Makino Tsukushi is the main character of the series. She is 16 and comes from a poor family. Despite her poverty, Tsukushi was smart enough to attend Eitoku Gakuen, one of the prestigious private schools in Japan. At first, Tsukushi is quiet and tries not to stand out, but when her friend Makiko gets yelled at by Domyouji, the leader of the F4. Tsukushi stands up for herself and Makiko by kicking Domyouji in the face(a great moment might I add). She decides to no longer take crap from anyone at that school, no matter how rich they are. She is Makiko's and Kazuya's protector. She ends up in a love triangle with both Domyouji Tsukasa and Hanazawa Rui, both members of the F4.

Makino Tsukushi is the heroine in Hana Yori Dango. She came from a very poor family, but her parents placed her in Eitoku so she could find a rich man to marry, in hopes that he would bring them out of poverty. She hates being in Eitoku and hates the snobby students even more. She hopes the keep a low profile, but everything changed when she became the F4's target.
