Sakuragi is the main character of Slam Dunk. He has the record of being dumped 50 times in junior high. He joins Shohoku High School. There he meets a girl, Haruko, which is interested in basketball. He immediately falls in love with her and tries to join the basketball team to impress her.

Sakuragi is really arrogant and cocky. But he is also iron willed and really athletic. Because of this he goes from a total amature to a great basketball player in just 3 months. Even though he's quite a jerk he's also at the same time adorable and funny.
