Taruto is a young cat--though she, and every other cat in the seires--looks like a cross between a human and a cat, though they are just referred to as cats. She's overly sweet, helpful, friendly, and confident, some consider Taruto annoying. Our heroine is the "pet" of the human boy Irori and loves him a great deal to the point that she'd risk her life for him, something Charlotte likes to poke fun at to no end. She's convinced she is a magical princess and tries to prove it several times, but, even when she can use magic, she's not very good at it and it's sadly temporary. The one thing Taruto fears most of all is being separated from and leaving Iori, who she has declared to be her finacee. Taruto becomes quick friends with the snooty Charlotte, the blissfully sweet Chitose, the hyper Kapiki, and the bookwormish Chiffon.
The cat named Nachos has a crush on her, though she considers him and his female boss Chips to be bad guys.
