Kurumi is an female android (or "Steel Angel") created by Dr. Ayanokoji. She is the first Steel Angel to be fitted with the Mark II Angel Heart, which Dr. Ayanokoji invented. After being awakened by Nakahito's accidental kiss, she becomes completely devoted to him, believing that she was awakened by "the power of (his) love." Being equipped with the Mark II Heart, Kurumi has the ability to surpass her technological limits in order to fight off those who threaten her beloved master and friends. However, Kurumi's heart also possesses a dark side which grows stronger every time she is forced to fight. For this reason, she is hunted by the mysterious Academy scientists.
Under most circumstances, Kurumi is excessively cheerful, friendly, and eager to please. Unfortunately, the ditzy Kurumi also has a talent for making mistakes, often embarrassing herself and others. She clings to Nakahito, and gets insanely jealous if anyone else even touches him. She also has no qualms about openly stating her thoughts and feelings about anything at any given moment.
