| Gekiganger stats its life as a parody robot anime from the 70's in Martian Successor Nadesico. Following the success of Nadesico, an actual OVA of Gekiganger was made.
The anime starts off with Akito, Yurika and Ruri waiting for Gekiganger movie show inside a theater. They have conversation until the movie starts (so does the Gekiganger 3 OVA as well).
