| Rupan Sansei Lupin III: The Mystery Of Mamo
| The movie starts out with Zenigata rushing to Transylvania to investigate the apparent capture and execution of Lupin. Zenigata opens a coffin located in a spooky castle; Lupin's corpse is inside! Zenigata's triumph is cut short as Zenigata turns around to find Lupin also behind him and very much alive. Lupin is surprised himself at seeing his exact double in a coffin.
After a brief chase scene, the film cuts to Egypt where Lupin is trying to recover "The Philosopher's Stone". He retrieves it despite Zenigata's efforts to trap him. He turns the stone over to Fujiko in exchange for a date. Naturally, Fujiko steals the stone from him to sell it to a mysterious man named "Mamo". From there, the film takes many twists and turns as Lupin attempts to find out who Mamo is and what his plans are for the stone and for Fujiko.
Despite some lapses into silly, sci-fi cliches, the plot and tone of the film remains consistent and solid. The characters are well developed during the film. Unlike the flat, "do-gooder" attitude in Cagliostro, each of the characters actually has a complex personality. Jigen struggles with his loyalty to Lupin despite Lupin's stubborn attitude to pursue Mamo and Fujiko. Goemon abandons Lupin entirely at one point coming close to blows with Jigen at one point. Lupin casts aside all his friends to pursue and beat Mamo.
