Kakyou is bedridden throughout the whole series, save for a short portion of Episode 0 where he tries to save Hokuto, his loved one. Seemingly useless as a dragon of earth, isn’t he? Not so, because Kakyou is a dreamseer. A very powerful one (he actually enters a character’s death dream in one episode to hold the Shinken from Fuma).
Kakyou, though a dragon of earth, isn’t evil. Not in the slightest. Kakyou continually tries to battle his own destiny, even if he knows that as a Dreamseer, he cannot change anything… And all of his hopes lie in Kamui.

Kuzuki Kakyou is a yume-mi and one of the Chi no Ryu (Dragons of Earth, Angel, whatever you want to call it). He is in a coma and since Sumeragi Hokuto is dead(his beloved), all he wants is to die too. Fuuma says he will grant Kakyou's wish and thus Kakyou follows him.
