| | Heidi is a 5-year-old girl whose parents died when she was only one. Ever since, Heidi has led a very lonely life in the care of her Aunt Dete; but now aunt Dete is tired of the burden and has left young Heidi in the care of Heidi's grandfather. Known as the “Alm-Uncle”, a mountain hermit, Heidi’s grandfather is feared by the village folk. Alongside her grandfather and an 11-year-old orphan named Peter, Heidi begins her new life in the mountains.
