| Shiratori Ryuji wants to become a picture book writer. In order to attend an art school in Tokyo, he moves into Narutaki-so. Narutaki-so is an old Japanese-style, one-story house which doesn't fit in an urban scenery. It is owned by his mother’s cousin, and the apartment manager is Aoba Kozue, Ryuji’s second cousin. They had met before when they were children, although Ryuji doesn't remember her much. She is a second grader of the high school attached to Aoba Junior Collage.
There are five people living in Narutaki-so. First, Chanohata Kotomi is living in room #1. She is Kozue’s best friend. The resident of room #3 is Momono Megumi. She is the kind of person who does things her own way. In room #5 are Kurosaki Sayoko and her daughter Asami. Asami is a first grade junior high student. Finally, in room #6 lives Haibara Yukio with his puppet, Johnny.
Although they are all unique and eccentric persons, in fact, the most eccentric person is Kozue. She has a secret; when shocked at something she changes her personality. Not knowing this, Ryuji moves to Narutaki-so to realize his dream. What kind of a new life will be waiting for him?
