  question about 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'.
might be considered a spoiler
In what order should I watch the episodes? (Yes, I was worried that some folks might consider it a spoiler just to be exposed to the idea that the matter could be called into question.) After watching a few episodes and being a bit confused, I did some looking around. Apparently, different versions of the show, both broadcast and on DVD, have the episodes in different orders. I'm watching on crunchyroll, if that helps.

 Part of the charm of the series is that the episodes are not in order. The light novel it's based on took the same approach. It's a way of showing just how chaotic things are around Haruhi. You should just continue watching as it is now.

 I did so some exploring. Apparently, different versions from the show, the two broadcast in addition to on DIGITAL VIDEO DISC, have the particular episodes in various orders.
