| For over a thousand years, two great countries existed on this world. Each of them possessed a holy artifact which granted each divine providence. One is the Barsburg Empire which possessed the Eye of Raphael. The other, which possessed the Eye of Michael, is the Raggs Kingdom. However, all this ended 10 years ago in a war which resulted in the dissolution of Raggs Kingdom.
Our story takes place at he Barsburg Imperial Army Officer School some 10 years after the war ended, where Teito Klein and his best friend, Mikage, are about to graduate. However, of late, Teito had been experiencing some disturbing dreams. A sudden meeting with Ayanami, a high ranking officer in the Barsburg Imperial Army, causes Teito to recall memories of his forgotten past. Specifically, that Teito's father ruled the Raggs Kingdom until his death at Ayanami's hands.
After a failed attempt to assassinate Ayanami, Teito escapes and takes shelter in a church...
