting is really what drives it home for me. I had problems getting through eps 12 and 13...
