The hero of the story, Simon works as a miner drilling underground when he discovers the Gurren robot. Shortly thereafter, he meets with Yoko and they set about liberating the surface world from the beastmen. He is Kamina's younger brother and may have a crush on Yoko, but there's also evidence that he is gay as well.
