Van Hellsing So Hollywood is coming out with a new movie named Van Hellsing. I saw the trailer for the movie and thought that it looked/sounded a lot like the anime. I havnt seen the anime, so I cant say for sure, but the similarities are pretty obvious. Is this live action anime?

This was discussed a while ago weither it was a live action anime. And it was concluded that it was not. Van Hellsing is based on the storys of the character who hunts Dracula, ect. ect. ect.

Van Hellsing is starting to look no better than Hellboy from the trailers i've seen and Hellboy was a piece of crap. For the sake of all good vampire movies and anime out there I hope Van Hellsing is a worthwile picture to attend. Also, based on the trailers, Van Hellsing does not look like Hellsing, and rather appears to be more of a hybrid of many vampire works (perhaps including Hellsing).

If you ever watched the movie Dracula with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves the person who dispatched dracula was named Professor Von Hellsing and all this new movie is doing is taking the character himself to new heights by having him not just fight vampires, but the other creatures of the "night". It looks like a pretty good movie and I can't wait to see it.

I think that movie doesn't look very promising....
I personally adore vampires, especially Anne Rices Lestat, but the movie versions just don't do the books justice....
And since Dracula in my opinion was a boring, lame, too long a book, I think the movie doesn't have what it takes to be a good one....
Everyone will propably run to watch it anyway, so I will quit yapping nonsense...

Well excuuse me but I enjoyed the movie Dracula, but the only thing that bothered me was that they changed the look of Lestat in both Anne Rice movies Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned. THey were both good movies and I would like to see more of Anne Rice's books turned into movies.

After what they did to Lestat in Queen of the Damned I hope they never make another movie based on those books again.. They totally botched it and it was the worst most horrid piece of crap i have ever seen in my life..
Interview with the vampire.. Good.. Excellent really.. QoD Sucked..
I thought VanHellsing looked kinda cool.. but yeah i heard hellboy sucked somethin awful..

I'm with caddberry in this one... Interview with a vampire is IMO one of the best vampire movies ever made, but queen of the damned... God... I was total piece of shit... only good thing that were in it was the music... QoD soundtrack is very good but thats the only thing there is...
And well I think that Van hellsing will be a total flob... I'm not expecting anything good from it, though I will watch it and I hope that I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be so sure about it...
we all have seen what they have done to those marvel movies. they could have been very good, but they turned out to be total crap...
I truly hope that this won't happen with Van hellsing...

When I first saw the preview for Van Helsing, the name struck a chord of familiarity but it was Hugh Jackman's outfit that made me think of anime. Did you notice how similar he looked to Vampire Hunter D? With the cast of villains he's facing, I'd be surprised if Bloodlust didn't have an impact on the moviemakers.
I haven't seen the movie, but I had heard that one of the major reasons for Queen of the Damned poor quality was due to the death of the main actress in the middle of filming.

Yeah....he does look a lot like D...
And yeah, it was kind of weird that Queen of the Damned was called that, when you hardly see Akasha at all.

I could buy that if the *whole* movie wasnt a big piece of shit..
Brandon Lee died in The Crow and that is the Baddest ass movie around.. So.. if thats the case.. Why didnt The Crow suck?
There was no excuse for QoD to suck as much ass as it did.. Aaliyah (Akasha) who died didnt even have that big a part in the movie and she wasnt that good of an actress (from what i saw of her in that movie anyway)

Honestly I have to agree with you!
When I was watching Queen of the Damned I wondered, had the makers read the books at all...
And what was with the ending....I'm not gonna spoil, if someone wants to see it *stares at the guilty ones horrified*....
And they didn't even show Louis....
It totally sucked!!!!!!

I thought Queen of the Damned was an excellent movie and the soundtrack that went along with it was wonderful. I hope to god that any of you that wrote bad stuff about this movie actually watched it  before writing your replies. I own both movies and think that QoD was the better of the two Live with it!!!

I don't think they did too good a job with QotD either. Probably because they were trying to integrate 2 books into 1 film when there's probably enough story to do 2 films from 1 book.

i would have to agree that the main char looks like vampire hunter d in the trailer when hes on that horse carriage that jumps the bridge that reminded me so much of vampire hunter d....as nifty said the name struck a chord with me and i cant wait to see the movie......
also talking about hellboy the reason i didnt go see the movie was because it reminded me of the hulk and after hearing how terrible the hulk was i decided to stay away from hellboy

The Hulk was...different. I can't call it good, although there were many parts that I enjoyed. It wasn't typical filmmaking. What it did have was great animation and some pretty poor acting.
I also stayed away from Hellboy, but only from reviews from friends who said it was decent, but not worth movie theatre prices.

If you look closely at the two movies maybe you noticed that the screenplays were not written by the same people. Ann Rice wrote the screenplay for Interview with the Vampire and some other guy wrote the screenplay for QoD. I think the other one just wanted to give you the feeling that being a vampire isn't all evil, its lonely too. If you saw Lestat would have perferred to be dead than alone. "Better to be dead than alone" Lestat (Stuart Townsend) from the movie Queen of the Damned. This makes you feel sorry for this character and wonder why he sometimes acted the way he did.

Personally I havn't seen Van Helsing, though I have heard that it wasn't all that bad, it was just a culmanation of almost every major horror story ever told. And I wish that people would quit badmouthing Hellboy, ok it wasn't the deepest, most amazing movie ever (like Interview with a Vampire ), but it was a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Good v Evil, comedy, it's more than worth watching in my opinion.

i definitely agree with you, but I haven't seen Hellboy or Van Hellsing so otherwise i can't really say much more about either one of the movies.

i just saw Van Helsing and thought it was really good, so i recommend it to anybody who liked Underworld, but bring tissues if you're a girl and watching it alone.
