It's good to see that the competition threads have generated quite a bit of traffic in here. Ths is surely good.

Didn't we plan on having a kiddie pairing contest some time ago? I think that project died after a while because everyone seemed to busy to do anything about it. Maybe we can do this again after this round.

It's C++ because it is easy? I mean it is only a random number list organizer. I mean, I could've done Java, or C#, or Assembly, or something more complicated. But there was no need because I felt that reading and writing to files are easier in c++ than the others. I don't know SQL.

Don't get me wrong, I love java. Lots of cool graphics you can do in java. In fact it is probably my favorite language to write in since I learned it first. However, a c++ compiler was on my laptop and it just seemed to fit the need better. I mean it is only like a 10 line program.

The start of round 1 has begun. As I am slightly overcontrolling and somewhat of an asshole I have done what I did last time and have another surprise dark horse entry. This time however I just chose a couple that had not been nominated at all. So further surprises to come.

Also I have given the couples team names if you will. I will definitely be needing help with these in the future as I have not (contrary to popular belief) seen every anime involving some sort of romance at all. I haven't even seen some of the series in this weeks batch. So if someone has got a better team name or one that suits the couple better then please let me know.

Anyway I hope you all enjoy the 1v1 (more like 2v2 really) matches. Just as before, pictures are always welcome. So now my children, go forth, AND VOTE!!!

I thought I'd try to fulfill some work as a member of the council and provide a literal simulation of what may have happened on the battlefield during those epic battles.


The breakdown

Match 1
---------

It was a tale of two couples with similar personalities. Two flamboyant men brimming with confidence and ambition, who could only be matched by two stunning women with iron wills, great physiques and the only female with enough feminista to tame the savage beast they are coupled with. However, on the battlefield, coolant heads are those who normally prevail. And thus it was here:

Roy - I admire your spirit, kid, but you don't know when to quit. Go home before you do something you won't be capable of regretting.
Kamina - Shut up, old man! You know nothing of my spirit! My burning manly desires are overwhelming and overcome any odds! And with my bro and my girl, you two old-timers are going down faster than your woman's sorry hide!
Simon - Aneki! For crying out loud, these two are serious! Don't make them mad, I'm not sure we can beat these two!
Yoko - Kamina! Stop being such a reckless idiot! I am so not hauling your corpse back home if you screw it up this time!
Kamina - Bah! You two need to believe! Skill can always be overcome by fighting spirit! And no one...argh!!!! What the hell's wrong with the Lagann?!
Simon - It was the blonde woman, Aneki! She just blew the legs out with just two shots! I told you not to make her mad...
Riza - That's Riza to you, little boy. But at least you have far more manners and brains that your incurably stupid counterpart. Leave while you still can.
Roy - Seriously, listen to her. Not even I can handle her when she gets that mad.
Riza - Say what?! *pulls Roy's ear*
Roy - Ow!!!! It's a compliment, Riza!
Simon - Aneki, I think we're in over our heads!

Kamina - What the...damn, your woman is a real looker after all...
Simon - Aneki...
Yoko - WHAT?! You get to see virtually my whole body every damn day and it takes 5 seconds of seeing another woman's assets to move you?! How dare you! Simon! We're leaving!
Simon - Sorry, Aneki, but this is just too much. I'm outta here!
Kamina - Come back here, you cowards! Running never solves anything! You must always enocounter the enemy face on!
Roy & Riza - Then face THIS! Flaming Passion!
Kamina - (insert your favourite combo of expletives here)
*The once mighty Lagann has been reduced to mere rubble, Kamina singed extra crispy style.
Yoko & Simon - Idiot...guess it's time for some brains to lead this revolutionary otufit. We are better off for having lost him.
Roy - Couldn't have said it better myself.
Riza - Roy, let's go somewhere a little more private...
Roy - Um, Riza, I'm not sure if now is a good time.

Match 2
---------

Could two couples be more of complete opposites as these two? A young pairing whose bond goes beyond time and love itself, versus the Super-Saiyan who can bend time and hsi wife who knows how to bend him towards love? Surely the universe shattering power of Goku can't be overcome by just love?!

Goku - Well, I don't want to fight you, but rules are rules.
Takaki - I'm scared...We finally found each other after all these years, only to be taken from this world is such a cruel manner? Why...
Akari - Don't worry, my love. Our feelings for each other will never die. We will always be together. I will always find you. One moment together will always outweigh ten years of being without you.
Takaki - Akari...I wish I told you sooner.
Akari - I know. But we have eternity on our side. Death will never destroy what we have. Nothing can.
Takari - But it hurts...I can't bear being without you for even a moment anymore!
*Akari places a silencing finger gently on Takaki's lips. Takaki nods and the two warmly embrace*
Chichi - Goku...I don't know. I really think we shouldn't do this. I don't think I could live with separating these two.
Goku - But rules are rules, Chichi. We have to fight.
Chichi - Goku...have you no heart?! Why can't you ever be that intimate or tender with me?! They're barely adults and yet their love is so strong, pure and true! Why can't we ever do something like that...
Goku - Hey, you know I'm not the gentle type.
Chichi - Don't tell me you only married me for my food...
Goku - *shrugs* Pretty much.
Chichi - THAT'S IT! *kicks Goku right in the nuts then snaps at both his kneecaps*
Goku - Such pain...
Chichi - *drags Goku behind her* You are so going to pay for this...
Takari - Hey, they're walking away? But we couldn't have possibly beaten them. How did we do it?
Akari - True love overcomes all. If you truly believe.
Takari - Yes, it does... *passionate embrace*


Match 3
---------

Due to the sheer danger of just one of these couples being in action, there was not a person who possessed the courage to witness this duel. For both of them to be present in the same place at the same time is unfathomable. Once can only speculate what took place on the battlefield. Many explosions were triggered, much blood was spilt - that was for certain. However, while there could only be one winner, no lives were lost this day. In the aftermath, Renton and Eureka consoled each other as they walked away without their mechs, but more than content with the fact they still ahd each other and their lives. Kenshin was not one to slaughter those that weren't deserving of it. Still, one could hear Kenshin's grunt after a few playful slaps for Kaoru, before ensuing epic, rustic style loving. For censorship reasons, even the aftermath would never be truly known.


Match 4
---------

A battle between two very popular girls of the shoujo vein. The plucky, vain yet fierce, loving and eternally forgiving Yukino versus the innocent, defiant, passionate Mitsuki. Neither male had the nerve to step on the field. Soichiro was rather keen to display his kendo skills, but a very quick rebuke from Yukino scuttled that idea. Mitsuki began proceedings with passionate vocals that stirred the heartstrings of anyone who was fortuante to hear the voice of a brave, tragic woman. Yukino applauded but then stunned all who saw her by matching it with an epic display of acting. Providing a narrative to Mitsuki's song that reduced people to tears with its honesty, its inspiring nature and its deeply emotive words, even Mitsuki was moved. Respect between the two was mutual. But in the end, Mitsuki knew that there were more important things than risking her life. Yukino was initially humble but wasn't able to hide a few cheers of passionate jubilation and an epic smile that warmed the hearts of those fortunate to see it. Arima was foolish enough to try to restrain Yukino. After receiving a roasting that only Arima could be deserving off, all was resolved at home. And as usual, in permanent repentance for Volume 15, Arima let Yukino be on top. Mitsuki was gracious in defeat, privileged to inspire a lifelong love.


And that is all for now. But it is a mere reprieve from the next salvo. There is much more to be sorted out on the battlefield to determine who will be AnimeNFOs 'Best Couple'! It will be epicly epic and awesomely awesome, that is for certain. Be ready.

It came down to one final bullet...It had been an epic duel of many dodgings, macho posings, 'Won't I get creamed by the time I finish saying this?' rants and fretting about how they would get out of this, there was a rather unexpected ending to it all...

Deunan: No! Only one bullet left! We're in big trouble!
Briareos: Somehow I don't think so. As long as you keep that up.
Deunan: Do what?! Briareos, be serious! How are we going to..
*bang of a gun, followed by a grim, empty clicking*
Kei: Kazuki....what the hell did you just do?!
Kazuki: Oh, godammit! My last bullet and it missed her throat just because that freaking oaf made her whine again and raise her head!
Kei: So you found her constantly annoying, whiny voice as irritating as I did?
Kazuki: Who wouldn't?! Honestly I'd rather put up with those tyrannical neo-nazis in 1940s gear than that voice!

Once again, in a close encounter, a very unexpected twist brought a very unexpected ending....

Murrue: Lost Property Defence Force...how utterly deceptive of these two!
Mwu: We shall need to take a more focused approach! We shall...hey...they stopped!
Murrue: What?! Open up the com channels, I want to listen in!
Nanoha: Fate, I just got word that only 11 people voted.
Fate: 11 people??? I got called in for this stint in-between my busy shifts in the four different Saimoe contests, the flood of requests on Danbooru and 4chan for me to fulfill people's wildest dreams, not to mention taking care of our daughter...and only 11 people bothered to vote?!
Nanoha: Yeah seriously. You'd have gained 11 votes within a minute if this was Saimoe.
Fate: The hell with this contest! My International Saimoe 2008 Tiara matters far more than this pissant contest! It's back to the true havens of the otaku world, Nanoha!
Nanoha: For sure! Will we make it in time for dessert?
Fate: Hopefully. Wait a second...dessert?

Cloud: C'mon, Tifa! We beat Sepiroth! Surely we can beat these two weaklings! And then we'll be maximum level!
Tifa: Yes! Then we can buy all the epic gear we want!
Cloud: The universe will bow to us and we will lead humanity into a golden age!
Tifa: And we'll like so utterly gorgeous doing it!
Cloud: We'll never have to fight another freaking battle or boss ever again!
Tifa: Or sell our 'services' to random towns!
Sanae: Wait...you've been in many battles?

Oh, I rolled at the first post of mock battle scenarios. I might get involved if people like this sort of thing, but I'll only chip in with the battles I know quite well, I think. It's hard to write scenarios when you don't know about both characters in a battle, and I had a hard time this week because I either knew one and not the other.

I think the mock battle scenarios are actually kind of creative, though actually not a new thing. We had a writing contest on another forum I used to be a part of when we were voting for some of our favorite characters and we had a writing prompt for what some of the battles might have been like if there were an actual battle between them, and how they would win out. Of course, that was TV characters while this one is anime/manga related It was pretty insane, and funny too. A few of the battle scenarios that Last wrote in the one before this one made me laugh.

Though the Gundam X vs. Spice and Wolf Battle was the only one I scratched my head on. If Tifa started dropping as many obscenities as she did in that battle, I'd have think she'd grown two heads. She's kind of the typical quiet, shy personality and pretty much the opposite of a lot of the guys in that series. Garrod on the other hand, he's the OTT of the two. It'd probably be more something like:

Tifa: I don't think you should rush into this type of battle without thinking. They don't look like they could hurt anyone, and the fox lady is actually really pretty. I don't want to disturb Mother Nature. [frowns]

Garrod: Really? But they're our enemy. And I haven't even had the chance to use the Double X to its full potential.

Tifa: You broke it in the last battle, remember?
Garrod: No I didn't....no wait, I did, but it was fixed.
Tifa: But it broke again...oh...I remember, Roy and Witzbea were around it before you got in.

Garrod: Ehhhh?! I remember Roy and Witzbea were playing around with it, but..... Geeeeezzzzzzzzzz! Not again! They have their own mobile suits...they should stop toying around with mine!

[to Lawrence and Horo] Sorry! We're going to pull out of this battle now, we know we can't win, so have a nice day. Plus, Tifa says your fox friend is really cute, and she doesn't hurt creatures of nature. Ja ne. *widely grins and flies away from them in the Double X*

Horo: In all of my years of existence, I don't know what just happened there. At least the girl said that I was cute.

Lawrence: Well, it saved us more from more trouble than it's worth. *nervously laughs*

Horo: [narrows eyes and growls] You were going to run if those kids started attacking us.

Lawrence: [says nothing, but bows head, with a guilty sigh]

You know, now that Daizengar said that...I may not have much to say on this issue since this is Veleon's baby (alongside those who are helping put it together) and he's running it well on terms, but I think I'm going to say this anyway, just to get it off my chest because reading back the last several posts, I feel like I need to say it just to be fair.

If you guys feel like you want to get creative with this, don't feel like you can't do so, and don't patronize those who want to do that simply because it might be prolonged or passionate. Really, this contest is all about having fun, and we want you guys to do it in a respectful way. If you start singling people out for doing something as simple that, it's not cool. I'm not going to point fingers or say names, but I want you guys to be cognizant of it, and really just don't be afraid to have fun with it.
