To know the characters better you would have to read the manga, since this OVA is just a tiny piece of the story line.

Ashura is the last survivor of the Ashura-clan, daughter of Ashura-ou and Shashi. 300 years before, when the Holy Wars begun, Ashura-ou along with Ten-tai (The emperor by gods) were defeated by Taishaku-Ten. Shashi betrayed Ashura-ou and sided with Taishaku-Ten, carrying baby Ashura. After a while Shashi tried to kill Ashura, but with no succes she just managed to seal her in a kekkai for 300 years. So in this OVAs you will only see a "young" Ashura.
She (in the OVA is referred as a "she", seemingly is neither a she or he)is dark skinned, beautiful golden eyes, long dark black hair and with pointy ears. These features are in every member of the Ashura clan.
Now, regarding the her personality...she is very naive and good hearted. In the OVAs we can see her seek for love and care from her mother, which is unexistant... and finding instead a fatherly love in Yasha. She loves Yasha deeply, she will do anything to save him.
As for her relationship with others, the only one she has problems with is Ryu, who is always picking on her.
Another interesting fact about her is she LOVES FOOD, ALWAYS THINKS OF FOOD.
Also she is very powerful (specially when she gets angry, which is a little scary), and she will train HARD to defeat Taishaku-Ten.
