Lacus Clyne's Unprecedented Dominance of Japanese Magazine Popularity Poll Rankings: Lacus Clyne Number One (NO. 1) Most Popular / Best / Favorite Female Character in Three Major Animation (Anime) Magazines in Japan for Several Years
Lacus Clyne from Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED DESTINY, played by Japanese voice actress (seiyuu) Tanaka Rie, has won the annual Popular / Best / Favorite female character ranking poll in four of the last five Animage Anime Grand Prixes: #1 in the 25th; #2 in the 26th; #1 in the 27th; #1 in the 28th; and #1 in the 29th.
No other female character has won the Animage Anime Grand Prix more than two times.
Lacus Clyne has also won the annual Popular / Best / Favorite female character ranking poll in Newtype Japan the last four years in a row: #1 in 2003; #1 in 2004; #1 in 2005; and #1 in 2006. (Chii {Chi} from Chobits, another Tanaka Rie character, was #1 in 2002.)
No other female character has won in Newtype Japan more than three times.
And Lacus Clyne has won the annual Popular / Best / Favorite female character poll in three of the last four Animedia Bests: #1 in the Best 23; #2 in the Best 24; #1 in the Best 25; and #1 in the Best 26.

Lacus is a very smart girl, who has always had a very kind heart. She is a famous singer and a strong independent and young leader. She is also the daughter of PLANT Supreme Council chairman Siegel Clyne. Her career as a pop star has made her the idol of the Coordinators. She has compassion for everyone. She used to be the fiancee of Athrun, but that was soon called off after Zaft's leader (Athrun's father) thought she had betrayed them by helping Kira.
She and Kira are very close friends.
