Takeshi is the unluckiest person in the world, his father originally had that "honour" before him. His father walked out on his family when he was a child, then decided to pass the curse down years later. Takeshi wasn't exactly receptive of this, it was yet another reason for him to hate his father. His bad luck started with his house burning down, and it all went downhill from there. Then he met Eru, the angel who was sent to keep him safe, and originally thought he was going crazy. Apparently she was supposed to have been there 3 days earlier but had gotten lost. He was given the option of giving the curse to someone else instead, but in the end he ended up keeping it.
He does not open up to people easily, a combination of his anger at his father and the huge amount of bad luck that gives him the feeling that god is laughing at him from heaven. Eru begins to change that, but it doesn't show that much in a 3 episode series.
