Description:
200 years ago the Vampire family Marker was forced off of the mainland and settled on the island of Japan. Their descendants Karin Maaka and her family now live a peaceful life sucking blood conservatively. However Karin isn't like the rest of her family, she isn't like a normal vampire. She goes to normal High School, eats garlic, loves the sun, hates the dark and strangest of all instead of lacking blood she has to much of it, enough where once a month she needs to inject her excess blood into a human or suffer a geyser-like nosebleed.

Now a new student Kenta Usui has arrived at school and simply being around him causes Karin's blood to increase. It doesn't help that he soon becomes her coworker as well. What will poor Karin do.

Karin Maaka

Karin is a freak among vampires, instead of lacking blood she has to much of it. Her blood naturally rises over time but sharply rises when she is around unfortunate people. When it gets to high she must inject blood into people, which has the side effect of making them lively and happy. The alternative is having her excess blood gush out of her nose. She still attends High School and has a part time job at Julian's with Kenta.

Kenta Usui

Kenta Usui is a student that transfered into the same class as Karin. He is the only human that knows about Karin and her family being vampires, as well as Karin's condition. He has promised to never tell anyone. He lives alone with his single mother(Fumio Usui) who struggles to hold a steady job and support them.

Anju Maaka

Karin's younger sister is a vampire prodigy. Although she hasn't yet awakened as an adult vampire she already has great control over her powers. Anju watches over Karin in the day time with her bats and erases the memories of people she attacks. She is the one who shows Kenta that Karin is a vampire.

Anju is always seen carrying around a knife-wielding blue haired talking doll she calls Boogie-Kun. Inside Boogie-Kun Anju has sealed the soul of a serial killer who stabbed his victims to death. Her room is filled with other dolls she has sealed souls in.

Ren Maaka

Karin's older brother is more the stereotypical vampire. He has a deep seated hatred of humans, men in particular, and will only suck the blood of women. His taste in blood is stress. He seems to hate his younger sister Karin and sees her as an embarrassment. He does have some brotherly love for his sister though, he was the one who discovered her blood taste was misfortune.
He is incredibly frightened of his Grandmother Elda Marker, who nearly loved him to death was he was four.

Henry Marker

Karin's Father unlike his children has kept his European name. His taste in blood is pride. Henry is incredibly loving and over protective of his daughter Karin. When Karin had her first nosebleed he went outside in daylight to take her home, risking his life in the process.

He is generally submissive and obedient of his domineering wife Carrera. He only takes charge when it comes to important family matters.

Carrera Marker

Karin's Mother, like her husband, has kept her European name. She is unquestionably the head of the Maaka household. Her taste in blood is that of liars. Despite often beating Karin over the head with various object she very much loves her daughter and her whole family(excluding her mother-inlaw)

Elda Marker

Karin's grandmother and Henry's mother. She and Karin bear a striking resemblance to each other. Besides her smaller bust, red eyes, and slightly different hair she and Karin are identical. She is often shown of being resentful or jealous of Karin's breasts, who she blames on her mother.

She has a hatred of humans and upon being woken from a decade long sleep goes on a feeding spree. Her taste in blood is love. She is extremely affectionate of her grandchildren and almost killed her grandson Ren. She loves her family (excluding her daughter-inlaw Carrera) and was very saddened when her husband James Marker died.

James Marker

Karin's grandfather, Henry's father and Elda's husband. Although never seen alive an idea of his personality can be gathered. He liked or at least pitied humans. His taste in blood was youth and as such his victims would become weak and tired. This must have made him feel guilty because he was a vampire that drank blood as little as possible. This may have been what lead to his death. He dried up and died sometime during his and Elda's decade long sleep. Elda collected blood for him and tried to force it into him by mouth in an attempt to resuscitate him. He deeply loved his wife.

Fumio Usui

Kenta's mother. Fumio, like her son, is a depressed person. She had a hard time holding a job because her bosses always end having romantic intentions when she is not interested. This causes her a great deal of stress and makes her feel inferior because she has a hard time providing for her son. When Karin bit her she became happy, energetic and self confident. During this time she helped convince a teenage prostitute to return home.

Maki Tokitou

Karin's best friend for many years, despite how much Maki teases her. So far she has only served as a supporting character, but in an untranslated Japanese volume she is given her own chapter and side story.

I own and have read all of the TokyoPop volumes(up to volume 4) and have downloaded and read volume 4 and 5 scanlations.

Unlike what I posted for Kasimasi I'd actually like to see this information get onto the site. Considering that this will complete the entry I'd see it foolish not to.
